Excellent Young's pub on Putney High Street

Visiting the area over the holidays we chose the Spotted Horse to share Christmas dinner with our family party of 11. Collectively, we were completely blown away by the whole experience- extraordinary! The Christmas menu was absolutely scrumptious, the staff was most gracious, accommodating, and so hardworking. The ambiance so cozy and festive with a crackling fire place, and Christmas crackers at every setting-a positively lovely occasion we are so grateful to have shared. We walked 40 minutes there and back again to our rental home as public transit was closed for the holiday and we’d do it again in a heartbeat for such an experience. Thank you Spotted Horse ♥️

Great dinner! Huge portion. We had the Sunday roast sharer and it was enough for 3 large dinners. Ava looked after us. She was wonderful!

I came to this pub for drinks only but I loved it. The decor, atmosphere, service and views are great. It was early and not that busy but felt it was the place where yoy can have a chat and enjoy your time. The terrace is small but so cosy! I would highly recommended it!

I am a regular visitor and the quality of the food and service are excellent. We go every fortnight, so not there that often, but the staff always remember us and look after us well

Prematch meal here for 7 on a very busy Sunday before Christmas but everything was excellent. Good service, friendly staff, tasty roasts for those that had them, and for the three non-meat eaters some great alternatives. The only slight negative was the draught from where the loos were - assume someone had a door open on a cold day. We will come back here again - lovely pub.

The Spotted Horse on Putney High Street is simply one of the best pubs in London! From its cosy Christmas atmosphere to its perfectly cooked pub food, this place has it all. My friend Marygrace and I enjoyed their classic burger, which was juicy and flavourful, accompanied by perfectly crispy chips. The setting is warm and inviting, with painted panelling, a wood-burner, and super-comfy seating. The pub manager, Eddie, is incredibly friendly and makes every visit special. Whether you’re here for drinks (their handcrafted cocktails are amazing) or a hearty meal, you won’t be disappointed. Definitely one of my favourite spots, along with The Half Moon, Putney’s iconic rock 'n' roll pub. Highly recommend for a festive visit or a year-round go-to pub experience!

Had a Christmas party here and was brilliant, service from all staff and especially Ava, she was a great host, a lovely person to talk to and communicate with.

There were 7 of us, 3 of which were children. We had a great amount of space, service at the bar was really quick and table service also provided. All the food was really nice and the atmosphere was lovely

End of term French class Christmas lunch. About 16 of us. Made very easy to book, staff knew who had ordered what (always a plus when you've ordered weeks ahead!) and individual bills. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. Thank you all, have a busy Christmas and we'll see you in January. Marion

Hosted my birthday party here and the staff were so accommodating. Due to storm Darragh we couldn't have it in Juniper Terrace but they did everything and more to make it a memorable evening. Food was delicious and service was spot on. At the end of the night, it even came in under budget! Great value for money, would definitely recommend 👌

Amazing staff who accommodated us and our dog. He loved the chicken he was given and the bowl of water was very much appreciated.

No sense of order at the bar. Waited ages, kept serving totally in wrong order. Dreadful service, one to avoid.

Lovely pub in the heart of Putney high street. Good traditional design with comfortable furniture of various kinds for drinking, eating or just socialising. Can get busy with sports fans which ruins its lovely atmosphere. Some staff are really welcoming and amazing, others less so and more interested in laptops than serving guests. Food is good quality tasty and traditional. Prices good value for area.Toilets need attention.

Went there for the first time yesterday. Lovely atmosphere. Plenty of space and comfortable seating. Had the roast…..wow….apart from the giant Yorkshire pudding which was very crispy and tasty, the pork I had was JUST like it had been cooked at home. Tender, tasty with fresh (not frozen) roast potatoes, veg and very crackly crackling. I enjoyed every mouthful. In fact it’s one of the best roasts I’ve had in a pub or restaurant. My wife had the vegetarian cauliflower & mushroom Wellington which again was excellent. I didn’t have sweet, as I was too full, but my wife had apple pie which again tasted homemade (I had a small spoonful) with lovely vanilla custard. To add to that, the staff were more than attentive - especially Ethan who couldn’t do more to attend to every need with a smile and good humour. He was looking forwards to his roast later!! Around £30 for main course, sweet and drink. There’s also an open terrace upstairs. Dog friendly. Excellent value!!

4 of us visited from the West Midlands to watch the Villa game at Fulham, we visited last season and loved it, this time was even better, food was superb, my fish and chips one of the best I have ever had. Our waitress was a credit to you, I just wish I had taken her name. There was a lovely atmosphere and a great mix of people, we loved it.

We went for a Sunday roast and the food was just excellent! Best Yorkshire puddings in south west! The ambience is super cozy and perfect for an autumn or winter day!

The staff were very attentive and friendly. The Bavette steak was fantastic. Also had the chill squid that was also very good.

I really enjoyed this pub, and I will definitely come back! Excellent service and an incredibly pleasant atmosphere. The food and drinks are absolutely delightful! We've been here twice now. Brought our pup with us. Super dog friendly. Really nice, comfortable atmosphere and very friendly staff. We had the Sunday roast both times. The £48 giant yorkshire roast for 2 is amazing. Definitely recommend and would come again!

Booked a table for 15 people on Saturday 31st August 2024, food was excellent, it was for a surprise 70th birthday. Great service we will definitely be going back whenever we are in Putney again. Thank you Ava you were amazing.

I had my 21st birthday party on the terrace here and it was incredible. Such a friendly and accommodating team, great food and drinks and perfect location. Ava was super helpful over email when we were planning, and Ethan was super friendly and helpful on the night. Everyone who came was commenting on what a great location it was. Would highly recommend visiting the Spotted Horse if ever in Putney.

We popped for a roast on a Sunday and were really impressed. Hands down say this is the best roast in Putney. Mulu our waitress was really lovely too.

Staff were friendly but the cost of a pint (£7.25 for Peroni) has unfortunately priced me out of this becoming a regular local for me. There are plenty of pubs in the area that are easier on the wallet and still offer a good pub atmosphere. Unfortunately I didn't find the chairs as comfortable as they look (they need an "arm"). Regrettably I will not be back. As I said the staff were nice but I just felt ripped off with what was an average pint.

Brilliant food & service as usual. Fish & chips are better than the fish shops. We only come twice a year to meet my uncle, as we don't live locally anymore. Wouldn't go anywhere else!

Party of 5 family all had meals and drinks. Four had fish and chips which was lovely albeit mushy peas was a bit weird! I had pork and fennel sausages with mashed Jersey potatoes which was lovely and whilst didn’t look much in terms of amount it certainly filled me up enough but left room for choc brownies which 2 of us had although big with ice cream, one was softer and moister than the other but still nice. Would go back if around that area. Thanks guys for nice service

Good food but woefully understaffed. Food took an ok amount of time but everything else was painfully slow.

We celebrated my Son's 30th Birthday on the roof terrace at the weekend. Lovely venue. Delicious food.The staff went above and beyond and couldn’t have done enough for us. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking to hire for a private function. A very BIG thank you to all at the Spotted Horse. We had a lovely evening.

It is a fantastic pub. Delicious food (I had salad and partner the traditional pie), staff are super helpful and friendly. The manager - Eddie came over to ask if everything was alright and he got a water bowl for our dog - very dog friendly 😁 Will definitely come again and highly recommend this pub

Really delicious & great quality Sunday Lunch! We tried all of the meat options and all of them were cooked brilliantly. They didn’t skimp on the vegetables either! I had the roast chicken which came with bread sauce, roasted carrot, roast potatoes, cabbage, beetroot (which went so well with the dinner!) and a yummy gravy.

I booked the terrace area privately for my birthday and it was absolutely amazing! What a great space and to have it all to ourselves with a private bar and bathroom. The service was great, they were so helpful. I had such a great birthday. Thank you to the team and Ava for helping sort everything and answer my questions when booking.

We had the mix Sunday roast for 2, It was 48 pounds but worth it!! Lots of delicious food !! 🙂 Our server was Anton and he was very polite and friendly!! He did a really good job!!

Enjoyed having lunch here on the first sunny day. I booked a table, but the majority of people hadn't booked. We were up on the terrace which has about 8-10 tables so is pretty small, but is well set out The food here is a little pricey for pub food but it was overall good quality. The service was attentive and friendly with both table and walk up service.

Great music on a Thursday. Lots of 90s/00s and 10s throw backs. Delicious food. Wine list could be a bit nicer as very acidic selection. Loads of different types of seating options (bar seat, sofas, corner chairs, tables). Nice vibes overall

Great pub! My parter and I live in Southfields but we've made the Spotted Horse something of a 'local' and perfect half way venue to meet friends based just over the river in Putney Bridge. Lively atmosphere (especially during 6 Nations Rugby!) really good food, and the staff are super friendly and efficient.

Fish and chips was awful: tiny fillet of burnt fish, chewy chips, and microwaved mushy peas. Staff asked me what I wanted to do about it then reluctantly swapped it for a burger which was much better. Overall good atmosphere and drinks, but better off going to a chippy for fish and chips.

I am a refugee from the Duke's Head where the service experience has descended into chaos over the past months. Yesterday at your establishment it was equally chaotic, with slow and haphazard service at the bar, over an hour's wait for the food and no sense or evidence of planned management. Notably, there were too few people behind the bar and serving. Yes it was a Saturday when FFC was playing at home. This was not a surprise as the team does that at least ten times each season. That's the negative. On the positive side the stretched staff were clearly doing their very best without effective leadership, were friendly and helpful, and understood that they were failing through no fault of their own. They stuck at it where others would have said 'Up with this I shall not put' and left there and then. The food was mostly OK. It's a pub and you go there for 'food as fuel' rather than a fine dining experience. It wouldn't take much to make it significantly better.

Great pub to visit before or after football! Very busy, but good service (thanks Anton!). Nice food. Reasonable selection of veggie/vegan options and our kids enjoyed their macaroni cheese and chunky chips!

very good Sunday lunch at a good price. My mum had child's roast which was more then enough. I had the adult portion and was struggling to finish it. Also very spacious inside and not noisy which makes a change. Good service.

Revisited The SH which was a local haunt in the 70/80s. Very pleasantly surprised at the changed and modern and comfortable interior. Very well looked after with table service and a great sausage and mash lunch and well kept ales. Good value too.

We went for a late lunch. Phoned ahead to make sure we wouldn't be disappointed. We were greeted by Anton, who let us settle, brought us menus, took our Drinks order and allowed us time to select our Food from a really diverse menu. We placed our order and after a short while our Food arrived at the table. Anton was once again our server and he was very efficient and friendly with the service. The food was "GREAT ". Really tasty, a good portion size and beautifully presented.. We finished our splendid meal but due to the confines of time we couldn't stay for a sweet. We paid the bill, which was reasonable for the fare that we enjoyed. Everything about our visit was positive and good. Next time in Putney we will definitely pop in and allow ourselves more time to eat and drink at this lovely haunt.
