First visit here and came for the karaoke! Lovely pub, friendly staff and very friendly regulars (I assumed they were anyway) Karaoke was really good, great mix of singers and the guy running it was very efficient! We will be back 😁

Terrible attitude from the DJ of this pub. Needs a lesson in customer service.

Had 2 roast pork and turkey roast dinners delivered and can only day fantastic and loads of food, enough to have as bubble n squeak tomorrow. Thankyou The Royal, will definitely be ordering again

A very good place to have a beer and a good night out

I've given 4 stars as in general this place is friendly not too expensive and carries a great atmosphere. I haven't yet had fthe chance to try any food as I'm usually there when I'm floating around town having a few beverages. So I've left room for improvement for when I do eventually try the food.

Cracking Sunday roast for the money. Really good value for money as the plate was pretty loaded.

Definitely the best roast in Barnstaple. Always satisfied with the portion and quality food. Don't believe me try it puts all the Brends to shame and defecates all over Toby carvery. 10 out of 10.

Had a carvery here on Sunday and can honestly say I throughly enjoyed it. Food was tasty and plentiful. Will be doing this again

I live in Wales and have beautiful scenery, culture,eateries,inns and love their options of home made food. When I visit Devon for a holiday I always take a bee-line for Barnstaple for personal reasons as I love the history there and some lovely places to visit nearby and its beautiful beaches. What stands out mostly for me and is a must have and do is to visit this pub.The meals are home made from fresh and at a great price. Their roast dinners are the best I have ever tasted and plentiful which is one of the reasons why I do go back. The Landlord and Landlady there are so friendly and the place has a great friendly atmosphere there and you will feel very comfortable with the local drinkers too. I highly recommend this place and is a must visit if you are ever in Barnstaple.

Since its current staff took over from its predecessors some years ago, its gone from being just an average pub to becoming my favourite pub in town, with friendly staff, good atmosphere and "excellent quality" pub lunches, compared to the cheap and undercooked meals that other locals have experienced in the cheap wetherspoons pubs nearby! 5*/5*

Poppied in about 4pm after shopping hungry as a horse, asked the squire u still dooin food boss? he said I'll go an find out, he said it will take a while everything's turned off i said thats ok thanks. All day breakfast went down a treat and a half.
