Where do I start? At 0330, the radiators started knocking so loud that they woke me up. That carried on for about 40 minutes. Then, at 0545, I was woken up again by the noise of metal trolleys and loud laughter. As I looked outside to find out what it was, 2 delivery drivers looked up and gave me the finger!!!! Why would a hotel get the laundry collection to arrive at 0545? I travel to Barnstaple fairly often, and I will definitely not be using this hotel again Avoid unless you want a terrible night's sleep!!!!!..

Rooms were not the best with hygiene. Caterpillars in the bathroom. Bug bites every day. Light right outside the curtains. But staff were amazing. Can't fault the food or drink. And price was great. Location was very good.

Really great hotel for us to stay with our 4 year old son. The facilities are great especially the swimming pools. The staff have been really great too and very attentive. Thank you so much to Daz for helping us restart the car when it wouldn't start! The location has been good as we have visited woolacombe beach, Barnstaple town, Bideford and the Cobbaton combat collection during our stay.

Great food I tried something I haven't had before as a starter poached pear with roasted hazelnuts on a bed of rocket with balsamic dressing and it was delicious. The customer service was very professional and attentive. The only thing I felt let this restaurant lacked was intimacy and ambience.Good value for money.would recommend to others

Stayed at the hotel as part of my business trip. Whilst the room was spacious and clean, it was a bit stuffy and hot. There was a portable airconditioning unit - that was very noisy. The window could be opened but not too wide hence not much help there. Breakfast was very good ! I ate at the bar a couple of times - staff were friendly and the food was good.

Upmarket hotel and good leisure/gym facilities. Great place to stop for a high quality but reasonably priced bite to eat.

Always the best service. Been a few times now and the staff are absolutely top notch. So helpful and friendly. They even seem to enjoy having the little ones (2 year 6 yr 9 yr) there and chatting them too. Usually have the roast and so much food i leave very full. Love it.

We walked all the way here as it says it’s open but it was very much closed. Very disappointing and two very upset children!

We didn't stay here but had an evening meal. It's a quaint little pub that ticks all my old codger boxes. A good choice of ales and wine together with pleasant staff and a friendly atmosphere. What's not to like? Perhaps our meal, which was a bit of a mixed bag. I think their strength is the pizza judging by its popularity. The wife thoroughly enjoyed hers but my chilli con carne was a bit thin and lacked flavour. Not a deal breaker but then my dessert arrived. It was a banoffee 'thing', and all I could do was laugh. Skye, our lovely waitress, was so apologetic for bringing it out. You need to see the photo. Unfortunately it wouldn't give you much faith in the kitchen. Despite this we had a pleasant time and the pooch enjoyed lying in front of the real fire.

Prices are average for Barnstaple. Good friendly staff and the karaoke is mostly good fun, Fri & Sat

Now Maggie has retired and handed the mantle to the new guys, I'm pleased to say they've kept the same excellent chef Nigel for the roasts in Sundays. Superb food and still in a nice cozy local pub to enjoy.
