The best place to experience a traditional English breakfast

I come to this cafe for breakfast every time I'm in London. Just a really authentic lovely and cozy British cafe. The service is always friendly and accommodating. The food is simply fantastic. This is British traditional food like I would imagine a grandma would eat. The sausage and the black pudding are simply incredibly delicious (and as a German I come from the land of sausages and think the sausage at breakfast is tastier than any here in Germany) plus the bubble and squeak and a few mushrooms are just perfect :)

My local cafe - has really gone down hill since covid. The decor is outdated, flooring was coming up, table laminate was ripped and sticky, the queue is abysmal now - expecting customers to share tables after waiting 40 minutes! The food quality has really gone down hill too and expensive for what you get. Ordered a sandwich with two ingredients - one was missing. Also hash brown was thrown in fryer stuck together and then separated when plating which was visibly obvious. The bread kept ripping apart and toppings falling when trying to eat the sandwich. Just cheap quality to be honest. Across the road is another cafe - no queue same food available. Terry’s please pull your socks up - you used to be good but last few times you were bad!

I have been a customer of Terrys for the past 3 years and the quality at Terrys has dropped drastically over the past year. Two of the three Hash-browns were not cooked throughout or crispy. Terrys used to serve Heinz condiments, but now you get a tub of vinegary cheap ketchup. I ordered a Sausage and Onion Sarnie and the Onions were missing. The decor is traditional and unique to other cafes, however the whole place looks very tired. The plates, tables and cutlery are no different to an Ikea cafe. If you are visiting Terrys for its 1900s vibes this is the place, but if you are after good grub then there are better options in the area.

It was my goal to eat a full English breakfast during my time in London and found this place through some googling. It was by far the best one I’ve had. This is the kind of cafe (pronounced ‘kaff’) that every working class Londoner should feel entitled to - but a quality full English in a homely setting is sadly the exclusive remit of Terry’s and you will find yourself trekking 50 minutes across town on two tubes and a bus to enjoy this long-lost human right. Charming service, mountainous portions of food and specialty coffee. Even the old-school time portal of a loo is an experience. Registering on the electronic queue can be a bit of a buzz kill, but if it’s less than 45 minutes just cop it and ignore the calling of that Jezabel temptress of a cafe across the road. If you wait longer, you might find yourself asking the brain-melting existential question of why you waited more than an hour for eggs on toast. But this is arguably the best full English in London, and I should know - I’m an Aussie

The breakfast spot came highly recommended, but unfortunately, they didn’t have any non-pork options, so I opted for a veggie breakfast. The beans and eggs were tasty, and the scrambled eggs and hash browns on the side were quite good. Overall, it was a decent experience, though I wish they had more inclusive options.

The food was absolutely amazing, We had the vegan breakfast and the traditional British breakfast. Some of the food did arrive cold however. We paid extra for more baked beans and they arrived cold and late. I also had the English tea and asked for milk and I was told it was on the way, and we also ordered scrambled eggs. The lady taking our order did not write any of our order down and we then received a sunny side egg, we told the lady we still didn't have cutlery, our milk had not arrived and our order if the traditional breakfast was wrong and had to wait for it to come. We also didn't receive the extra baked beans until we asked for it again and then they had the audacity to slap a 10% service charge on. The staff didn't seem like they wanted to be there.

The wait wasn't bad (shorter if you're willing to sit outside during the Autumn season) but even if it was longer I'd say it would be worth it. Great food and great service. Can’t ask for much else. Came first thing on a Monday morning at 8am and was seated right away. They were only accepting cash that day so we had to use the ATM nearby which cost us 5 pounds even though the screen in the beginning says 2 pounds to withdraw. Prepare to bring cash just in case. We just dealt with it because eating a fry up here was one of my priorities while visiting London. I ordered “the works” and it was delicious. Portion was generous and I’m a big eater. 16.50 pounds for the plate seemed reasonable to me in a big city like London. The Cumberland sausage, bacon, and bubble and squeak were the highlights. I never thought I’d like canned beans that much but it really works in this dish. Egg was perfectly cooked as well. I was an idiot and didn’t realize English breakfast tea meant it had milk and sugar in it. I thought it was just a type of tea and I’m allergic to milk. Our waitress didn’t make me feel bad about it at all and brought out a plain black tea with no hesitation. She also showed us HP sauce and how and when to use it. It reminded me a bit of a vinegar heavy American barbecue sauce. I enjoyed it with the chips. Food and service go hand in hand and this cafe has both in spades. Everything you want from a local breakfast spot.

English Breakfast, which you may have heard of at least once when you think of British food, along with fish and chips, is literally a British breakfast. This is a cafe I visited to eat English breakfast. According to what I found, it is a family-run cafe that has been open for nearly 40 years. The natural, vintage interior is like a scene from an English-speaking movie from the 80s and 90s. I ordered the all-day breakfast menu called the works and a cup of cappuccino, and the price came to around 30,000 won. First of all, the portion was so generous that it was a bit too much for breakfast. Looking at the composition, it includes sausage, fried eggs, bacon, black pudding, baked beans, bubble and squeak (potato dish), roasted tomatoes and mushrooms. Bread must be added separately. I didn't know there was so much to eat so I added bread, but there were only 2 pieces per person and I couldn't eat them all. This is because Bubble and Squeak, which is a chunk of potato, has more than enough carbohydrates. The sausage was a Cumberland sausage used in a British dish called bangers and mash, and when I cut it with a knife, the meat oozed juice and had a greasy taste. It was a bit burdensome in the morning, but it was most impressive. For a light breakfast, a Parisian-style croissant and a cup of coffee seems perfect, and I recommend enjoying English breakfast for brunch. Please note that in the UK they only eat this for breakfast on weekends.

I got the traditional breakfast. As a Brazilian, it seemed very strange to me to eat these things mixed together, but I really liked it! It's worth knowing. Tips: The bread is paid separately, the service fee is already included in the final price, so you fill in the amount already on the machine only if you want to give an extra box to whoever served you. The scrambled egg is huge, easily enough for two people. I went on an early weekday, didn't wait in line.

Mixed review! The ingredients were excellent and well cooked, and the service good too. However the prices are extortionate based on reputation when there are literally hundreds of cafes in London that offer food and service which is genuinely just as good. The reason I would never return is the lack of flexibility which I can only view as owner greed. As with most cafes, set breakfasts are offered which is I guess a good option for such busy places. However no set breakfast is perfect for every customer - we all dislike something or want something instead. Terrys allow you to drop any item but it can only be replaced by a slice of toast ! So I dropped black pudding and got toast not hashbrowns. If I’d wanted hashbrowns they were an extra £4. Please don’t tell me black pudding costs the same as a bit of toast or indeed hashbrowns! The breakfast didn’t come with tea/coffee or toast as standard as with most set breakfasts eg The Regency (go there btw lol). My breakfast plus hashbrowns plus tea was over £25. I got the same quality in a nearby cafe with my exact ingredients plus tea and toast for £12.

I felt that the service was quite substandard, We were sat at a table which hadn’t been wiped properly so it was very wet and still had bits of food left all over it. I felt that the server was slow quite ‘slap dash’ very slow to take our order although they were not busy and I felt the server was quite rude when she did come over. We ordered 2 cups of tea which came with the milk already added and with the teabag floating in the cup and I had to ask for a clean cup as one cup was filthy and very stained on the inside. The breakfast came out within minutes, our eggs were undercooked and had to send mine back as can’t stand snotty egg white, they forgot the mushrooms on one of the breakfasts and never asked if we would have liked fresh or tinned tomatoes. The ‘chunky chips’ on the breakfast were clearly frozen chips and were overcooked so didn’t bother eating them. We received tap water in a dirty, chipped glass bottle and one of the side plates had a big chip out of it. Unfortunately I felt quite ripped off so I wouldn’t recommend this place and certainly won’t be returning.

Had a wonderful breakfast at Terry's Cafe. The full English was cooked to perfection, and the homemade beans were a standout. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is very welcoming. Highly recommend!

What a lovely place to stop early on a Sunday morning. Young lady who served us was smiley and attentive and other staff we spoke to were also very welcoming. Delicious scrambled eggs and coffee and the decor was full of character. Will definitely return.

Lovely establishment! Unfortunately their chai is not the best but I would definitely recommend otherwise.

Really nice, authentic English breakfast experience. Huge portion sizes at very reasonable prices. Service was fast and staff were lovely. We joined the queue before arriving which meant a shorter wait time on a busy Sunday. Hash browns were cooked perfectly although price is a little steep for 3 hashbrowns and we also enjoyed the smoothies which were freshly made. Highly recommend for a no fuss, breakfast or brunch here. Would be nice to see an option to book inside or outside on the booking system in future.

We found this little gem with a bit of research looking for the best breakfast/brunch in London and it did not disappoint. Friendly, attentive service. Fabulous choice of food. Good quality fresh ingredients. Recommend for a treat. Perhaps worth booking as they are incredibly popular. Definitely one to return to when we are in the city again.

We Steamed into Terrys cafe after a good mornings graft. Table service was instant as we arrived. The food turned up real quick and the staff were very helpful We sat outside as it was busy. Three plates of food completely wiped out! Nothing left. Good quality food. You pay the extra here but it's worth it with the experience you get ... it is a world famous cafe and you get that feel. Well done Austin and team

Compare the quality to the Regency or Pelicis and I feel my arm has been diced sliced and sold No toast or drink included in the breakfast which is double the price of the others Asked for crispy bacon (it was limp as an old man) and runny yolk (hard as a young man£. Utterly new and disappointing

One of the best dinners we've had in London! We enjoyed the Sunday roast lamb and turkey, and both were absolutely perfect! The flavors were so incredible that we couldn’t stop eating, even after we were completely full. The personal, local touch added so much warmth—we truly felt well cared for. Thank you for creating such a memorable evening, making our time in London even more special!

Great beer and the standard and price of the food. Super nice service, who even offered a beer sampler when we couldn't choose.
