The Longshore in Adur

We did the Santa breakfast and it was ok. Sadly, it didn’t have the festive atmosphere we were hoping for and our spirits were further dampened by the lack of breakfast options available to order- Everyone got the same e.g.,bacon, egg, sausage, beans, toast. There was complimentary cereal/croissant/tea/coffee/‘juice’ (squash) offered, which was a nice idea but sadly it had been ransacked and looked very unappetising. Santa in his grotto was cute. The little ones enjoyed meeting him and liked their gifts and sweets.

So 20 of us descended on this restaurant on December 28th. I thought they were never gonna get the different orders out on time together but they did! Considering other people were also dining. Food was of a good quality and nothing was missed

Absolutely shocking! Worst Christmas pub experience I’ve ever had. No one to greet to allocate table Waited 20 mins for someone to do this Had to continuously ask staff for service Waited 50 mins for a starter Additional 30 mins after starter for main course which was cold Dessert arrived 2 hrs from booked time but the wrong ones so had to wait another 15 mins for the correct ones Dogs barking Tables not being cleared, so place looked a mess Black table coverings (it’s Christmas! Could we not go red or something brighter)

Worst experience ever waited to be seated bad waited for fist drink bad wait for staters bad not even right order had booking 2till 4 still had not had main by3.50 appalling management and organisation and barking growling dog I have no words we left before main course but don’t think we missed much as others said it was terrible we had a kebab when got home it came quicker then fist drink big up hove kebab house

The staff were lovely, but honestly the service was shocking. It's Christmas day and I appreciate people working instead of spending time with their family, but we waited so long for our food. Another family walked out before their food came, the family next to us waited over an hour for their starter, people bringing dogs in that were barking at everyone walking past, it even went for a member of staff. The back door opens every 2 seconds and it was freezing. We left before our puddings arrived.

Food was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful. Missed the order ticket to start with and we had to pop to bar to check when no drinks appeared but after that fast and efficent. When dinner arrived fries had been put on one instead of chips but very quick to fix the error.

Busy but good service and food and easy parking.

We went to The Longshore for our Staff Christmas Meal (7 of us) and the staff made us feel very welcome. The service was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meals. We all had 3 courses, the Paté was delicious, the Festive Burger was huge and so full of flavour! Everyone enjoyed the Turkey roast and commented it was excellent. All desserts were also fantastic, huge portion of Sticky Toffee Pudding!! Will definitely be back. Special mention to Chris & Gavin for their great service.

Food was excellent, service was excellent, always a good atmosphere and always helpful staff. One of my favourite places.

We would not recommend this place waiting for my food for two hours then when it did turn up, it tasted like cardboard and burnt then had to check to say they’ve taken a discount off sorry I don’t want a discount.

Karen, whom I believe is the manager managed to squash a party of 22 in tonight knowing how busy she was. We all had such amazing food and drinks which were served with smiles from the lovely staff on shift. We were all greated with smiles and very welcoming behaviour. We will all certainly be returning guests.

Our group of 12 turned up without a booking and were greeted and seated with no issues at all. We had fabulous service, fabulous food and the manager was more than happy to take a photo of us all 😊 Thank you!

Had a roast turkey dinner which was really nicely cooked. Then jam sponge and custard, very nice.

They seem to have turned things around for the better which is good. Give it a try.

Reasonable prices and nice atmosphere

Went to the Longshore today and had the chicken tikka massala. Was really tasty, soft naan, crunchy poppadom and mango chutney. Just enough spice. Plus, I used my 30% off voucher. Friendly staff, all working hard. There was also a little market on in the conservatory. Some lovely gifts and treats.

Friendly staff greeting us with a nice ambience in the pub. We used 30% vouchers which was nice as the prices and food are affordable. Dog friendly too, so next time I'll be bringing my dog for his own lunch as well!

As a group of four, two of had steak which was extremely poor- tough and gristly. This was acknowledged by the friendly and understanding staff who gave us an overall discount on the total bill as compensation. The other two meals were good in comparison.

I try and bring my dad here as much as possible, he’s in dementia care home so I have to keep things that are familiar to him and we always used to go to the Longshore, I booked online and requested a table by the toilets and quiet, that’s exactly what we got, Gavin was welcoming as usual and made sure our request was all sorted before our arrival, service is quick which is great as dad doesn’t sit still for long, we always get a warm welcome.

Received some of the worse service on Sunday. Not all but most of the staff are very lazy and rude. And if you have kids, be prepared to be treated like your non existent and get put into the lesser end of the restaurant and receive minimum service. Shame on you!

All the staff were very courteous and helpful especially Gavin who took customer service to the next level when I phoned, after I got home, as my husband thought he may have left his mobile behind. Beef dripping and merlot sauce is amazing especially for dipping chips in.

Nice steak meal. Rump a bit chewy. Good chips. Only had a soft drink. Other meals, gammon and chips, and Hunters chicken advised were good. Friendly staff, waiter could do with a smarter appearance. Friendly staff, good meal for the price, would visit again

When we arrived nobody knew where to seat us, when someone did show us to our table it was still dirty, so we ended up being sat somewhere else. Our table was sticky & the area in general did not feel clean. We ordered our food at the bar as advised, we were then told that one of the items we wanted wasn't available, so we picked another item and was told this also wasn't available, after a lot of back & forth an item was picked. We were told the food would take 30-40 minutes & was almost an hour before we actually received it, this was after we went & asked how much longer it would be. Whilst eating nobody came over & asked how our meals were, there was an issue with almost every dish, however we didn't complain as we didn't want to wait any longer for food. Overall really poor service.

Tables were sticky, when I asked if the table could be wiped, I was told he could try but it probably wouldn't make any difference as it was the sanitiser that they used. Won't be returning because of the sticky tables.

Great food, kind staff, and it wasn't a long wait even though it was busy. The atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxing. I will definitely recommend longshore to anyone for a quality and inexpensive meal.

Chicken and mushroom pie was hot and tasty the chips were fabulous Very filling so no pudding required Great atmosphere plenty of people all having a great time Service was prompt and the waitress was quite chatty/friendly obviously happy in her work Thank you Alana and Dan we will be back soon

The friendlyness of the bar staff Gavin and last night was Lathen when ordering the food or drink, which makes it very homely, and the food is full of flavour and good.

Really good food gavin was so professional and kind and friendy

We were “greeted” by a sign that told us to seat ourselves and the table we happened to choose was sticky, presumably from not being cleaned properly. We ordered a simple Turkey roast and beef roast. Despite the pub being quite empty (1 hour after opening), the food still took 26 minutes. When it arrived, the small amount of vegetables were hidden under the thickly cut, cold Turkey that was from a manufactured roll and not carved from a bird. The roast potatoes were also cold, the stuffing was extremely tough and the Yorkshire pudding needed to be torn, not cut. The bottle of cider was cold though, so that was nice. The only time we learned our server’s name was when we were asked to do this review and that was only because his name was written on the card. Overall, not brilliant and won’t be going back, even though it’s close by.

Very reasonable prices. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good tasty food, including some vegan options and a good menu for children.

The burger was uncooked the curry was a kids portion along with the 8 chips with the burger disgusting sizes for what we paid would recommend going somewhere else not there food

Food was very good. Very impressed with the service we received. Gavin was extremely helpful when we said my daughter has a fish allergy. He came over to our table to explain how the different items of food were prepared. We would go back again, confident that the staff know about food allergies.

We came down on the Sunday to scatter the ashes of my partners late father… it was a very wet and windy day, thankfully they found us a table and served us amazing tea and coffee plus the free WiFi kept the kids busy… great establishment friendly staff

Great place, great service and absolutely charming atmosphere.

Came in late on a Sunday afternoon and totally blown away with the amazing Sunday roast. Vegetarian options were great. Service was quick and very friendly, I would highly recommend.

I had the Chicken & Mushroom Pie, the pastry was mostly undercooked, and the whole pie was soft and stodgy. Asked for additional gravy when meal arrived, 10minutes came back to ask if I still wanted it, and then a further few mins before it came out. I left most of the Pie and when plates collected the server said nothing. My chips were mostly cold, and the gravy was bland. My partner had mozzarella dough balls and chicken sides. Both were very disappointing, there was no cheese it had come off and burnt. Music was quite loud for a quiet place. Only positive was the food came out quickly. Overall a very poor meal unfortunately, and not value for money, and it has put us off coming back.

Very slow service and it was dirty and the whole place looks tatty the tables were sticky

Wasn't going to go to the pub, however I got stuck in the rain and thought I'd wait inside till it calmed down. Had a couple of nice pints of lager, it's clear that they look after their lines as the beer was lovely. Would've stopped for food, but my wife had dinner waiting for me.
