The Horseshoe in Southwark

A large pub that attracts both locals and visitors, the latter helped by it being 2 minutes' walk from London Bridge station. There is outdoor seating both on the street at the front and side and in the garden at the back (which is covered in winter). Good beers and efficient, friendly staff.

Excellent pub when it’s quiet, absolutely heaving when it’s peak hours. This is a lovely little pub near London Bridge station with a nice garden with seating in the back and front. The food is very good, I recommend the burgers. Pints are typical price for this part of London but altogether a great little spot in the area.

Popped in for a couple of pints on Saturday 28th December with family (6 of us). Fantastic atmosphere, buzzing with locals and not too late. Busy, great fun.

Nice pub but a bit understaffed for the number of customers.

Had lunch at Horseshoe. The meal seemed like it might have been well-cooked initially but had likely spent too long in a heater. Parsnip: Well cooked, but bordering on overdone. Carrots: Overcooked. Potatoes: Likely crispy at one point, now soggy. Cabbage: Met expectations, though poorly drained, contributing to watery gravy. Yorkshire pudding: Doughy in the middle. Beef: Once well-cooked but now soggy and unappealing. Gravy: Watery and overly salty. With few diners present, it’s surprising that a fresh Yorkshire pudding wasn’t prepared. Overall, the meal lacked freshness and balance—a disappointing experience.

Great atmosphere. Good drink options. Sick sausage sandwich, hot tip: ask to swap out the crisps for chips - worth the extra £2.

Quiet at lunchtime. Visited in December, found it a bit on the chilly side inside. Nice fish and chips, nice staff. Very busy by the time we left in the evening. Fairly simple menu but all seemed decent.

Lovely bar. Takes cash, warm, quite good acoustics, great staff...reasonably priced. Vegetarian food options, sells Red Bull. Even has a couple of friendly cats! Cool decor too.

We ordered Nachos and a pizza, it was very generous and really good !! We were really positively surprised

Nunca es fácil atender a un grupo grande, pero el personal era muy amable y atento. Gran ambiente, buena comida y una encantadora sensación de comunidad para el pub en comparación con los establecimientos más grandes y antipáticos. Todos estábamos tan impresionados que reservamos nuestro evento de Navidad antes de salir. Una mención especial a Anit que era muy servicial y un activo para el pub.

Ok central meeting place pub. Very expensive and the food is a bit stingy. Also loads of people smoking made it hard to enjoy the food we ordered.

Great pub in central London. It has lots of outdoors seating, so highly recommend on a nice day. My favourite spot is the top balcony that looks over vinegar yard. You can order off the table QR code or st the bar. Inside has nice decor!

The bartender who was not fluent in English didn’t take our order correctly and the five of us ended up eating at different times as we had to return a couple of times to correct the situation. We complained to the manager and her response was “you get what you pay for”. There was no apology, no offer to make things right. Since moving to Borough, we’ve frequented the Horseshoe every week for drinks and food — that stops now. Such a shame that Horseshoe’s crew cannot see the lifetime value of a customer and fix things when they mess them up.

Despite working just round the corner from the horseshoe, it took me years to discover this gem. A quirky pub with new areas to discover each time, this establishment has turned into one of my favourites in London. Make sure to try the pizza!

Very nice pub off the beaten track off the main drag of Bermondsey Street. A hidden treasure for sitting outside. Food is reasonable and a good selection of beers

Love this place. A proper SE London pub. Not pretentious. No city boys. Great atmosphere and very welcoming.

It cost £91 for a double on a Saturday night in July 2024. Facilities were excellent and staff were friendly. Will be using them again.

Nice pub. Drinks came very late but I imagine that was because there was a crowd of people to attend to. The rooftop was nice and breezy which I liked.

Went for a Writers mixer. Plenty of space & quiet enough for good chats if you reserve the upstairs balcony.

Bad service sadly. Half the team were friendly, but the staff who were obviously here longer just really didn't care about their customers one bit. Closed the kitchen early after telling us there were open until ten. Had to constantly ask for toilet paper for the women's toilets. Could be so much better, but the managers were not on the ball. I'd suggest finding somewhere else to drink / eat where you'll get a better experience overall.

Super busy pub. We came to get a quick dinner and the service was very slow - easy to see they were a bit overwhelmed with customers. Fish and chips took almost a half hour to come from the kitchen.

Great pub, But 3 thick to get to the bar on a Thursday evening, and a massive wait, and the men's toilet is in a terrible state. Great outdoor seating however and a great vibe.

Great pub with decent beers by the station. Loads of outside space front and back. Was very busy with the post office crowd however still pretty quick service. QR code order took a while but bar service speedy.

Good pub with lots of seating outside, upstairs and on the balcony. The outside seating has heated lamps too. There are QR codes on the tables to scan for drink and food menus to get them delivered to the table. Good drinks selection and the pizzas are extremely good! Understandably there can be slow service if the place is busy. They also offer NHS discount with an I.D. when paying at the bar.

The pub is decent enough for a drink or three but the food is just not worth it. Went for a Sunday roast and my food was practically swimming in the gravy. The supposed Yorkshire pudding was basically bread and the potatoes must have been deep-fried with how rock-hard and crispy they were. Overall the food is subpar and definitely not worth it but I guess it was a decent enough place to have a drink sometime.

Popped in after an excellent lunch at Casse-Croute down the road. Had a few mulled wines 🍷 😎 and drinks with great friends. A great afternoon was had by all...hic!

Lovely heated area at the back. Easy to get served fast even on a busy Friday night.

Stopped for a glass of wine on a freezing cold Saturday afternoon. Busy, buzzy and relatively tourist free. Fantastic old school boozer with a decent pub menu.

Great atmosphere inside and out. Nice amount of space and okay food for pub food. The only downside here was the temperature in the annex area, a little too cold every time the door was opened.

After two years of mental health recovery (paranoid schizophrenia), I asked the security guard if he can talk to the manager about me being let back in. I’m Bulgarian and I have been diagnosed, never had real trouble at the venue apart from arguing one time that I was not drunk(Once). She said no after a two year hiatus, spoke through her security and was rude to the point of aggression.

Typical London pub, large outdoor section for a pint, service is exceptionally fast compared to usual pubs. Great for drinks with large groups! Onion rings were great too

Photo on website showing Foster's on draught was the ONLY reason we visited, of course we were greeted by a totally different choice of the ubiquitous craft beers. Stayed for one pint of Amstel and that was only because the barmaids were very attractive. Very dissappointed.

My friend booked a table here for his birthday. Someone had taken his seat and headbutted him. The bouncer just looked on and did nothing. When I called the police, they reviewed the CCTV footage, verified the attack and arrested him. My friend emailed the owner about this and was ignored. He left a review here of the incident, to which the owner denied the incident despite the police arresting the attacker. Would avoid this pub.

I went here in 2020 during lockdown. My friend was headbutted after someone had sat on the table we had reserved for his birthday, and didn't want to move. My friend calmly explained about the reservation and was promptly knocked to the floor. The staff and bouncer did nothing to help or intervene, because they seemed scared of the customer, despite it being witnessed on CCTV. I emailed the owner, who to be fair said he was 'appalled' and 'was looking into the facts of what happened' but after this went silent. It would be safer to go somewhere else. Edit - just posting initial response verbatim in case it gives some context to review viewers. To say I am appalled by what I have heard and seen , would be an understatement! Please give me some time to find out the facts regarding this matter and I will get back to you again . There is NEVER an excuse to do what this person did , luckily he was arrested and CCTV footage has been given to The Police and I hope The Courts take The Strongest Punishment available to them .

We visited this pub as it was used to fil the pub scenes in the iconic series Ashes to Ashes. We weren't disappointed in the pub but unfortunately the food was a tad disappointing. Portions sizes were adequate but the dush I ordered Nuced bean chilli was v disappointing. It lacked flavour and the rice was very clsggy/sticky... Not fluffy at all. My husband had the beef roast which he thought was OK but wouldn't have again. V disappointed. Wouldn't recommend for food but OK for a drink.

Ordered a vegetarian pie and my friend ordered a steak pie. When it arrived I was handed the vegetarian pie (the sun had set by this point and there was no lighting outside). I started eating and after the first bite I then realised I had been given my friend’s steak pie by mistake. I didn’t cause a scene and we just swapped them over but it was the first time I have eaten beef as I am vegetarian for religious reasons but it could have been much more serious if I had an allergy. The kitchen should have some way of identifying the vegan/ vegetarian dishes so the servers don’t get confused. I went down afterwards and calmly explained the mistake and the staff member was very understanding and apologetic (all the staff at this pub were exceptional apart from Tom). She went and got the owner (Tom Collie) and I asked if he would be willing to make a small gesture to smooth it over (ie a half pint of beer) and he said an (insincere) apology is all I will get. Completely his choice to run his business like that and to not take customer complaints seriously so here is my review of his rude attitude. In response to his comment: I would agree with you if we had received two steak pies - obviously I would have mentioned to the staff about the mistake. But we received one vegetarian pie and one meat pie so all we had to do was swap them over. I was told that the meat pie was the vegetarian pie and started eating it before realising. The fact that you call me a “scammer” tells everyone on here all they need to know. That you don’t believe customers when they complain and you don’t take their complaints seriously.

Lovely pub hidden away from London Bridge Station area with a delicious Sunday roast. Great beers on tap and reasonable London prices. Lovely staff and nice atmosphere. Two lovely cats are sometimes about and also awesome as used as "The Railway Arms" in the Ashes to Ashes TV series.

Order at table via their table app. Get charged but no service. Take it to the bar and they said it’s not our fault it’s the service provider (are they owned by British Airways?! So refuse to give me the drink I’ve paid for. Unbelievable!

Reasonable beer, but the atmosphere has changed recently. I've been here many times over the last 3 decades, but it seems to have become a high-volume impersonal place lately.

Great place for a pint! The food that we had was pretty good as well. We enjoyed the beef and Guinness pie and mashed potatoes. The service was quick and you used an app to order which streamlined the process well.

I have been meaning to visit here for ages and thats probably part of why I was so disappointed. Looks nice and was strangely quiet even though it was just after work so nice to have a garden seat. Standard high prices for lager (just under £7 a pint) that you are used to around here but it wasn't even chilled properly and that's just not good enough. I tried a second (a third of the first one watered the plants) but same again so really disappointed. It could be a real gem, even with the price, but bad housekeeping let's it down

Great pub for food and drinks with a lovely beer garden. Central…but ‘local’

We ventured here as fans of Ashes to Ashes and it was well worth the sojourn. Aside from the fun of seeing "heaven", the pub is so atmospheric, so intrinsically English and so welcoming. And the food was fantastic... we shared platters which were delicious and great value and the drinks were also enjoyed in a beautiful setting. We would love to have heard about the history of the pub but staff didn't seem to know a great deal but that is just nitpicking as they were terrific overall.

A hidden gem. Largely locals with great food and HAS CATS. VERY CUTE ONES. Vibes are immaculate. Wish they had more interesting nonalcoholic drinks though.
