Had brisket with mash and butter nut squash,for evening meal.We felt that plate needed a green vegetable rather than the squash..Also brisket needs cooking for along time and it should just fall apart..ours didn't.. whilst dish was tasty we both felt it wasn't exactly setting the world on fire...We also thought it was overpriced at £18-50 per head.The Camden light ale was nice but at £7.50 for a pint it was expensive....We then went to the bar I had another pint this time I was charged £7 and my wife had a half at £3.60.. Golden rule go to the bar first....All what they say are large plates are expensive cheapest is £16.50 Wild mushroom Gnocchi or a vegetable curry, burgers are all £17 each,most expensive was sirloin steak at £28..They do small plates running from £5.50 to £12..or various salads from £13.50 or pizza at £13.95 for a basic one to which you can add toppings..sides are all £5.50...You could go to the service station across the other side of the M4 and get a pasty or a Burger king..for a lot cheaper and go and get beer from M&S... Out of choice would I spend out for this ,no not really..They put these hotels away from everything for a reason..You are around 4.5 miles to Newbury, and the parking down there is a pain..

110 London RoadAfter a trip out to Kintbury decided to Google local Toby and quickly booked on line and luckily could get a table. Warm and welcoming staff. Clean restaurant and the Carvery meat all available with all accompanying vegetables hot. Quick service. Left a happy customer. Thanks again.

Broadway StReally great coffee shop with super friendly staff who were working on Boxing Day yet seemed to be enjoying it. Good variety of food and everywhere (including toilets) was clean and well maintained. Highly recommended.

41 Charnham StreetMet with family for a lunch on Sunday rather than a Sunday lunch. Absolutely fine, good selection of dishes and after a bit of a wait it all arrived, hot and tasty. No complaints and staff very friendly and helpful. We’ve been coming here for years as it is a convenient location sort of midway between London, Bristol and Andover and we will continue to be patrons. Only thing to watch is to be sure to register your vehicle at the console in reception if you park in their car park. We did that of course but the ghastly Britannia Parking people, who manage the process for the hotel, despite my son and I both registering our vehicles, sent me a £100 fine-he didn’t get one. The Bear staff cancelled it on my calling them but they did admit that the system was always going wrong and many customers had to call to get their fines cancelled. Why do hotels put up with such bad experiences for their customers? You have been warned!
