The Last Talisman in Southwark

Food was very nice and both the starters and mains came out really fast. Alex, our waiter for the night was kind, fast and efficient, even though the restaurant was quite busy. Many thanks to him because he made us feel very welcome. Looking forward to returning!

Strange rules regarding happy hour in this place. Server came to take drink orders and informed us we were ineligible for 2 for 1 cocktails as our booking was for 10 or more people. This was easily circumvented by ordering from the bar, so no idea why this rule is even in place. Have never come across this in London before!

Bottomless brunch disappointing. Food very tasty but service very poor. Took about 15 minutes for drinks to arrive even when restaurant was not busy and then had to ask for further drinks everytime. I wouldn’t say worth the £37!

Ordered Korean fried chicken, it was literally just fried chicken topped with korean sauce. The Pork Bao Buns were basically just fat that after you cut it off only had a little meat left. Only good thing were the Edamame. Got 50% off with TheFork, so didn't complain too much. Wouldn't recommend going.

Really nice food, especially sunday roasts. shame they removed the bottomless version. Blue badge holders are also restricted to 3mnths of the year but other than that really nice evening for my family.

Fui al brunch mágico por el cumpleaños 40 de un amigo y después de un poco de confusión para empezar lo pasé fantástico. Nos dieron una copa de prosecco y un cóctel para llevar a ver el espectáculo de magia que era fantástico, así como las bebidas. Luego regresar al restaurante para pedir comida y bebidas todo incluido (en ese momento comenzaron los 90 minutos). Gran servicio, buena comida y probablemente tuvimos unas 5 bebidas cada uno incluyendo cócteles que eran todos agradables.

Thank you Liv for an outstanding evening! We came for a cocktail class but we stayed for so much more. The cocktails made by Liv were absolutely amazing and we had so much fun with her. We can only recommend the Last Talisman (especially if Liv is behind the bar). Thank you!

We spend New Years Eve here and we wouldn’t recommend it. The food was really bad: we tasted a lot of different dishes but didn’t like any of it - it didn’t taste fresh and the balance with consistency and spice was totally off. Several people left the restaurant and didn’t eat what they ordered. We tried two of their special cocktails that didn’t taste good. Then we ordered an amarato sour and it was okay. We only stayed because of the DJ and the magician who did a really good job!

Sunday 5th went to 'The Last Talisman' and ordered the Duck Bao and the Beef Sirloin. Turns out, the 'Last' in the name wasn't just for show... No food! We left... What a bad joke, Waiter was OK, manager a bit of attitude. Avoid...

Food was great although the portions were a little small for what was paid. The staff were friendly and welcoming although everything felt a little rushed on their end - perhaps they were too busy?

I rang this morning at 10am to book a table for 8-10 at 9pm. I rang them specifically to make sure their bar food was still serving. The person on the phone said yes and made a specific note in the booking that my show finished at 8:30 and we’d be there by 9. Half of us arrived 9:03 and the rest 9:07. The ones that got there first were not approached by a member of staff for any food or drinks order and by the time I went to the bar at 9:17 to ask why no one had been over then told me kitchen had closed. I had booked the table with people wanting drinks and food at 9pm and turned up close to that time to then be ignored by the bar staff who then wouldn’t serve us food. We all left and went to another restaurant. Don’t let people book a take if you can’t serve us food and drinks at the right time.

We had our team Xmas dinner here. The waiters and waitress were really rude. The mushrooms on a skewer, please they were lolly sticks, with 3 tiny mushrooms on them, think they were off. They bought out complimentary soup, more like salted dishwater with polystyrene bits in. My curry was so bland, i couldn't taste any curry flavours. The rum cocktail, no rum taste at all. Worst restaurant I have ever been to in my life. I was so hungry by the time I got home, had a mcdonalds, that tasted better than the meal. Not worth the £43

Lovely evening with colleagues. Can’t say too many good things about this restaurant though. The staff were good but the manager was rude. Name begins with Z. I complained about having one duck pancake when it stated on menu in a plural sense. The manager said that was ridiculous! If I said that in my job, I would get a disciplinary or even the sack! The general consensus was that he was rude and had no etiquette. The food was nice but the quantity was tiny! They were too fast with all the meals like we were a disturbance to them. Not worth the £45 especially when it was supposed to be a PREMIUM meal! Some of you might have a different experience but I didn’t enjoy this place. I was still hungry when I left this place which defeats the purpose of going to a restaurant!

Probably 10th time have been here. Food is great, and they often have great promos on drinks. A hidden gem.

So many of our entire group got false charged. The bartender adds a fake service charge knowing people are drinking and then doesn’t show you the card machine when charging in order to get more tips from himself. Our group all experienced the same thing, and we have no issue with expensive bars but the drinks were reasonably priced so these service charges were completely fake and extortionate

La comida era tibia y tenía que ser enviado de vuelta. A su regreso, un pelo estaba en mi comida que nos compensó para la segunda comida como resultado. A pesar de nuestra ubicación de la mesa inmediatamente fuera de la entrada del bar, y ella caminando varias veces, nuestro servidor (solo uno de dos para todo el restaurante) nunca hizo contacto visual a pesar de que saludamos a solo unos metros de distancia. Welcomed by front of house well and taken to seat had a discount I informed them of. The waiter was very attentive and allowed time for us to look at the menu and order drinks after. We were a party of two and order one large plate abd three sides which I’d recommend minimum of 2 dishes each as it’s a tapas style. We got CHEF’S SPECIAL THAI BEEF SALAD , dirty rice , Mala chips & cauliflower tempera . Really enjoyed the different flavours and a nice subtle kick with the spices

I love this place. Mt Fuji cocktail was so unique and tasty 😋 this place has independent atmosphere, music are nice and chilled, drinks are both hit and miss but I can see what they try to do, there are variety of cocktails, I would love to try them all. Highly recommended.

Pedimos unos platos pequeños. El calamar estaba bien, el vientre de cerdo estaba frío, la tempura de langostinos no tenía sabor. Los platos grandes eran cualquier cosa menos y el salmón era especialmente decepcionante ya que costaba casi £ 17 pero era más pequeño que la palma de mi mano - y tengo manos muy pequeñas, como niños. El arroz sucio era bonito (sin rima intencionada : ) . Las fichas de Masala fueron un fracaso. En primer lugar eran patatas fritas y tenían algún tipo de salsa que realmente sabía a mayo y cubierto con cebollas y algunos trozos verdes. La parte superior del brownie era demasiado difícil de cortar. El helado de semillas de amapola tenía un hermoso color carbón, pero no sabía mucho. Los inodoros eran desagradables - pisos y asientos muy húmedos y olorosos y una sensación anticuada para ellos.

This place is as close to Asian Fusion as McDonalds is to a sushi restaurant. The service was just rude (admittedly it was busy outside) but OMG the tiniest amount of joy would have been lovely. The special advertised on their mirrors had sold out.. The food is incredibly bland and most of it turned up cold. They seem to think that they can advertise Asian Fusion because they cook pretty average quality dishes and then add a 'store bought' Asian looking sauce.. Just a really shocking example of an attempt to look like an expensive place to eat (which it was!) Would never ever return!

Brilliant Magical Brunch!! I have been to over 20 brunches around London and this one was such fun and great value - I had walked past the Talisman so knew the decor was on point and unique - once booked we had options of large tasty food portions and the dessert was particularly amazing (the panna cotta and creme brulee) woweee.. The cocktails were made properly and beautifully presented and the intimate magic show was spectacular - really-how did he do it!?? Have recommended to all my friends - best 50 quid I ever spent 💕💕

From an American tourist perspective: There’s not much to say about this place except everything was wonderful. Our server was friendly and efficient. The pork belly small plate is a must try!! All of the food was absolutely delicious. If we had more time here I’d keep going until I’ve tried everything on the menu!

I booked for dinner for the Sunday roast, which I and my party were looking forward to. Only for us to arrive and be told that they couldn't find our booking, then we were informed, that they do not have enough food for us despite us making a booking the month prior for our booking in September. Our options are limited to pork and chicken. The only resolution offered was to spend more money on their happy hour. I feel better could have been done to honour what we booked for when we were not just walk-ins.

A fantastic dining experience from the same team who run Opium cocktail bar in Soho, amongst other great venues. My friend and I are gluten intolerant, so we were pleasantly surprised that the gravy was gluten-free and the chef even made us special Yorkshire puddings to accommodate our dietary needs. The menu states whether a dish is GIF (gluten-intolerant friendly) so may not be suitable for celiacs). The Sunday menu was great and lovely to have Asian side dishes with a traditional Sunday roast - I recommend the cucumber salad and Adobo tofu. Crispy roast potatoes are a rarity (often they are reheated or soggy) but these were very good. The service and ambiance was great, on arrival you feel like you are instantly transported to a Balinese speak-easy bar, with intense, dim lighting and Oriental art. Will definitely be returning here for the A La Carte menu, during the week.

For work, I took members of our Board to have an evening dinner in the Zen Den at the Last Talisman. Fantastic little room with excellent atmosphere, very nice waiting staff and fantastic food. I was also impressed with how helpful the managment were beforehand to help me prepare for the evening, even cooking food to special request for some of the members who had dietary and other requirements. Really I can't recommend this place enough. Some members of the party had cocktails as well as food, they are also highly recommended.

The Last Talisman a hidden jewel! After reading a few mixed reviews online, I was skeptical about trying The Last Talisman. However, being a massive foodie and encouraged by @nightkey, I decided to give it a shot. I’m thrilled that I did. From the moment I walked in, the service was exceptional. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, making sure every part of the dining experience was seamless. The cocktails were fantastic, well crafted, balanced, and unique, setting the tone for a memorable evening. Now, onto the food. The small plates were nothing short of spectacular. The mackerel was perfectly done, and the calamari was so divine that I regretted not ordering two portions. The pork skewers and Korean fried chicken were equally great, each dish a vibrant blend of flavours that took me on a culinary journey through Southeast Asia. The fusion of cultures and flavors was apparent with every course. The salmon with coconut rice was fresh, well-cooked, and had beautifully balanced flavors. The restaurant’s take on Nasi Lemak was intriguing, and while I didn’t try it myself, I was reliably informed it was a hit. Don’t miss out on their happy hour and Sunday Roast—definitely worth checking out. I’ll absolutely be heading back, and next time, I’m bringing friends. The Last Talisman has earned a spot on my must-visit list.

Went here for the bottomless brunch and although the food and cocktails were really good, unfortunately our whole experience wasn’t great. We were sat in one of the rooms where the open kitchen is and there was pretty much no music playing and we were basically sitting in silence having our bottomless while the main room was as much more vibey and loud! We refused to pay service charge because of this and when I explained why the member of staff said the large group that was sat next to us (who left about 30 minutes after we arrived) had requested for the music to be turned right down 🤷🏽‍♀️ when they left the music wasn’t then turned back up meaning we were sitting in a boring room in the venue and tbh we both felt pretty tired and bored by the end. If you’re going to have a bottomless brunch you need to make sure the atmosphere is actually lively and upbeat… we paid £37 each for this experience and unfortunately it really wasn’t worth it! There was also no communication about when exactly our brunch would end… again is being left in this quiet room of the venue meant we weren’t checked up on much by the staff once the massive group had left.

We went for the Magical Brunch and the magician was amazing! The food was wonderful and the service was the best I've had! We had drinks to our table as we were halfway through to our drinks (not watered down either! The staff were so lovely and new a lot about their foods! Definitely recommend! Thinking of doing my hen night here!! Brilliant concept!

The magician is fantastic, his 20 seater show was intimate and cool would definitely recommend. The brunch was also nice food but the best part was how quick they are in the service! 6 drinks in less than 90 mins amazing

Not impressed with the last two visits. Table was very dirty with food remains left all over it. Asked a waitress to please clean it up. She reacted with attitude and did a lousy job barely cleaning it. Don't think I will be back anytime soon. Was a good place in the past, lost it's edge, now very average at best.

Nice decor, cool vibes. Service was quite slow, and food was just okay. Ordered the adobo tofu, fried chicken, pork belly bao buns, and grilled duck. Unfortunately, most things were overcooked. Was also there for 2-4-1 cocktails, but didn’t particularly enjoy them either. Nice try.

£16 for a SINGLE piece of salmon fillet. If you want a side (chips/rice/broccoli), gotta pay another £5 for it. All this would have been fine JF the service is good, but it’s not. The waitress really wanted to rush customers out. Came grabbing our plates when we still have some food left. Then immediately gave us the bill when we said we don’t want dessert. Yikes.

Great experience at the Last Talisman! The place is very nicely organised with interesting decorations inspired by the Asian culture. We went on a Sunday and we had a great Sunday roast. Service was excellent and great selection of drinks. Definitely recommended 😊

Lovely food but disappointed I have to rate 3 stars based on staff and drinks. Upon arrival for a food booking there is no one there to seat or greet you, just a dj. I ask the dj where to go, he says ask bar man, I ask the bar man where to go and he says to wait too. After all the waiting, the server comes over and says we’ve given away your table as it’s 16 minutes later and they have a 15 minute waiting policy. Ridiculous it’s hardly my fault! Spent half that time waiting about for her and the tables weren’t even all booked. Irrelevant of all that, it’s 1 minute over! Then have to wait an extra 15 minutes for a new table given to us by a moody, stroppy, unwelcoming waitress. Service seems to be a big let down for this place and a main problem, seemingly down to this fed up waitress. Nothing is evidently being done to solve this problem given its continuity, which is not surprising upon reading the same copied and pasted, generic, unapologetic response to other reviews. However, our male server was absolutely fantastic and is the only one of the lot who knows what good service is. Food is great however drinks are disappointing, which isn’t great for a “cocktail” bar. The Bellini promises taste of vanilla and peach with a berry topping, it literally tastes of pure Prosecco and bartender put no topping. Overall cocktails look basic, taste plain, and not special AT ALL.

Ordered the beef salad and it was awful, didn’t come with anything it said. A few leaves with no dressing for £18. We then asked to bring out a cake for a birthday and they said we would have to pay £60 if we wanted our own cake … after paying hundreds on a bill. Cocktails very over priced too. Go somewhere else !

We ordered a range of small plates plus a spatchcock chicken, coconut rice and cucumber salad. It really was awful. The restaurant was tired and smelly (the extractor fan was not effective). The waitress truly tried her best but in the conditions, I couldn’t blame her for the lacklustre approach. All dishes were tasteless, fried in dirty oil and could not possibly represent a ‘pan Asian’ genre. After settling the bill, a rat ran down the corner of the restaurant. Obviously the shock was palpable so we left the table and I approached a male ‘manager’ who was directing a member of the bar staff. I politely told him what I had witnessed and he shrugged me off. I then interrupted a large party with someone who assumed a position of authority. When I asked if he managed the place he dismissed me. Do not go to this restaurant.

Had a great meal here with my husband. We ordered 4 x small plates, 1 x large plate and 2 x sides and this was a good amount for us. A couple of things weren't amazing, such as the pork belly, which was why I knocked a point off, but in general the food and cocktails were excellent, and service was really efficient and friendly. The restaurant is decorated really nicely and there is a fabulous atmosphere. I'd definitely eat here again.

I really enjoyed the food at this place. But the portions are rather small, I'd recommend getting small plates, main and side. The desert wasn't the best and I could have done without. The service was efficient but the waitress seemed a bit fed up. Overall it was a positive experience but it's a shame they don't take Amex for payment!

This place is probably great at its bar and cocktail drinks hence ranked atmosphere higher. The ground area was pretty cool and enjoyable. I booked for a quiet area and was seated upstairs towards the end corner of the restaurant. It was placed close to the open kitchen which we thought it was nice to have such concept. However, the ventilation from the kitchen is just awful! I could smell the fried stuff coming out from the kitchen and when one table ordered a steak, I could smell the sizzling smelly aroma going to the room. I felt uncomfortable! Hence the poor rating given! Service wise, we came during Euro games and our seating was close to a TV where the game was being played. My 1 year old was trying to stare at the TV and we wanted her to not have screen time and requested waitress if we could switched it off as there was no customer around the area and mentioned they can turn it back on when customers are sat. The waitress rejected our request saying they need to turn it on to show the games as advertised. I was hoping the service staff could be more accommodating and having a bit of empathy from our request. Now food wise! Absolutely disgrace and disappointing! Not sure why this place still survived! The crispy squid wasn’t crispy enough and skin was white, the Korean fried chicken was over fried and colour turned darkish and chilli sauce was poured all over the chicken. I had to send it back the first round as it was hard. The second time was still the same and I just have nothing to say about the standards there. The bao, though the meat was ok but the sauce and the over steamed pickle on it made the bao hard to eat. The special nasi lemak, I swear the restaurant must be reusing the oil many times. The fried chicken skin was pathetic and did not look like properly fried to perfection. Don’t get started with the Sambal. It is spicy but no salt or sweetness in it. This dish will probably be banned off if you are serving this in Malaysia or Singapore. Overall, this is definitely the place that I won’t be coming back. I am glad there was 50% off on food otherwise paying full price with the food given, just not worth it!

Terrible service - was being ignored for over 15 minutes at the bar with the place not being particularly busy. When I tried to finally speak to one member of the stuff at the bar, he was just unbothered.

Show was short and the other audience members perhaps were a bit lively throughout even though they were really lovely. I think it made it a bit hard for the magician to do his performance. He was terrific and the food and drinks were great delivered by really friendly staff. I wouldn’t make this the thing that fills your day out but it’d be great for a lunch interlude.

Always wanted to try it out every time walk past it, the food was unbelievable service friendly and helpful great deals with cocktails, scenery was great had a dj as well that played the right vibe of music was a top night and will be going back that's for sure

The service from Kiran has been 10/10 never without a drink. The magic show was also amazing.

We hosted a birthday party at The Last Talisman this past Saturday night, and we had a fabulous time. Everything was super easy to organise, from the initial conversation to the evening of our party. The pre-order system for drinks and food platters is very efficient (recommend salmon/steak skewers, chicken bao buns, chips and the lemon cheesecake), and the cocktails at the bar are amazing! All our friends had a great time and raved about the drinks and the venue. We had the space at the front of the restaurant/near the bar and it was perfect for our needs. A special shout out to Raza who helped manage our event on the evening, and for taking care of all the details, as requested. We haven't eaten at the restaurant, so can't comment on the regular menu, but highly recommend it as an event space.

They could have notified me earlier, so that I could book another place! Very unprofessional! We ended up walking up and down the street trying to find another restaurant! Really disappointing!

Amazing place to go to. Drinks was amazing. Lovely staff especially Tamsin and Kiran.

Came here after a date and was greeted with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. I was served by Tamsin who was considerate of all our needs and brought my delicious roast dinner in a timely manner. The cocktails “toxic love” & “mount fuji” were the ones I tried and they were just as interesting to look at as they were delicious. Thank you for the wonderful experience Talisman & thank you Tamsin for the excellent service.

Did the Bottomless Brunch. Drinks were nice (love the Mala punch and mimosa) and the food was good. Kiran was an excellent host and brought the drinks quickly!
