The River Wyre in Fylde

Really cold food delivered to all 4 members of our party after a long wait. Cold food was also sent back from another table next to us. There were clearly problems in the kitchen.

Ours was an early-evening Sunday booking. The dining room was cosy with a log fire, which was very welcome. There was a good atmosphere and plenty of the tables were occupied. Pie of the Day (chicken and mushroom) comprised a tasty filling with a flaky pastry crust; likewise the veggie wellington. The potatoes, parsnips and carrots were plentiful and well-cooked. Additional greens and delicious gravy completed the meal. Our starters were tasty and nicely presented and service was good. We are local and it is our go-to place to eat.

Slightly disappointed with the drinks rounds as we had to wait too long for a glass of Rioja, ( did they have to go to Spain for it 😏😱😏) The ham and cheese was tasty and filling 😋🤤😋 The fish and chips gluten free was so inviting that we might try it in our next visit! Keep the good work 💯

Jess was our server and she was excellent, made us feel really welcome and not rushed at all. She was lovely and friendly. The food was excellent, highly recommend, great pub, atmosphere and a great team working there, all staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Misleading info about free Proseco. Told afterwards you could not have both deals despite being contracted by yourselves. Food was not hot enough and vegetables not sufficiently cooked. However, it was a birthday do so er made the best of it. However, they eventually honoured the Proseco deal.

Excellent service and quality of food as always. One of us had a delicious fish and chips and two had pie of the day which was steak and venison. The pie was exceptional as was the mash and vegetables. Highly recommended. Paul and Kaz were very attentive and friendly. Lovely relaxing meal in front of a very comforting log fire, perfect in all aspects.

Friendly staff, attentive without being too in your face. Checked allergies fully. Great food and nice choice of music.

Had a great evening here on Friday 10th Jan our server Jess was great v attentive and really looked after us nothing was too much trouble. Jodie and Alana were also lovely too speak too and made it a lovely atmosphere. We really enjoyed the food we had scallop and prawn starters then I had the beef and the O/H had the fish was all very yummy and perfectly cooked. Will be back again soon.

Our server,Kaz absolutely made the evening. We were a party of 3 to celebrate our sons birthday. He's in his 30's but has a low mental age. Kaz immediately understood without us having to explain . It always makes his night when someone engages with him and speaks to him directly as Kaz did ,she also used a bit of simple sign language that he does which was lovely. Even though the restaurant was clearly busy she made time for us,explained things well. Thank you Kaz!

We moved to the Wyre area, last year, and having tried a few pubs the River Wyre has become our favourite place. The food is always excellent clearly freshly cooked and well presented. On our last visit on the 7th Jan it was lovely to not just be greeted but recognised by Kaz, and welcomed back. Kaz is so attentive and really goes the extra mile to ensure you get the most from your visit. This time we celebrated a birthday and once again the food was excellent we were not disappointed, I look forward to returning very soon.

Wonderful warm welcome from Jess and Alana on a freezing cold day. Brought us in from the cold even though we were early and sat us next to the radiator. Entrance well gritted

Beautiful food the specisl shout out to Jess & Jodie who made our experience perfect. It was my daughter’s 7th birthday, and without even asking they celebrated her birthday with candles on her dessert, singing to her. Always checking we had everything we needed. Great staff. The restaurant wasn't very warm when we arrived at 12 noon and didn't seem to warm up as time went on. Food took quite a while to arrive especially the one dessert..... One of our party had the Seabass, the fish was good but the prawns in the sauce were tough and the potatoes weren't crisp as it said they would be in the menu..... My burger was good as well as the accompanying fries and onion rings. The staff are always friendly and efficient, Jess today couldn't have been more helpful.

Shame the food was cold when it was first brought out - otherwise it was tasty. Spoilt the occasion having to complain. We were warned when the skwers were brought out that the metal would be hot but it was stone cold - as were the chips Went again this year. Unfortunately the food is still cold when brought out - same meal, same result. There my review rating reduced

Great food , lovely staff cozy place

Came here for Sunday Lunch, booked well in advance. When we arrived, they sat us on a table straight away but it was by the doors. With it being December each time someone came in or went out we were frozen. Not told about wait time for food, meal took 45 minutes to arrive. When paying the bill I wasn’t asked how the meal was and was left with a bill of £170! Won’t be returning.

Some starters came out cold with cheap white slices of bread rather than the artisan bloomer advertised on the menu. The rest of the food was ok but a lot of items were already sold out by 6pm which was disappointing. Wouldn’t rush back, quite expensive for what you get, better places available.

Just had a lovely Boxing Day meal , food was delicious , service was very good , kept us updated if there was a delay , overall very good .

Booked for Boxing Day. We booked for 6.15pm as we have a 9 year old. It was honestly very poor. We weren’t asked if we wanted any drinks on arrival - we ordered the drinks at the same time as we ordered the starter “nearly 20 minutes after arrival”. We’d been there 30 minutes before we got a drink, 45 minutes before we got a starter. We then waited 25 minutes between the starters being finished and the main arriving. Again we were only served our drinks order when the main arrived. The 10oz steaks were tiny and Sirloins (not the ribeyes advertised). Having finished the mains it was a young lady who I think picked up on us looking over at the bar who finally asked if we’d like pudding despite it being part of the set menu. Again at this point I ordered another drink. Another mammoth wait for the dessert of around 20 minutes (after we’d already been forgotten about after clearing the mains). As for my drink I had to chase that again after the dessert was served. We ordered 3 x Trio of chocolate puddings, however without any mention from the staff there were only 2 puddings out of the trio on each plate with no profiteroles! In our opinion it was poorly organised and orders were just being forgotten. The fact that every time we chased the drinks they arrived almost instantly suggests they had just been left on the bar. In total we were there 3 hours for 3 courses and 3 rounds of drinks (the 3rd round being just one pint). Ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable family meal and my son was falling asleep at the table. I could maybe be a little more reasonable in my assessment had it been mad busy, but it clearly wasn’t. Won’t be going anywhere near the place again!

Used to be great but seems to have gone downhill recently... Visited a couple of months back and the food was pretty grim - basically thrown together. Booked a table on Christmas eve and the whole experience was disastrous. Table booked for 7pm, long wait to be seated on arrival resulting in a long queue, then informed an hour wait for food (excuse was "the system does it"), then informed most of the mains on the menu were unavailable (excuse was "suppliers didn't deliver"), then realised we'd been given the wrong (Sunday) menu anyway so had to choose again. None of the three fires were alight - lord knows why. Never again. It's a real shame because the building and decor has huge potential.

What a pre-Christmas disappointment. I am fuming. Despite booking weeks ago, the dog-friendly part of the restaurant was apparently overbooked so we had to sit in the bar area, elsewhere. The manager was reluctant to accept that it was their fault, preferring to suggest that I had made a mistake with my booking had omitted information about bringing a dog, which I had not. She implied that I had made up the dog inclusion, which I had not, as confirmed by the booking confirmation email. She denied calling me a liar, but . . . . . . . . make up your own mind. To make matters worse, we waited one hour before a starter arrived, and nearly a second hour before the main course. The ribeye steak on the menu had been replaced by a sirloin steak (still at the same price, of course) , which proved to be inedible. The steak knife was simply not up to the job. Staff were distant, although the manager told us we had had a waitress at our table "incessantly" - plainly not true. Rarely have I had such an unpleasant experience at a restaurant, and it has ruined what was planned to be a special occasion - it is not often I wear clean socks. So, to summarise, a long wait, inedible food, an inefficient online booking system, staff who like to blame the customers in an accusatory way - I shall not be back.

Came for our annual Christmas family meal for the first time here. We had our own little area which was really cozy and meant we could socialise with our family throughout without disturbing the other guests! The food was amazing and the staff servicing us Jemma, Alana & Caitlin were fabulous. We all said we’d be back here next year for our family Christmas meal 🎅🏻🎄

Absolutely amazing, really good surface Lizzy and Anne was polite, friendly, and accommodating. It was a really lovely atmosphere and the food well that was awesome. The burger was delicious. It had such amazing flavours. Will definitely be coming again, hopefully real soon we haven’t been for awhile certainly since it was done up and we had a great service, great food and a great atmosphere. Thank you so much!
