Went for a Sunday roast and I was disappointed 😞 I've been to the pub several times and it's a great village pub, but today it was cold on arrival and there was Guinness. Maybe the fire should have been going earlier. We kept our coats on until our food arrived. The food was good, however very small portion of veg. Cabbage was cold, and you could get all of it on the fork. Cauliflower was the frozen stuff, so it was rubbery and under cooked. One small piece of broccoli. Spuds were average at best. Meat was lovely. I had the pork. I didn't order the hair that was found 😕 The process of dealing with my complaint about finding hair in my dinner was poor. It questions the overall hygiene and care taken. I will not be returning.

We had an excellent meal at the Royal Oak in Naseby, after we pulled in when Google strangely took us through the village. Who was really quite good and the atmosphere was excellent, but we did have a bit of trouble getting our drinks and other bits and pieces delivered. We'd order, and things just wouldn't arrive until we asked again, or a slightly wrong thing would be delivered to our table. Overall, though, an excellent dining experience in this historic town.

The most wonderful, welcoming pub with an absolutely delicious and elevated menu! We have lived in the village for the last 15 years, we had only been to this pub twice - the food menu was never very good and decor/ atmosphere wasn’t great either. Glad to say that since the new management, that has completely changed! We have been twice in the last two weeks and plan to visit regularly. The decor has been completely uplifted and the Royal Oak is now a beautifully designed country pub with a tasteful and modern twist. The menu is creative and unique, not your typical ‘pub grub’ but much more fine dining at a still affordable and appropriate price for the quality of not only the food but the amazing service. The vegan options are very tasty and the chef was very accommodating, even offering an option for Sunday Roast. The lasagne was by far the best I’ve ever had. Couldn’t be happier to finally have an incredible local pub in Naseby! Thanks also to the waitress Lucy who was very friendly. Can’t wait to return soon.

Great pub, popular with the locals, had good food here before, but I've always said pubs can't do fish n chips, was hoping to be proved wrong tonight, but alas, good chips n mushy peas, but fish with no flavour, no flavour in a average batter, staff great and friendly as always, but fishless fish.

There are many village pubs owned by large brewery's which frankly have landlords that don't want to be there and are just barely staying open. This is not one of them. This is a pub recently taken over by a small brewery called the Towcester Brewery Company. The person serving behind the bar that night was Scott and he was friendly and obviously popular amongst his guests. The place was fun and people were enjoying themselves. It's great when a village pub springs back into life as so many are failing and closing. I didn't try the food but was assured by locals it was good value and reasonable. Definitely one of the better boozers this side of Northampton. The reason I have given it four stars instead of five is due to the lack of staffing from 5-6 on a Friday. The place is getting popular so staff it up a bit more and you've got a winner!!

We really value having a down to earth friendly pub in the village; it's a go to place to socialise and you will always find people warm and friendly, whether you are a local or passing through! Scott and the team are doing a fantastic job getting the food offering going and it's wonderful to have somewhere to go to eat in the village when you can't be bothered to cook! Quiz nights on Thursday are competitively fought out with witty banter and lots of heckling of the quiz master! Keep up the great work guys!

We followed the 'historic sites' signs to Naseby, and also similar signs to the pub... and had expected something historic, perhaps quaint, and good for lunch after a long journey. The soiled nappy in the car park was the first clue that perhaps it would not live up to expectations, then the large screens on most, if not all walls... and when we asked for menus, they were crumpled and soiled A4 sheets of paper. I had a reasonable chicken and ham pie, but my vegetarian partner had probably the worst 'pasta and tomato' dish ever offered - cold and tasteless, she didn't finish it. The staff member who collected the plates understood completely (he was also vegetarian) and apologised. A good selection of beers - I would have liked to have sampled more that one, but was driving! Again, my partner was disappointed that there was no draught sparkling cider - she had a bottle of Bulmers instead of her usual preference of Thatchers/Stowfords/Ashton Press etc. I guess that this is a good local pub, but not one to break a long journey for.

Set in the beautiful village of Naseby. Good selection of beers and a good village pub atmosphere. Everyone seems to know everyone which is nice. The food is very average but I'm sure with time they may give it more finesse. Burgers need more than just a bun, a bit of mayo, cheese, lettuce and tomato can make all the difference between 'meh' and tasty.

Another good Chinese takeaway in Daventry. Always a friendly & pleasant greeting with easy parking. I usually collect, so can't comment on the delivery service. The food I sampled below (April-June)... [33a] Mixed Vegetable Chow Mein: Rammed full of Medium egg noodles, half mushrooms, green peppers, baby corns, carrot circles, occasional Beansprout, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts in a light soy glaze , served in a DEEP Container. [41] Special Curry with Fried Rice: Plenty of small pink Prawns, chicken chucks, half mushrooms, soft and succulent sliced Chinese Roast Pork, small ham cubes, onion petals and peas in a thick rich, salty and spicy HOT ginger curry sauce (No beef?). [69a] Beef with Mushroom & Black Bean Sauce: Lovely sliced beef and full to the brim with BIG mushrooms in a Rich, almost bitter salty black bean sauce. Not that spicy, but very aromatic and tasty. [89] King Prawn with Cashew Nuts: Very Plain and ordinary dish. Simply, Stir-fried King prawns, cashew nuts, bamboo shoots & water chestnuts with NO sauce (a bit Disappointing). [124] Chinese Roast Pork Kung Po: Big slices of Chinese roast pork, onions, carrots, baby corns, green peppers, cashew nuts, bamboo shoots & water chestnuts in a thin, sweet and spicy Hot red chilli sauce 🌶 NICE. [128] Chicken with Spring onion & Ginger: Loads of succulent chicken chunks with BIG spring onions & carrots. Awesome ginger hit, without BIG ginger pieces. Simply delicious 😋 [Portion] Egg Fried Rice: A basic light brown rice with a few white clumpy bits, pleasant soy glaze and limited egg content. The meals were always freshly prepared, cooked while waiting (usually within 10 minutes). Orders were always correct, piping hot and reasonably priced. ☆☆☆☆ Gromit Stanley Rating: 70-75% GOOD

Very friendly man frying and serving the food. The shop smelled of stale oil. Flies in one of the light fittings. It's really scruffy and in need of refurbishment. The food just tasted unpleasant. It will be an idea for the owners of this fish and chip shop to visit The Trawler in Daventry to see how a business of this sort could be.

Service is good - food is ok but a bit on the pricey side for what it is. The decor of the place is very nice and you can see the owners have put a lot of money into the place although every time I’ve visited it’s probably been at 20% capacity… so not sure, maybe needs to be marketed more. Recommend the chicken lollipops!
