The Raj Scunthorpe Indian Restaurant & Takeaway in North Lincolnshire

Recommended by my brother,set meal for two was very tasty and good portion size. Korai and madras curries were spicy with lots of chicken and lamb in thick sauces. Probably the best Indian meal ever 👍👍

Easy to order over the phone, didn’t rush and super polite. Food was ready in 15/20 minutes. It was piping hot even after the car journey back to the hotel. Looked clean and tidy, nice small restaurant. Portions were a decent size, could have had a couple more chunks of meat in the sauce. Naan wasn’t as big as in my local, you need 1 each! Will return next time I stay here. Shame I can’t give 4.5 stars.

Food was cold, not fresh and missing multiple items. Was also around 40 minutes late even though we pre ordered over an hour before restaurant opened. Overall very poor and disappointing

Can't recommend this place enough. Whether takeaway or eating in the restaurant, the food is always incredible. Great quality, delicious taste and superb customer service. Food is always delivered hot, and with a friendly smile. We love it.

Hi, as a regular client i used to order jalfrezi couple times and i have to say it was great quality. Unfourtunetly today's order basicly do not have any lamb inside and is a way too spicy. Comparing to the same dish before it is twice more spicy, basicly for me not eatable. That is way only 3 stars.

Delivery of the take away was late, the food was cold and very bland.. shame as I have both eaten in and had several take away meals in the past. Not certain I will waste my money again though!! Update. As I left my original review for the Mint Leaf I didn't realise that they have only changed the name. I thought the Raj was a new restaurant or I wouldn't have bothered ordering. My original comments about the bland food stay the same, it's just more expensive with watered down sauces. I won't be ordering again even if it changes it's name again.

Food is cooked to perfection every time have ordered on multiple occasions and have never been disappointed again food is top tier 10/10 staff are lovely welcoming kind respectful it’s lovely warm and inviting, 100% recommend!

The meal was 30 mins early which was a bit awkward as we were still in the pub so the driver had to ring us. Food was excellent, I had a chicken jalfrezi and the flavours were perfect. Will definitely be ordering from them again. Thanks

never an issue always good service and good food

Food quality was absolutely shocking, meat was cold with warm sauce. Food containers had leaked into each other. Popadoms was smashed up and nan bread soggy. Wouldn’t order or recommend this take out restaurant again.

Had a takeaway and eaten in the restaurant many times before, but won’t be doing again. Order came 30 mins early, but no poppadoms. Phoned the restaurant to be told won’t be able to deliver any as too busy (so why deliver early) and to let them know next time we order and will knock the price off (not sure how they would remember) Curries were ok, not hot though. Will go elsewhere in the future. Bad service.

Food was great but what stands out more was that the delivery driver left the food in his vehicle out of the cold and rain whilst he located my property because it's a bit of a maze around here and he said he didn't want the food to get cold. Little things like that hold so much meaning and it really made my day to be honest so thank you again.

Small but pleasant Indian restaurant, quite unusually located in a housing estate parade of shops. Been a few times and wouldn't hesitate to go again.

My order wasn’t complete, I was missing the curry element of the byriani, was not able to eat dry rice with a dry paratha.

My recent experience with The Raj Restaurant in Scunthorpe left much to be desired. Despite having previously enjoyed their food, this encounter was marred by delays, poor customer service, and a lack of empathy. After placing an online order with an initial estimated time of 45 minutes, we were startled to receive a confirmation stating a wait time of 2 hours. Understandably frustrated, we decided to call the restaurant to inquire about the delay. We were informed that there had been issues with their delivery driver, a circumstance we empathised with given the challenges of coordinating deliveries. However, the resolution offered fell short of expectations. The restaurant promised to include additional items in our order as a gesture of apology. Unfortunately, upon receiving the revised order, we found that only one additional poppadom had been added. This token gesture did little to assuage our disappointment. Upon contacting the restaurant again, the level of customer service we encountered was disheartening. The staff appeared indifferent and lacked the friendly demeanour one would expect, especially in a service-oriented industry. Moreover, we were disappointed that the restaurant did not offer to waive the delivery charge. While we have previously enjoyed the food offered by The Raj Restaurant, this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. Despite the quality of their food, the lack of timely delivery and poor customer service outweigh any culinary merits. Regrettably, we cannot in good conscience recommend The Raj to others based on this experience. It is my hope that the restaurant takes steps to address these issues to prevent similar disappointments for future patrons. We will not be ordering food from here again.

Group of 7 of us went for a meal and a few beers, food was lovely, beers were cold and crisp. Staff were great and the place looks very nice. Had a great atmosphere.. we all loved the night and will be coming back soon

This was the first time we have ordered from the raj and the food was okay nothing fantastic but what really gets me is a new customer and you don’t get everything that you have ordered and paid for it may only be a £2.95 pickle tray but this was a treat for my wife’s birthday and we thought we would try somewhere different soo I think we may need to just stick to our usual place! Really not a good first impression 🤬

This is our go to Indian.. Food tasted great as always.. However decided to try a prawn dish instead of chicken for a change but disappointed to find only had 2 prawns in the dish! Seemed an absolute rip off for almost £11..

Just had a meal here tonight. It's Christmas Eve and they made every effort to get us in. Service was with a warm smile and very attentive. Ensured throughout that we had a drink and everything we needed. The food was gorgeous. Could not fault anything. We will definitely return.

Small restaurant but food was good. Had the special, you get choice for your starter and main course from a good selection. The meal was excellent and large enough, Brilliant value for money. Not available in Dec or bank holidays or on a Sunday all of which makes sense. Once December is out of the way we will return

Just had a nice meal, staff overall couldn’t have been more helpful. However the chap who ‘appeared’ to be in charge, was the most miserable person I’ve come across in a long time. His indifference to someone as a first timer, was so blatantly obvious to our party and spoiled the whole atmosphere. Well done to that individual.

Ordered a delivery because I was babysitting my 6 month old Grandchild, the I live in a 2nd floor flat, driver refused to bring it to my front door instead making me run down to the main entrance because apparently they are “not allowed” to deliver to my front door. For this reason alone I will not order from them again.

Never delivered order and then tried to charge me extra for them to deliver. Will never be ordering from here again as they refused to give me a refund

Ordered a take away from here as our usual had a massive wait this evening. I can honestly say this is the best vindaloo I have ever eaten. The food quality is as good as I have had in Mumbai (India). Staggering.

Naan and samosa didn't turn up, got told to pick it up myself or I could have a discount next time as they had no time to deliver the missing items (restaurant is just around the corner). Food was ok but there was a chunk of plastic in the rice!

Had a couple of hours spare and the wife and I we're looking for somewhere to eat. So we found this place via Google. We turned up with no prior booking, and was welcomed in. Once shown to our table, we ordered 2 drinks which was moderate in pricing. For food we ordered the set meal for 2. The starter's were lovely! We had the Chicken Tikka and Lamb Samosa which the wife and I both shared. For the mains I went for the Chicken Biryani, again it was beautiful! The chicken was cooked to perfection, not dry or soggy. Accompanied by a Cheese Naan which again, was perfect. The staff we're not only welcoming, but we're warm and pleasant throughout. Very knowledgeable on the menu as well. And finally price wise, was very fair. And any surplus food was packed up for us to take home. Would definitely recommend this place!
