Absolutely disappointing service - 2 hours we set there. First course came no problem but than straight after dessert came - explained we haven't had mains yet. 45 mins later still no food when we asked said they will look into and than dessert came again but we are still waiting for our mains......

Wasn't informed about ordering food at bar. 4 people and food arrived separately. Not happy with food. It was an awful experience. Steak like rock Ordered breaded mushrooms but came up battered and burnt. Not one person came to check table. We've actually moved to area we were very disappointed

Several of my friends and I visited The Crown for my friends birthday. We had the most fantastic time and were served by the wonderful Ben. He served us with a huge smile all evening - thanks for making our night Ben!

Very busy due to Xmas and funeral party. Food arrived in good time and as always lovely. Only thing Crown could improve on is torn armchairs

Inedible food, slow service, staff were nice tbf. A Calamari starter took forever to come & was so chewy, no one on the table could finish the small servings. Not that we had time to as minutes later, our main courses came out. If only they had taken a bit more time cooking the steak pie, maybe our guest would have been able to put her fork into it (only discovered this after, as would have complained) Bacon in cheeseburger was burnt & there was no actual cheese. Getting a 2nd round of drinks took nearly 10mins and this was a Monday in December so not busy. However, all the staff were v friendly & smiley, pub was lovely & welcoming, plenty of parking - just a waste of time and money food/drink wise - only real positive was my son has been able to dine out on how bad it was!

Order single 2single gin and tonics and have just noticed charged for doubles. No bottled tonic had to have on tap which awful. No lemon soce adked for it it took ages to come and 2 slices were produced and offered. We had to.put in glass ourselves. Waited over 1 hour for food which was cold and not very nice. We visit every month but this was the worst meal we have had. We told a member of staff who told duty manager who did nothing he should have come to speak to us. Then we had to love tables as there was a bad smell where we were sitting and he said he didn't know what it was!!! Then we ordered baileys that came in half pint glasses ridiculous. I spoke to him as we left before I noticed we have been overcharged and told him our issues he said he was told about it do I said then you should have come and spoken to us. He said he would fo something on our next visit. We won't be going back . Sad really up to this time tge crown has been brilliant and nice staff but new management not working.will put complaint on website not happy.

Very, very disappointed... went there with a friend today who lives local...love Ember Ins to be honest but this...Watch the wine list (actually I am surprised Croydon trading standards are not on to them!}. My friend paid bill at bar my having had a glass of Sauvignon blanc wine. As we were eating I went for another which was £9.50.... that seemed extortionate to me. However I accepted it. To cut a long story short, when the sever came to the table to bring another item to my friend, I brought the drinks list to her attention...it seems they only list wine at medium and bottle, I had large glass, not only that but without being informed the one on the list was replaced with a more expensive glass because the the other was not available, she had not informed me of this at all and when I pointed out wine list prices and the fact that whilst medium glass was priced no reference to large , she just smiled...this is totally dishonest...never again...never, and this is certainly not my experience of Ember Inns.. my friend incidentally had to request a part of her meal that was burnt..replaced but overall sorry,, no!

Popped in with husband and friend for a quick lunch. (Glass of wine and the cottage/shepherds pie (with pulled lamb). Very tasty and appetising. Can recommend although if I wanted to be picky, I would have like just a little more potato topping (IMO)

We recently had a gender reveal here. The staff were great and everyone complemented the food. Great vibe and definitely recommend.

Two of us had the roast The potatoes were hard and tasted like semi boiled potatoes dipped briefly in oil. Shame as, the rest of it was good. A person with us had so called posh and chips, the chips were only half cooked with the ones at the bottom half white. We told the waiter who shrugged slightly and walked away without comment . The younger waiter was sullen and chewing gum all the time. Won't go there again.

Me and friend came her for Saturday lunch, what a big mistake that was . We ordered are food at 14.20 we got I food after asking many times how long the food would take . Are food came to the table at 15:30. And let me tell you about the good, my fish was burnt, the chicken for the ciabatta was extra crispy(burnt) All I have learnt that I will not be going there again .

Went in for the 1st time with my family for sunday Roast . 2.30pm. All sold out of beef. Which when the menu is just beef or chicken is automatically disappointing. . We were then told food would be 15 minute to an hour. We said fine. Over an hour later we received starters. Very oily mushroom. Dry greasy cheesy garlic bread. Wings were ok to be fair. The mains came 30 minutes later . All cold all looked reheated. The chicken was abysmal no flavour undercooked and inedible. Potatoes tasted like packet potatoes. We quickly gave up and requested clearing so we could have deserts and leave. Guess what NO ICE Cream. 3 of the kids had ice cream as desert of choice . I requested a refumd as by nie 2 hours had passed and this wasnt getting better. Ambience wasnt great. Tables stick. Alumiminium foil in the mens toilets on the pipes. Its a shame. Outstanding location. Good parking. If this could sort out its operation could be awesome for the area

Great day with the ex-CIPFA crew

I'd visited previously, which was an ok experience. Yesterday, however, the food was abysmal. My niece ordered gammon & pineapple. She was given the most miniscule piece of pineapple you could imagine & that's all they had allegedly. I was told there were no veggie burgers, so I had a wrap instead. It was like trying to get through cardboard. Things only picked up on the desserts, which we enjoyed. My first glass I returned as it was filthy. The coffee was served in glasses with no handles, so they had to be replaced, in order to avoid third degree burns. The whole lunch was a disgrace, you need to do better.

Always a friendly welcome, though sometimes the food is edible rather than fantastic.

Range of drinks was fine, service was fine - food was AWFUL. I ordered a medium-rare steak which came burned to a crisp - black on the outside, brown and chewy inside. Possibly the worst steak I've ever eaten. It was supposed to come with "a flat mushroom" - I expected a reasonably-sized portobello, but I got the head of ONE SINGLE mushroom, about the size of a 10p piece. I asked for a side-salad instead of chips, and got a dish of lettuce with literally three strands of red onion. The dish was supposed to include "Crispy Onion Fries" but didn't. The garden peas amounted to about a dessert spoonful and were cold. If I wasn't in a hurry and it wasn't so cheap, I would have asked for it to be cooked from scratch or for my money back. As it was, I ate and left. And I won't be coming back - at least, not to eat.

Had to use one of the hight chairs for my grandson which was absolutely disgusting , had to ask some to clean it, then got asked if it was clean enough for our satisfaction, in my opinion it should be kept clean anyway. The food was either over cooked or under cooked. Would not recommend.....

Really disappointed they’ve not really done anything special for the euros like previous years. The last euros there was 10 TVs outside a great atmosphere special football deals. This year is dreadful in there! Also the bar staff have no clue what they’re doing ordered 2 jagerbombs & it took 3 staff members to put them together needed up with half a pint of redbull and a jäger shot on the side 🤣🤣🤣bring Abdul back he knew how to run a proper fun pub!

The Crown- Ember Inns- firstly i fancied a Sunday lunch ,as in the past when we went to the Toby it was awful- we decided never to go there again ! ! I thought we ( My son , myself and my sons best friend ) would try somewhere a little more local, id looked on line for the prices and to see if they did a veggie option , and reasonable portions for the price, and all seemed in order. This Sunday was overcast but warm so we diecided to sit outside , Outside in the Crown is a lovely large garden seated area, so we prdered some non alcoholic drinks, which was ok and found a table and ordered . I found out at 4pm they had run out of all the vegetarian options, which wasnt a great start , and so i had to get thme to ask the chef if he could put scampi with my roast , the chef ( if you could call him that ) agreed, So my Son and his mate orderd the sharing dinner ( chicken and ham ) two meats, and veg and potatoes, meant for sharing , but its not big enough to share, so they had one each - and i had a mix up of scampi and veg , and potatoes, . Its describes as omming with a rich gravy - lumpy gravy ! The roast potatoes were overdone to a crisp and had no potato inside, and the veg wasnt cooked properly , some over cooked some undercooked , quite frankly it was revolting ! I decided that after that revolting roast , id try some of their desert , i thought it cant be as bad , - it was- it was shop bought, i had a caramel cheese cale whoch was supposed to be with raspberries, and it came with black currants , the boys had stiky toffee pudding, which we all agreed was shop bought, and birds eye custard ! The whole price for the drinks and the food was about £68.00 for the three of us , and i will not ever eat there again ! As a pub its quite nice, the food is abysmal !!!
