Six of us had a lovely meal in the Ship on New Year's Day. The food was delicious and piping hot. I can recommend the steak chiabatta with blue cheese and the bbq ribs. They also served my favourite cider. Service was fast and efficient. We will definitely be back.

I recently visited the Ship Inn for a Sunday roast with family. The vegetarian option was the best I’ve ever had had! The vegetables were well seasoned and fresh, the gravy was rich, and the portion sizes were generous. The atmosphere of the pub was warm and inviting, with plenty of screens to watch the football. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great roast in a cozy location!

Went here for the first time for the first time a couple of weeks ago for a pub tea with the kids. We have been back 3 times since! We struggle to find good places to eat as my husband is celiac and most places, although claim to, don’t really have a decent gluten free menu. The food is fantastic, the staff are great, particularly the lady in the kitchen whose name unfortunately I can’t remember! She came out and talked us through the gluten free options and bent over backwards for us. The landlord is absolutely lovely and can’t do enough for you, also the great offers make it very reasonable, particularly 2 mains for £25 and the kids menu, a main and pudding for £10! Our new favourite place, I cannot rate it highly enough!

My daughter and I went for lunch today. I have to say both the food and service were excellent, especially our server Liv. Nothing was too much trouble, and what a lovely, friendly person she was. It really makes all the difference when delicious food is served by lovely happy people. Thank you so much. We have been to the Ship Inn before today, and we will most definitely be returning many times. Highly recommend the roast sharer platter on a Sunday, and today, we had the ribs (2 for 1) on the lunch menu. Had to take half home!! 🥰

This well maintained and decorative pub was welcoming , the beer garden was lovely and had TVs for sports enthusiasts! The Sunday roast sandwich was excellent and so tasty ! We are staying again in November and can’t wait to go back for food !

We were walking from Leasowe to Hoylake and it started raining heavily. So I thought it doesn't rain in pubs so thought we'd call in for a pint. The pub is quite large inside with plenty of room. They have a beer garden at the back and have recently put new benches outside the front of the pub. BEWARE If you have any allergies, please consider before ordering. My partner ordered a gluten free meal. Arrived and started to eat when the waitress ran to the table and said the chef had mixed up with someone else's meal, containing gluten. Took meal away and said would remake. Sorry complained and left as could not take a chance. This is very serious and allergies should be taken VERY seriously.

Came new years eve for tea with my family. Ordered what I thought was a gluten free main with veg, I was made to order a starter which I did not want as they where only serving this as part of a two course menu. When the main came it arrived with two large slabs of bread, not gluten free when asked about the veg was told it never came with them as it would be to large so was changed extra £4 just for sprouts. When the 2 course meal itself cost £19.50 So disappointed absolutely shocking.

I had the veggie roast dinner. The potatoes and carrots were lovely but the nut roast wasn't very nice- it was very stodgy, and the brocolli was rock hard. The others with me who had different roasts also said their dinner was alright but not great. The pudding was the same- fruit crumble with a nice crisp crumble topping, but the fruit in it was more like jam and much too sweet. My dad asked for warm custard with his crumble and I asked for cold. When they came out, they were both the same temperature - tepid. Expected better considering the prices.

We visited on a Sunday for roast dinner with the family. We waited an hour for the starter to come out, and by the time we got our mains we had been there 2 hours! We were not updated to why our food was so late, until we asked about this when paying. The waitress was rude and obnoxious, she clearly wasn’t interested and made excuse after excuse and passed the blame on to junior members of staff. We were ignored even though the pub appeared to be quiet. We didn’t get what we ordered, there were problems with the food from start to finish and the food was disgusting and definitely not worth the money. My son and partner were up all night with stomach cramps. Avoid like the plague!

We visited this pub after a few busy weeks. When we previously ate here we were prepared to pay higher prices as the food was amazing but this time we were not in for a similar treat. The food was edible but not pleasant and certainly not worth the price paid, although a regular told me that the Sunday Lunch is still lovely. We ordered ribs and fish and chips. Both were poor at best. We spoke to the lovely waitress who said that she would let the kitchen know. The pub itself though continues to be friendly and a core part of the community. We decided to go The Ship for food after we had popped over in the week before for a quick drink, even though we live in Liverpool and had a few other pubs and restaurants we have wanted to go. So glad we did cause it was excellent from the start. Although the pub was very busy, the service was still quick and it was refreshing to be shown a lovely seat by the owner which we both thought that was a nice touch. The Menu itself was excellent, a good selection of items, and it was refreshing again to have a separate wine list. I had fish and chips and my partner had burger and we shared the homemade soup.my fish was probably one of the best I had for some time, my partner enjoyed her burger as well, we both loved the homemade Tomato and basil soup. Service again was very good and again the manager noticed our glasses where empty so she offered if we wanted more as the bar was busy, we would have gone so it would have been rude not to except 😂 The pub is very dog friendly as well which was nice to see, toilets were cleaned to a high standard and good. Our waitress for the day was excellent we enjoyed our day very much I even popped my head in the kitchen to say thanks. The pub itself was very nicely decorated with plenty of TVs showing sport, I can imagine for a derby game it be exciting to watch. Was the 2-hour journey there and back worth it, most definitely that much we have promised ourselves we will go again for Sunday lunch.

Well....where do I start....this was always my family local and was always the quick pint on the way home from work pub. Since then they have introduced food, serving to a very high standard according to all the reviews. I was looking forward to making time to go for the Highly acclaimed Sunday lunch. However, I found the portion size very small, I had the Chicken and I thought it was very nice but not enough carbs for a diabetic. There was plenty of veg served with it but was 'very' el dente. The wife had Brisket and found it very fatty and stringy. My son (who is a chef) went for the Lamb that was all fat. I am sorry to post this slightly negative review but can only speak as I found. Maybe it was just an off day. I'm just a little disappointed as I had looked forward to it for such a long time.

Very poor. Group of 18 for a festive lunch left very disappointed. Despite pre ordering - after 45 mins we had to follow up our starters. Then big wait for mains and ended up getting desserts boxed after 2.5 hours as people had started to leave to get back to work. No festive decorations despite it being a christmas lunch. While the starters were nice the turkey dinner was awful, most left it. No flavour at all, folded wafer thin turkey and frozen roasties and carrots, nothing home cooked at all. Did complain but apparently they think it's acceptable as like to allow guests time to settle? 45 mins, really? And the foods not their fault it's what they are told to do by the brand. I have said that's not good enough as we all left disappointed and not heard back since. Stressful experience won't be going back

I have often passed The Ferry whilst walking along the promenade from New Brighton to Seacombe, and always liked the look of it! I was not disappointed when I recently visited for lunch with my wife and a Chinese friend. We were given a window table on the first floor, and the view across the Mersey on what was a very cold but sunny winter's day, was amazing. Food was very reasonably priced and all three of us enjoyed our meal. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly and attentive. Will definitely return.

Disgusting...starter served after the main course, salad and sauce missing, over cooked and cold! Mains mac & cheese had better pot noodle, microwaved cheap supermarket food, Hunters chicken cold, rotted salad on both meals, no staff checked in with us throughout! If anyone says the food is cooked fresh to order then this is a lie. Worst meal I have ever had.

This is a cracking spoons always have a great selection of ales on which are well looked after , the location is good with the bus and railway station within a couple of minutes walk.
