Friendly landlord, Stella Lager and some nice GnTs. I lost at darts, but can't knock off a star for that.

I don't take alcohol, the private function l attended at the Clarence could not supply any of the beverages that nowadays are readily available in pubs, eg good coffee, tea etc.

If you want a basic pub this place is ok but it really could be so much more. It had a revamp a few years ago but now looks tired again which is a real shame. Going in and asking for drinks with ice at 1pm at a werkend and to be told sorry we dont have any i think sums it ip

Prices are good for fizzy, card minimum in place her to £5, function room is big enough for a small party or gets overcrowded too easily

Amazing! The atmosphere is great, and so is the CHEAP drinks. They occasionally have gigs there and near enough every weekend there's something going on.

A real oldie world type pub. A bit cramped so expect to rub shoulders! Prices for the alcohol are reasonable compared to say new style pubs. Worth a visit.

The Clarence is a great pub that supports local musical talent with a live music event booth, at the back of the pub. Staff can be very rude and nasty but lots of gosport pubs are the same, generally full of a mixed young/old crowd with it leaving towards the younger part of the scale when bands come to play.

Fantastic overnight stay at an independent hotel. Wanted for nothing and we’re well looked after by Kirsty. The full English over delivered and is highly recommended.

Sadly this hotel has now closed and is being transformed into a dental surgery . It will be sadly missed after years of providing good family wholesome meals coupled with great and personal service. Thanks to all concerned.

Came here for a meal with the family just after Christmas. One of our party was a wheelchair user, and although there is a wide ramp leading up to the entrance, the doors to get into the restaurant and the layout did not cater well for it. Luckily, there was a helpful chap having a Christmas meal with his family who was able to help, otherwise I doubt we would've been able to get in. For some reason we weren't able to order through the Greene King app on the day, which was a bit annoying, so we had to go up to the bar and order. Most of our party had fish and chips whilst a couple of us had the chicken and ribs combo (myself included). I was really disappointed with the food I had here. The ribs were okay, but the chicken was horrible, cold, dry, and had a bit of a chlorine taste to it. Chips were a bit cold, and the corn on the cob was freezing. The fish and chips looked quite good, and those who ordered it seemed to enjoy it, so that may be a safer choice if you are brought along here with your family against your will! They had sports on and the beer was good, so it might be a good option for that, however in the local area there are better options for sport and beer, such as The Village Home Pub.
