The Dukes Umbrella in Glasgow City

Had a work Christmas dinner here. It was fantastic. Food great, drinks fab, staff amazing. And such a lovely cosy atmosphere with live music.

Our first visit to The Duke’s Umbrella was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and promptly seated in such a cute area with character and ambiance. Georgie, our server, provided impeccable service—attentive, effortlessly charismatic and went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our visit was a perfect 10. In particular, she handled dietary restrictions with exceptional care and precision. What a host. We were out for our Christmas lunch, and it couldn't have been better. The atmosphere, service, and overall experience were outstanding!

Nice just that the sitting arrangement isn't so nice in the sense that if a person sitting in the middle needs to stand up in a group gathering, every other person will have to stand up

Ate here on two successive nights. The haunch of venison was fantastic, the next night I had delicious pork steak and fries. All topped off with excellent service - thank you Georgina!

I like the Duke’s Umbrella but not as much as I’d like to and not as much as other reviewers, it seems. The decor is good, blending American diner with Scottish city-centre pub nicely. Good music too and not too intrusive. The food is good all round (if a little pricey for what you get). However, the place feels under-staffed and you can wait a looooooong time at the door to be seated then another looooong time for your drink order to be taken. The staff are cheerful and helpful, I just think there simply aren’t enough of them. One minor point is that it might be a good idea to look up how to make an Irish coffee. The one I had is not how you do it 😬 But a likeable place with decent food.

You'll love the ambiance here. It's decorated with black textured wallpapers and antiques all over. It gives a look of the dark library that the Duke might have used to cost up near the fire. You can easily have a candle lit lunch here. They use real candles on all tables and fireplace to add to the feel. The menu was quite limited but everything we had was beautifully presented and quite delicious. We went on a Friday and I personally felt that the food was quite expensive. Compared to other restaurants you'll pay around 5 to 7 pounds more per food item from the mains menu. This is not a complain, just a comparison.

Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Service was so good and everyone was happy to make small alterations that we asked for. Cocktails by Ana were the best we'd ever had - fab-u - lous!!! Georgie was brilliant and manager (didn't catch his name) couldn't do enough. All in all, an incredibly evening

Had a great Sunday lunch here, the soup was simply amazing! Pie was really tasty and filled with chunks of meat, thought bangers & mash could use more taste and mash was a bit dry to our liking. Haggis tortilla was delicious!

Great place! The food quality is supreme; in this place, a simple fish and chips meal is taken to a higher level. Loved the concept and the quality of food. The waiters service is a little poor, don't be surprised if you wait longer than needed to take on your order or request or if the waiter does not provide a kind service.

Starter chicken pate OK but nothing special beef roast dinner was cold but OK . We have been asked about allergens , we have dog and cat allergy ,,, and we were surrounded by dogs barking and fighting . We were forced to leave the restaurant without finishing the meal. But we have pay the full price. Not happy- will strongly not recommend.

Soup was fantastic so was wine. But main not so good cold not hot and dogs on 3 tablets round us. I have a allergy to dogs so for me no good inside look good but they should let people know a

Incredible tasty food, beautiful ambience and stunning place and decor. They had a private event and still let us in for a few hours before it started. I also forgot to ask for my itemised receipt for expenses so emailed them the following morning with a request to WhatsApp me a copy and they did straight away. That’s above and beyond on top of a wonderful evening so I’d definitely recommend!! Thank you for everything!!

Seen this place a few times, decided to stop in this time on my trip to Edinburgh and it didn’t disappoint. I got there Sunday beef special which was very good.

Beautiful atmosphere, excellent food and perfect service. We loved pan roasted chicken and lamb and the almond orange tart.

The place had an amazing atmosphere with delicious food… couldn’t criticise anything. Highly recommend the Lamp Rump, and the Almond Orange Tart was fantastic. Will come again.

My husband and I had a wonderful time last night. The music was lovely and our waitress Georgina was an absolute star giving us advice on what to try and looking after us. Great place to go!

Had a nice lunch here today. The menu is varied and the food we had was really good. Only disappointment was not knowing about the vegan menu until we were close to leaving. The veggie haggis sounds fascinating but sadly we missed out. *Update- we returned today and had the veggie haggis. Thought it was excellent. Sadly, I've had to downgrade my initial 5 star review to a 4 star review as the attitude of the barman leaves a lot to be desired and I've felt this on both visits, but more so today.

Fantastic food in a fun atmosphere. Service was fast and friendly. If you're in the area, I highly recommend a visit.

Sensational Sunday Roast menu at the Duke Of Windsor bar & grill. Loved the exceptional seasonal pie (sausage and haggis). Cool playlist and relaxed vibe. Recommended!

First off Peter, our server, did a great job with agreeing or suggesting various items and drinks. Water keep full and finished courses removed in a timely manner. Pricey but worth it for special occasions. £35 per person before drinks and fine bottle of champagne. I had a new item on the starter menue; Samon Rillettes is fabulous! Everyone fully enjoyed their meal. Staff was very accommodating and changed our reservation last minute.

Great place, just a stones throw away from Central Station. Food is very tasty with plenty of choice. Service is fab, very accommodating. Prices reasonable for city centre.

Just stopped in for a drink but know from experience how good the food is.

Came here late on a Sunday evening, was made to feel very welcome and got settled into a nice comfy booth. Informed the kitchen was closing soon so we got our food order in quick. Food (veggie sausages, mash and onion gravy) was very tasty and just what we needed after a long day. Good vegetarian options across the menu. Good beer and wine choices. Both of the staff that served us were really lovely and chatty. Thanks very much.

A great pub for dining. Went their twice this week and though the menu is brief, everything on there is excellent and original. The haggis was outstanding. Nice atmosphere and staff very friendly, without going over the top.

Excellent location to have a meal. It was recommended to me by a friend and it serves delicious pub fare. My meal was Haggis, neeps and tatties. Very delicious and if you have never had Haggis it will not disappoint.

We were walk ins and the host was good enough to grant us space but with added attitude and once we decided not to purchase food off the expensive menu and just have a drink. He rushed us off the table and out the door. Whole experience was awful and unnecessary from his part. The pub interior was the only nice thing about this place. Zero for hospitality.

The service was great too, our waiter Zac was very friendly & helpful in making recommendations from the menu, which my husband chose & wasn't disappointed. The Haggis & whisky sausage & mash was extremely tasty as was the roasted Striploin Sunday roast that I had. The decor inside is quirky, quite oldy worldly with a good atmosphere. Well worth a visit!👌

Excellent cocktail, by the fire, Glenlivet and marshmallows... I tried the famous haggis and I was not disappointed. Dessert: Guinness panna cotta! In short, no false notes! Well done!

Went for lunch with my wife on a saturday afternoon. The food was ok nothing better .the pea and ham soup was tastless and £25 each for 2 courses wasnt value for money.

The food was so good here, we went back the night after for dinner again, something I never do. The service was so great and our server Zack was the very best, he remembered all of our drink orders and the things we had loved from the night before, so a huge plus and shout-out to him for being so awesome. The bread with the whipped chicken butter that we had, was hands down the most incredible butter I have ever had in my life! IN MY LIFE! The next time we are in Glasgow this is a must!

Absolutely cracking dinner! Went on the Sunday night when they had their Sunday Roast special on and absolutely perfect. Would recommend the haggis stuffed yorkshire pudding as a side if hungry too. Zack was absolutely amazing handling our table too and went above & beyond to keep everyone happy too. Will definitely be back!

We had a very nice time at The Duke's Umbrella. The food was tasty and perfectly cooked. Our waiter Paul made us feel welcome and guided us when we tried whisky after our meal. We will gladly come back for dinner next time we visit Glasgow.

The great atmosphere of the interior allows you to really relax and eat in the great atmosphere of Scotland. The service was very nice and polite, at the highest level! The food is delicious. I highly recommend it!

It was worth the wait (unfortunately we hadn't booked): we ate three simply excellent dishes: hamburgers, haggies, beef rib. The dessert was also excellent. On our way out, we book for tomorrow evening.

Sunday roast - absolutely exceptional The food was def one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had! The service was warm, smiley and really friendly without being too much. The live music was excellent, not too loud so you can still chat away with your group and the guy was doing nirvana/smashing pumpkins/kings of Leon on the piano which was pretty cool Would Definitely recommend

First visit to the pleasant surroundings of the Dukes Umbrella. Good choice of menu, impressed with the meals, will make a return visit sometime. Friendly and attentive staff. Varied choice of drinks.

Didn't feel very welcoming. Nice looking place. Stopped for a drink, May have stopped for food if they welcomed drinkers nicely. More a restaurant than a pub. What food I seen looked nice.

The staff are excellent unfortunately the food was very disappointing. Pork (one of their most expensive dishes) was tough and starters lacked flavour.

Had a really lovely lunch here excellent value on the fixed menu - huge portions - nicest fish sandwich I’ve ever had. Was meeting friends who I hadn’t seen for ages and we ended up sitting the full afternoon chatting - we were made to feel welcome by the friendly staff. Great cocktails were enjoyed too - highly recommend.

Lovely looking gastro pub. We were sat about 1 metre from the singer, which was unexpected. Luckily he was fabulous. Opted for the set Sunday 2 course for £32. My haggis quesadilla was dry and hard to cut. Didn’t finish it. My partner had pate which he enjoyed. The Sunday roast was disappointing. Cut of meat was chewy, potatoes looked great but weren’t cooked through. The portion was poor for the price. 2 small slices of beef rump. I complained and staff were great and brought a better cooked cut out which was actually pink. Cocktails were pricey but lovely. Would return for the singer alone

Came here for dinner when I was in town for a conference, and the food was crazy good! The seasonal pie was coq au vin and it was just the best. I had excellent service from our waitress Georgina who was extremely helpful and attentive! Easily 5 stars!

Great decoration, very Scottish, the dukes pie was rich and very coarse. With that single dish it was perfect. Very close to the train station, we stopped there on the way to the hotel.

Had a lovely lunch special with my partner. Food was outstanding and service was excellent. We were served by Pete who was a really pleasant friendly chap, ensured we had everything we wanted. Thank you guys! Would definitely return! One of my new fav places to drop in when in Glasgow.

Recommended! Cozy, stylish, casual restaurant with friendly and professional staff and great but slightly expensive meat pies. That said, those pies were definitely tasty! If you are looking for a casual place to eat this is a great choice.

Dropped in last week for a late breakfast... But decided to have lunch instead. I ordered the haggis, tatties and nips having never eaten hagus before and wanted to see what the fuss was about. The food arrived quickly and was excellent. It was the kind of comfort food you'd love on a wet winters evening... but hit the spot on a not so warm July just as good.

The best meal I have had in a long time. Short rib was excellent, even the kale and carrots served with it were great. Also, the spicy margarita is perfect.

Chicken supreme and grilled pork were delicious and freshly prepared , I also recommend the Isle of Mull mac n cheese, the sticky toffee pudding was okay, not great! Staff very attentive and friendly . Unfortunately is was pretty quiet for a Saturday evening , but I will definitely come back.

Went on Father’s Day after being previously for Sunday roast and thought we’d try it for this special occasion. Unfortunately we were not as impressed as the last time we visited. My dad’s mashed potato with his haggis dish was cold as if it had just been sitting out and then put on the plate when someone ordered it. My partners meat with the roast was tough and not as soft or as tender as the first time we went. We then had sticky toffee pudding which in my opinion should be served warm,’or at least the sauce should be and it was not. All round a bit of a disappointing meal. The live music was good 👍🏼

Sat at a table and waited 1 hour for food to arrive. After no response from wait staff we left without eating.

We got a table spontaneously and ate really well. The haggis was incredibly good. We recommend. The atmosphere is also super cozy and diverse.

Everything was fantastic! I had the ham and lentil soup and it was every bit as good as my mom would have made. The pork that my husband had was unbelievably good. 10/10.

We were a booking of 12 and the service was great, the staff were on the ball and preemptive. They helpfully brought a coat rack up to the table to we could hang jackets. The food was lovely, quick to arrive and generous portions.

Georgie was our server tonight, and she was phenomenal. She was patient with all the questions we had, and was very knowledgeable about the menu, and even if she didn’t know something, she wouldn’t hesitate to go and ask about it. Food was also amazing! Highly recommend the chicken supreme, every bite of it was delicious.

I popped in today and discovered they have a lunchtime deal. Weirdly, I wasn’t ravenous so went for the main course of west coast seafood stew that cost £12.50 which considering the quality of the ingredients, is a steal. It tasted really great with super fresh haddock, salmon and mussels in a lovely broth and made me wish I’d had 2 courses instead! I will be back

My second visit to this lovely gastro pub. My 1st was superb!! The fish and chips with lobster bisque was tasty but a bit of green veg would make it nicer. The thrice cooked chips are delicious. The steak and pepper sauce with fries was delicious but again no veggies to brighten the plate but an enormous portion of skinny fries? We had a good bottle of Prosecco but at £32 I probably wouldn’t get it again. I will go back in the future.

Visit on a fairly regular basis on a Friday or Saturday, usually early evening. The menu is not vast but the quality, flavour, portion size and presentation of starters/mains/desserts is consistently impressive. Bar and restaurant area are always lively without being overcrowded and the atmosphere relaxed. Service is friendly and efficient and a particular mention to the charming young lady (Georgie?) who has recently joined the team as a server and is most attentive and really enhances the dining experience. Highly recommended.
