The Gardeners Rest in Sheffield

Amazing place, we have visited Sheffield and ended up in this pub listening to local Christmas carols. Simply amazing

Miserable, unfriendly staff and not much atmosphere in the pub. Card payments only as well, which I'm not a fan of. It isn't a pub I'd go back to.

The Gardeners Rest is an excellent place to spend the evening. The service from the bar staff is always friendly, there is a good selection of both beer and cider available and plenty of bar snacks to work your way through. The pub is always welcoming in the winter and in summer, you can enjoy the beer garden overlooking the river.

Great ale pub, they always have a really good selection of beers on. Nice hidden garden overlooking the River Don at the back.

One of my favourite pubs, mainly for it's it's range of real ales. Now it seems to be benefitting from its new neighbours, Heist. Unfortunately liable to flooding occasionally.

Me and my friend walked in Saturday afternoon and there was no one behind the bar. Waited a little while then walked out again as still no one appeared. I wish their continued success despite the radical business strategy we witnessed...

Got in at 2205hrs to be told they'd be calling last orders at 2300. Ordered a beer and enjoyed it but only got rude reactions from the staff when we queried them closing so early. ( Check the website, the hours are posted outside). Won't be going back in a hurry.

Decent enough pub but card only. I don’t appreciate being told how to spend my money when I’m doing them a favour buying their beer so one star only.

One of the best pubs in Sheffield, with undoubtedly the best beer garden, overlooking the river Don. Always have nice beers on, a good selection of snacks, live music regularly, and the staff are very nice and friendly.

It was very quiet on our visit, the barman was very good and the beer quality was good, as always.

Good real ale on good place to meet up with friends afternoon or evening

Worth a bit of a walk up to Neepsend. We really enjoyed some traditional British beer sitting outside by the river. The barman was very helpful too.

Nice local pub in Neepsend area with a good beer garden and conservatory overlooking the river to the rear. Friendly service. Decent selection of hand pulled ales at a reasonable price. Will definitely return again soon.

This is a lovely pub, but it's cashless, so it's no longer for me I won't give my custom to any business that refuses cash. #cashisking

Fantastic real ale pub. This is what a proper pub looks like. Great ales, lagers, and everything else. Friendly and helpful staff. Live music often, and lovely views of the river too.

Solid locally owned pub - the selection is decent. Predominantly cask with a couple of fairly standard keg lines.

Food expensive , wasn't very hot either.

Sometimes I like drinking beer and eating crisps in a pub. This satisfied all criteria. Top notch.

What a great pub, inviting, plenty of rooms and space inside. Quick to get served. Drinks a reasonable price. Bar staff were very friendly and helpful.

I love the garden, with the river out back, plenty of space. Some games and sometimes some.casual music indoors and a bar billiard table. It lost a star for being cash-free, which is not helpful, and coz they close the bar billiards table too often. But other a really great pub with excellent selection of beers. Recommended.

In amongst the hipster wannabe trendy bars of Neepsend, The Gardeners Rest is amongst the few remaining traditional pubs. Great beer and a nice little beer garden on the river. Normally do a nice pork pie too.

1st time in over 40 yrs since I last went in here,,what a fantastic pub this is,,great service from 2 young barmen,,polite,and friendly,,,makes a great change from some bar people,,,,,we will certainly be back soon,,,,100%,,,again,,well done the 2 lads,,,

Great beer, excellent staff and a fab ambience!

Usually enjoy this pub but this visit totally spoiled by very arrogant staff member who took offense that my friend couldn't accept the almost black coffee she was served. Said had run out of milk and stomped off in a huff because she couldnt drink it. Young man who served us with beers was very friendly and efficient (only been working there a week). Lovely conservatory and garden at the back.

Quality real ale. Good setting next to the river. Funky area. Difficult to leave after a couple, you just want to stay all day.

First rate community pub. Very popular. Great range of beers to try.

Loved coming here for the last 12 years+ the pub is lovely and unique with a good selection of drinks, the only issue is the customer service which is in need of serious repair, perhaps due to the popularity of the area and the bars either side but we were treated like cattle last time I was there with little regard for any level of customer service, with aggressive bar staff, regrettably I don’t think it will feature on future visits to Kelham, you can do better folks! This is a place for people to relax!

Smaller than expected and a bit old man-y but does the job and it’s def more of a proper pub than some of the other beverage establishments nearby

Good beer and a Bar Billiards table. Heaven ! One year on and Bar Billiards table shut for the weekend. Gutted ! Need more staff at busy periods too. We counted around 2 dozen who came in and turned around without buying a drink in a 10 minute period early evening. That's a lot of lost revenue....

Great local, bargain sandwiches, perfectly kept beers, it's all level access with a pretty standard, but spacious enough accessible toilet. Loved sitting in the conservatory in the rain.

Proper Pub. Wide selection of beers. Relaxed atmosphere. Lovely riverside beer garden.

Love this place. The oatmeal stout was amazing last time I visited I really enjoy turning up on a Friday, not long after its opened for a pint and a read of my magazine. Lovely on a nice warm day to sit in the beer garden overlooking the river. One of Sheffield's special places

decent little traditional pub with a good range of beers and a beer garden if you want to sit outside. lost a star because last time I was here there was a mannequin dressed in world war one gear with poppies all over it which was both creepy & cringey

When in Kelham Island, always come here. The staff are really friendly. The ABK HELL lager tastes great

Arguably one of the best beer gardens in Sheffield. Super love the love folk music vibes too.

Went to see a friend's band playing ,The Crafters. Good atmosphere, good selection of beers.

There are not enough words to explain how fantastic this little pub is. Right on the edge of this, relatively,new student occupied quarter, but close enough to all the other bars and restaurants that are helping to change the, once, heavily industrialised area. Lovely beer garden overlooking the river... Look out for the kingfishers darting past.

Such an incredible place! You can play games while drinking your beer, and sit in the beautiful beer garden there, which is right next to the river! Definitely worth the sight!

Nice pub, a bit expensive but not excessively. The smoking area is cool but it's no cash at the bar which would stop me from returning as I often can only use cash,

Its a nice space and the staff tonight were capable and friendly, but it closes unusually early and they stop the musicians playing music even earlier than that at 10.20pm. for a pub thats not in a residential area that ridiculously early and the point at which nights actually warm up.

Gardeners Rest a lovely pub. Very clean; good friendly barstaff lots of real ale beers to choose from; also bottle beers. Sandwiches ; crisps and nuts available. The pub is quirky, can spend a while just looking at photos etc on the walls Outside is brilliant in the warm weather. A pub you could have one drink , but then again with so much to offer you will want to stay.
