Great place to eat. Waitress told us 15 minute wait due to a wake being cleared but seated us within a few minutes. Drinks delivered within 5 minutes & food order taken. Had rack of lamb with shepherds pie. What a delight. Although shepherds pie was hotter than hell. No complaints here. Update 11/1/24. Still excellent food. But out of our party of 10, 6 of them ate their meal with their coats on. Admitting it was a cold evening but there was no warmth in the building

Had a wonderful roast dinner today, service amazing, food amazing and a real lovely atmosphere. Have been before quite a few times and never been disappointed. We were served by Sonia who couldn’t have done more and all with a huge smile. We need more Sonia’s in the world. Thankyou so much for a lovely meal and wonderful experience! Went for birthday meal and was so disappointed. The only plus was the food - that was delicious - no complaints at all about the standard of the food. The rest was absolutely appalling. The whole restaurant was freezing - people were asking to move as it was so cold. The worst aspect was the service. It was truly appalling. There was lots staff available - but instead of tending to their patrons - they stood around chatting at the bar and at the cutlery/condiment stand. We waited about 15 mins before anybody took our drinks order - then the food order arrived with 2 items that we had asked to be omitted, so that had been ignored! Then we had to interrupt their chat to ask for a side that the server hadn’t brought out. Nobody came to check we were happy with the food - nobody asked if we wanted any more drinks or desserts. It wasn’t very busy and there was at least 4/5 staff standing around chatting the entire time we were there. Therefore there was no excuse for the lack of attention to detail at all. We won’t be back.

Absolutely AMAZING will recommend having the new duo of lamb as it was tender and juicy!! Also our servers Zoe the new general manager and Sonia they both were equally outstanding!! 10/10 recamend the thached house as a cozy chilled pub.

Took a chance and walked in for drinks on NYE thinking we would be turned away. The manager found us a table in the bar. The entertainment was fantastic. The team were so friendly. Working their way around, talking and having fun with the customers. It was a great atmosphere, we stayed until the end and it was such a great evening that we’ve already booked for next year! Thank you so much Thatched House. Evening thoroughly enjoyed by all!!

We picked here for lunch as we needed somewhere that would let dogs in. We loved the food, but the service was so so slow…. Only seemed to have 2 people serving - who were lovely and polite…. Waited 30 mins for drinks and an hour and a quarter for food.

if you have never been, you HAVE to go. The refurb is beautiful. Service is amazing!!! Sonia is the nicest, most loveliest waitress ever. Zoe has completely changed the experience the BEST manager. Every time we have come here for a dinner, lunch or just drinks, they are pleasant, funny and helpful person to be around. 100% recommend because of Zoe and Sonia 🤍

Lovely pre Christmas lunch with family, nice atmosphere, very busy but that did not affect the service. Our waitress Sonia was excellent, giving us time between courses and not rushing us at all.

Excellent meal in the cosy newly refurbished pub tonight, looked after by Sonia who was extremely kind and attentive and nothing was too much trouble, despite the fact that the pub was very full and the team were very busy. Food was excellent, very tasty and beautifully presented, my school age children ate very well and had lots of colour on their plates with vegetables available for them, and good portion sizes. Thank you we will be back it is very welcoming and a great atmosphere

We visited over Christmas and I couldn’t fault it! The food was so delicious, staff and atmosphere were amazing too…a real Christmassy feel. A big thank you goes to you all for all your hard work and for adding something extra to our Christmas. Will definitely be back and would recommend to everyone.

Slow service and cold food when it finally arrived. It took 3 hours to have starters and main. Didn't bother with dessert or we'd be there all night

Five of us ate really well here and all enjoyed our respective dishes - very generous portions too. Needless to say, being the Christmas period it was really busy and when we went, a number of staff had called in sick putting immense pressure on those left trying to serve. They did really well. Special mention must be made of the chef/s because all food was tasty and well prepared and on HOT plates too - always a plus. Thanks to everyone

Everything was great here with really friendly staff. They brought out some colouring bits for our little one too. Food took a little while to come out but was worth the wait.

Had a Christmas day dinner here. To say it was disappointing would be a bit of an understatement. The wait between (pre-ordered) courses was excessive and half of one starter was missing. Sadly the shortage of waiting staff meant that you couldn't realistically deal with issues at the time. When the main arrived it was warm at best and the roast potatoes which are a main part of the Christmas dinner were in fact those catering pre-boiled new potatoes that had been shown the oven from the other side of the kitchen. There was cabbage and sprouts on the veg side but it was difficult to tell which was which as it was just a warm mush, the sprouts had been cooking since Easter by the texture of them. The limited staff were under far too much pressure so I ended up going to the bar mid meal to get a drink, not quite the Christmas day service you would like. At a little short of a hundred quid a head for 3 courses I have to say I feel like I have been mugged.

Xmas dinner was lovely just 1 let down was my desert cheesecake with blueberries, the blueberries were chewy &not fresh at all but overall a nice pub experience.i would go back.

Since they refurbished i love the thatched house. Me and my daughter have been on a few occasions for food and taken the dog which is great. Always treats and a blanket for him too. I am fussy with food, and found the menu good for choice and was also nice food.

Had a very nice Sunday Lunch here last week. Very good portion sizes and a very good service. Would like to say that our server Sonia was very good and deserves a mention.

Went with my mum who is wheelchair bound. Staff were so helpful. Sonia looked after everything we needed. Food was excellent and service was great.

Lovely british countryside pub. The atmosphere and the service are always great. The food is delicious, they have both traditional and vegan dishes, offering everyone an option to enjoy themselves. They also have baby changing facilities and step-free access.

As usual, staff were great. Atmosphere generally good, apart from today there was a screaming child, which is not conducive to a quiet restaurant meal. Food was lovely, although I personally like my Yorkshire puds crispy.

Just had a meal here and it was lovely, we had to wait a little while for our main course but it was worth the wait, absolutely delicious and good value

Lovely service provided although I thought it was very busy and could have been extra help at front and back of house. The food was really nice. For me,I would have liked more vegetarian options. The rest of the group loved the meat and fish options. It's a popular place and good value for money

You can't beat the flavour of the food served here and the staff are welcoming and helpful. The only down side is that it can be hard to book by phone when the online booking system isn't complying. Food can sometimes arrive cool but is replaced quickly.

Just love coming here with my family. The food is always amazing especially the roast dinners and the staff are so so lovely. Pleasant, friendly and so welcoming. Also very dog friendly as my dog loves it here with all the fuss and treats she gets. Thank you so much. We need more places like this x

Fantastic venue for meeting up with either friends or family and not that expensive.

Food was nice and hot when it eventually arrived...from start to finish it took 3 hours, the first course took an hour and it was NOT at all busy. Shame as it was my father's birthday lunch. Expensive for what you get, but like everything, prices have gone up.

Went hear for dinner recently. The place has been done up nicely and looks a lot better than it used to be. Shown to our table by a man with zero passion to be there. Served by a lovely lady did not catch her name but she was brilliant. She was basically serving all 10 tables in the restaurant while the guy and a another lady just stood at the bar chatting. At one point she actually said "could you run their drinks over" and pointed to our table. Drinks were sitting there for 30 mins I could see this from where I was sitting. The food was brilliant. The sharing platter was a bit different than the normal sharing platter which I liked and was very nice. Would return but the guy at the bar and the other lady server need to go as they really let the place down.

A beautiful experience and the staff were so helpful and accommodating to my elderly mother.

First time I’ve been back since it’s been revamped and omg it’s lovely inside and out , the food was amazing and the staff as always where friendly professional and attentive,will be back soon for sure !!!!

Great lunch at the Thatched House. Decor and surroundings fantastic. Varied menu to suit everyone. Delicious food presented well. It was nice to see the restaurant was busy. Absolutely wonderful family lunch. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices from the main menu. The garlic prawn skewers were a terrific success, especially with the younger member of our party. Moroccan spiced chicken skewer packed the right amount of spices without being over powering. Our server Sonia was extremely attentive and couldn't have been more courteous and friendly, this made the whole experience a great pleasure. The main desserts which the oldest and the youngest partaked in were luxurious, the middle members went for the mini dessert with a hot drink. Overall a very enjoyable family meal and we will returned again as soon as possible. Many thanks from us all.

Where do I start? Get more staff for the amount of bookings you take!!! Quality over quantity. We booked a table well in advance (some 2 weeks) for 3.30pm on a Sunday for 8 adults. We arrived at 3.25pm and were advised the previous table were just finishing up. Absolutely fine. We sat at a table near the bar and had drinks whilst we waited to be told our dinner table was ready. By 4.15 we still hadn’t been approached to say our table was ready. We asked only to be told our table had been ready for a while?! (Why didn’t anyone tell us this. We were opposite the main service bar area!!). We duly sat and ordered drinks. We then had to ask the waitress if they could take our order. We went straight in for Sunday roast. I’d say we waited approx 45 mins for our meal to be served and this was a lovely roast Inc all the extras we had ordered for all of us. Really lovely Sunday roast. After we had finished, the table was half cleared and I had to ask for them to clear the other half of the table? Again, we had to ask to order desserts. By this time the table were a little mindful of the time, so only 3 of us had desserts. I ordered the honey bomb dessert. Very artificial in flavour and little honey taste. The odd crumb of honeycomb. Overall very sad to see an establishment which clearly has great potential, take so many bookings on , that it affects turnaround times on service. It seemed like they were greedy for table bookings that they just couldn’t service. We felt for the staff who managed the complaints well. A real shame for them as we ended up asking for the service to be removed as it just wasn’t fulfilled. You’ll see from my other reviews that I review many establishments and am always fair and looknat the positive. And whilst we all had the time to have a lovely Sunday afternoon , you don’t book a Sunday roast for 3.30pm and expect to come out at 8pm having only had 2 courses. I really do hope the management support the on site team to to meet the demand you currently have before reputation takes a hold.

Traffic chaos prompted an impromptu visit . Very impressed with the new decor . Equally impressed with the food and service. The lamb skewer was superb, the duck and Hoisin pizza very filling .

Booked last minute for a Sunday lunch, it was a bit busy and the waiting staff were under pressure, but they were very good overall. Food was very nice.

Went for Saturday lunch with my dad, sister and my daughter, the food was amazing, decor absolutely beautiful, our waitress ( so sorry I can't remember her name 😢) was so informative about all of the meals, and was so lovely and professional x I will definitely be returning with other family members and I am definitely going to try the Sunday lunch 😊 x

The food was really good and our waitress was a little odd, but lovely. However we booked a table for 1515 and it wasn't ready until 1535. We then didn't have our order taken for quite some time and the food took a while, even though the restaurant was quite empty by the time we got our food at just after 1700. An 1hr45mins is not very good to wait for food for a prebooked table.

We had Sunday lunch at the Thatched House today, probably one of the best pub roasts I’ve ever had!! My husband and I shared the pate starter and I had the turkey and my husband had the lamb!! Clear plates says it all at the end! All the staff were friendly and the service was fabulous!! The place is looking lovely and fresh after the refurb too!! Well done team!!

Food was good and a relaxed, friendly, atmosphere. Especially nice that they were having a small event to support a local charity. Very well maintained, recently renovated bathrooms. Another plus, it is dog friendly.

Friend and I was looking for somewhere nice for lunch and come across The Thatched House online. We booked and were not disappointed. We sat outside and had a lovely lunch. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. We didn’t realise that there was a charity event on but was a nice bonus as a DJ set up and played music in the background and a stall setup. Would recommend and look to return. Just an absolutely tragic experience, it took over an hour and a half from sitting down to get our food, in the meantime it would take at least 10 minutes to get a basic drink order. Often we'd see our drinks just sat on the bar waiting for someone to bring them over. When the food did finally arrive it was obvious that they had no idea how to prep meals in a proper order as clearly some had just been sat under a heater waiting for others to be done, the steak in particular was incredibly dry and badly cooked, luckily there was a portion of about 8 chips to go with it but for £30 I'm not exactly counting myself lucky. There's no excuse to go to a restaurant and pay £30 for a steak when you've made better yourself at home.

Excellent food and warm staff who treat you like family! From mouth-watering bacon chop, tempting skewers to indulgent banofee choux bun, you're spoiled for choice! Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff who work extremely hard to accommodate guests. They don't call themselves 'guest-obsessed' for nothing!

Came with my wife and daughter for Sunday roast. I had the Sunday Trio, which was a slice of roast beef, roast turkey, a bit of pork belly and a pig in blanket. Can't complain about the portion sizes - so much veg and a decent cut of meat! The beef was a little over done and the fat on the pork belly was too soft for my tastes (I like mid-rare beef, this was well done, I like crispy crackling on top of pork belly, but this was not) but it was delicious nonetheless. The turkey was juicy and tender, and the gravy was lovely. All of the food was well seasoned, hot and absolutely delicious. We definitely didn't leave hungry! Our server (Sonia) was attentive, polite friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there. She was around when I wanted another drink, and was always smiling. The venue itself was clean and inviting. No dirty plates sitting on the tables and all of the staff were always doing something rather than standing around or on their phones. Reasonably priced and good quality food. Will definitely be returning again.

After the recent refurb we decided to have a bite to eat to see how it looked etc Walked in and were promptly sat at a table, and were immediately asked if we wanted a drink…. Drinks ordered and thought good start. There endeth the story. We sat and waited , and waited , no drinks, no service , nothing. Eventually we stood up and walked out, and to top it all we walked out right past the person who had some time previously taken us to our table. Not a glimmer of eye contact,or acknowledgment that we were leaving. So we never did get to try the new menu and I’m not sure we’d rush back.

This was an excellent meal . The service was very attentive and checking we were happy. Sonia, made sure we were seated away from the speakers and looked after my 90 year old father. All in all one of the best meals we’ve had in a very long time. The furnishings were great as well
