The Café at Lakeland in South Lakeland

The soufflé was outstanding and definitely worth a trip for!!

This is a cafe and store that we generally visit on all our lakes visits The cafe is clean and bright and the service is good even when the cafe is very busy as it was today. It was only a scone today, but we have eaten bigger meals in the past and they are all tasty and enjoyable.

I'm not often in Windermere but I tend to be drawn to here as you are guaranteed good food in pleasant surroundings followed by the obligatory look around the Lakeland store 🙂

Poor service , first take order for cake which dont have in stock. So i just say . Can we have ours coffe . Another15 min and when i ask for our coffe the respound "we are very bussy" I think managment have work to be done in lakeland coffe.

Can't beat a little shop at the Lakeland shop staff are always so friendly and helpful. Fantastic, it's dog friendly, too.

Taking food order took for ever Food came before drinks cream for scones was too hard scone fell apart trying to put the cream on disappointed

Use this restaurant for years called and booked a table for lunch. Food was absolutely inedible I had crispy lamb absolutely disgusting I'll be a long time before I return run really badly by kids had to wait 25min while lots of tables stood empty, I obviouswe were waiting when I informed them I'd been waiting table was made available no apologies were give.

Lovely location overlooking Windermere railway station and the town. Good selection of cakes and drinks. Discount on your bill when ordering with your Lakeland card. Sign informs you tables available and waiting time.

Great food at great prices and excellent service.

Popped in for a look around at the shop and stayed for lunch on a Sunday in August  2024. Couldn't fault it to be honest. Will definitely be back.

Had a drink and cake. It was nice. Would eat here again if visiting.

Service brilliant, unfortunately frozen chips with meal

Nice airy space for a light lunch. Food was delicious, though had to wait extra time than usual (some error in kitchen). Main server made mistakes, but rectified by second server in due course. Clean toilets. Had to wait a while for someone to come to till to pay on way out. Nice shop downstairs.

Light and airy seating, only had mid morning coffee & cakes but nice when it finally arrived

Wonderful cafe with views, excellent food, staff amazing, accessible by Bus and Train very close. Always go to cafe when in the amazing shop.

Very good service and Coffee so good

Very disappointed with food. We had the chicken toastie and, while there was nothing actually wrong with it, it was disappointingly bland. But the real disappointment was the loaded chips with the pulled pork; the chips were VERY overcooked to the point where they were almost burnt and the pulled pork was very dry - as if it had been sat under a heat lamp or similar for several hours. I ate it all as I was starving and didn't have time (and didn't want the hassle) to send it back. Nothing wrong with the service or the atmosphere, but it will be a long time before we eat there again

Decided to have lunch after shopping here. Staff friendly and efficient. Ordered BBQ pulled pork with chips. Unfortunately chips were very well done and pork was very salty still edible but have had better here before.

Glad to be back again albeit late on Sunday afternoon but enjoyed all the same.

Very close to windermere train station. Great food, quick service, and good value for money. The staff were friendly and they have good options. Vegan friendly as well.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions and the food is always excellent. This time we had a full Lakeland breakfast and didn't need anything else to eat until teatime.

It was the first day of our holidays and it was raining. The visit to the Cafe at Lakeland lifted our spirits. The food and service is excellent

The staff really make this business. Friendly amenable, dog friendly place. Plus great coffee and cake. Third visit and yet again will return.

Best Victoria Sandwich cake I've ever had 😋

Come every week for breakfast when I have a business meeting nearby. Veggie breakfast is the best for miles, I’m not vegetarian but the sausages are to die for. I believe they are made with mushrooms. All the staff are so helpful and friendly, nothing is too much bother. I really enjoy my weekly chat with the manageress who is always a bundle of energy and joy to speak to and makes everyone feel welcome. I Can’t comment on the other food as I always go for a breakfast but the menu is varied. Price is about £11 for the breakfast which for the location and quality is good value. It’s not a greasy spoon fry up.

Lovely cafe on the Upper level. Table service was good. We had a pot of tea and a latte,and 2 cafe rarebit, they were very tasty. Ordering was easy and payment.

Fantatsic English Breakfast. Really enjoyed the hash browns; very different from the usual shape - full of potato and flavour. Excellent food, highly recommend

Popped in today on my way to the railway station. Both the cheese and chive and fruit with jam and cream were fabulous as was coffee, so fresh. Staff and service were very good, loved the airy atmosphere and lift access. Would deffo recommend 😁x

The cheese and chive scones were the best lve ever tasted . Delicious. Pot of tea was lovely . I got three cups from it . Great value for money .

Although I enjoy visiting this cafe as it is very local to me & a good place to meet my friends, I'm sad to say this is one where I give the thumbs down for the tea. Not to my taste at all. I also wish there was a choice of sizes of drinks. The staff are very friendly & usually cheerful & the cakes look appetising. I can't comment on the food because I've not had a meal here for quite some time. There is plenty of free parking so that's a bonus but it is also very near the public transport hub so can also come by train or bus.

Been here a few times recently - always enjoy the food, the variety and the price I believe is good value for money BUT even though I like dogs I do not understand why there is a need or necessity for them to be in the restaurant/cafe area. I would fully understand if they were assistance dogs but these dogs, on our last visits, were not. Owners of dogs should be encouraged by staff to be in one particular area and that when a dog barks or "sounds" at customers walking past then this should be addressed.

Very nice café with a lift available for those who can't manage the stairs. Only had coffee which was fine. Service good with pleasant staff.

I had ham salad sandwich, which was a large sandwich, however the ham used was parma ham which was unpleasant used this way. My husband had egg mayonnaise sandwich and chips (these were the thin small type) which he said he enjoyed. He took a cake home for later due to the portion size, again he said that he really enjoyed this. All OK meal, I just will choose another sandwich type next time. Staff very friendly and relatively quick service.

We had roasted beetroot and goats cheese salad, it was very tasty and fresh. Followed by carrot and walnut cake and Victoria sponge, both very nice. Staff nice, friendly. Quiet atmosphere. Worth a visit

Good shop.we were going to have coffee and cake but cafe was full & it was a 25 minute waiting. We were happy to sit at a small table but no one come for our orders. So decided to leave. More staff needed upstairs I think.

The cafe is a really nice place to eat with beautiful views to the Lakes. The food is amazing and it has a really friendly staff. Special shout out to Emily who was very lovely and extremely helpful! Thank you!

Waited ages to be served. Drank our tea and went somewhere else for breakfast.

Great sandwich and soup and a coffee

All be it the food is a bit expensive for myself , it was still very nice , loved the bread for the toast , service was great . Polite , intentive and clearly great flow of the runners , order takers etc . A personal thanks to Kat or Kate (apologies couldn’t read name badge quick) and Emily .

Lovely cafe with excellent service and good food

Sadly I have to say this was not the best experience and we have eaten here many times . We had quite a wait to be seated and then an inexplicably long wait for someone to take our order for coffees and cake. The cafe was not busy at the time - at least 7 tables were vacant! When it arrived the coffee and cake were good.

Can't go to lake district without visiting

We were handed a gadget today which apparently vibrates when your table is ready. We don't know because ours didn't and when we complained because people arriving after us were going in we were told we might be the next 2! Having eventually got a table the service was extremely slow not the staffs fault they just didn't have enough of them for such a busy place. We have been before and always really happy but something sadly wrong today. 1 hour and 40 mins to get a cup of tea and a bowl of tepid soup. They definitely need to up their game some people just walked out and with hindsight we should have done the same.

Lovely brunch with family. Tasty food and well priced. Good atmosphere with plenty of choice - will return for sure.
