Lovely country pub, food excellent, friendly and a warm log fire to enjoy in winter.

This friendly pub who welcomes dogs and walkers all year round to come and drink in there cosy pub. On Christmas day greed got the better of them and the pub turned all the people that wanted to pop for a festive drink away. If they was not eating them they didn't want to serve them. I am still speechless. You can't treat customers this way. I will not be returning.

Enjoyed by me and eldest son went for a walk and lunch for his birthday. Sam enjoyed it too nice to have a dog friendly pub 👍

Ate there this evening, the service was horrendous. We had to wait an hour & me asking for them to clear our plates before they were cleared. Its never taken over 3 hours to eat a main & dessert before. There was 7 of us & meals & desserts did not come out together so we never ate together. The desserts came out 1 by 1 without the cultery, then there want enough. No service for drinks until it was too late. The quality of the food was under par, my son couldn't cut his gammon it was that tough. Very expensive for the type & quality really.

Must try harder! Having lived locally for 20 years the pub has a hit and miss reputation. Food is on the right side of good (a little bit overpriced for the quality, but reasonable offers/discounts are common), service is well below par but it's a warm comfortable place which has a good atmosphere. It SHOULD be a quintessential country pub. And it could be if the team were better trained in hospitality. In summary, OK (just ok), if you know what to expect. But there's bags of potential. Has been for 20 years.

What a lovely evening from start to finish. From a lovely warm welcome, warm log fire, great food and fantastic service from Rachel and all the team. So nice to see a local doing so well on a very cold Thursday night. We all loved our good, the beef pie was delicious. Busy night but staff couldn’t do enough to make sure everyone had a great time. Food was great and came out quick, but service was slow as is often the case when we come and especially considering we were the only ones in the pub over half an hour mins waiting for bill

We came for dinner tonight as a post Christmas can’t be bothered to cook night after our first day back at work. What a lovely warm welcome we received! Ryan the new manager seems to have really settled in and got the place looking fab. The service was perfect and the food was super yum. Thanks for a lovely cosy night. Will be back again very soon!

Visited many times over the years. It's had ups and downs but in recent times it's very good, not the cheapest around but the food is usually very good. Had two mains at January promotional 50% off this evening which brought the price down to Wetherspoons territory! Lamb shank and fish n chips, the lamb was as good as I've tasted. Service very good as usual.

Waited 1hr for food i asked for medium to well done on my stake witch was pink (rare) and asked for beef dripping sauce and received peppercorn sauce.. well disappointing service 😒

Food and service was fantastic start to finish! We went on New Year’s Eve for lunch and the staff were lovely and attentive. The Talbot used to be hit and miss in the past but since their newest manager Ryan has taken over, he’s completely turned it around. Very satisfied and will be returning again and again!

Only really gave 3 stars because it doesn't really need a lot of work to get everything has it should be. Needs someone to just organise the place. But think I'll give it a miss for a good while. Shame

Excellent food, service and atmosphere!

Had a superb Christmas day dinner. We were seated quickly and our drinks order was taken. Our preselected 3 course menu was double checked before our starters were served. All delicious 😋 Then our mains were brought out. My husband and son had the beef wellington and it was absolutely cooked to perfection. We were a family of 5 and we all polished off our meals. Again superb. The desserts were amazing The staff were attentive and helpful. No complaints at all with anything. So much so we will definitely be returning for christmas day next year.

Great service from Steph, food was fantastic. It was quiet when we got there and they stoked the fire a bit too much which left the room a bit Smokey but it was a lovely Xmas eve meal with my mum! Will definitely be back thank you!

I’ve been to the Talbot several times over the last year for the monthly Pub quizzes they hold. The atmosphere is always great at the Talbot, as is the service from friendly, professional staff. Me and my friends have eaten here as well and the food is always top-notch, with a great menu, and the prices are very reasonable. Overall, a great pub that I would highly recommend!

Lovely place to eat. Food was excellent. Staff were lovely and friendly. Premises were tastefully decorated and furnished. Cosy log fire was going well too.

Unfortunately 1 star the lowest option, otherwise I would have opted for less. We have visited tonight, in a group for a Christmas meal. We arrived at 19:00 and didn’t get given a menu until 19:45, so started off on a bad note to begin with. Two people out of our group booking ordered a starter which came at 20:05, which was fine. Once the starters had finished we waited an additional 1 hour 40 for our mains. Having been told when we ordered the wait was 45 minutes. We asked one for the waitress’s if they had any update on where the meals were which she stated she’d go and find out, little to our amazement she never returned to our table for the rest of the evening. Upon speaking to the manager, about our concerns and complaint, he said that she’d gone home. We then went to the bar to ask due to this waitress not coming back and they assured us that our meals were due to be sent out after the next tables. The food arrived eventually, at separate times, most of it cold and missing sides which were stated that came with the meal on the menu. A few of us had the turkey dinner, the roast potato’s were like bricks. We sent some of the food back to be warmed, which they did. One of our parties mains came out once we had all finished our mains. We planned to have the 2 course meal yet nobody had time or wanted to order their desserts as we would have well and truly been waiting until Christmas for them. We felt like our group was being ignored due to the lack of communication with some of the staff. We also asked for condiments on multiple occasions which never arrived. Left feeling disappointed, and most importantly hungry. I wouldn’t entertain wasting your money and/or time visiting this establishment until they sort out how to run the place and deal with the general public. Poor from the beginning until the end.

Really nice evening at Talbot, the atmosphere was perfect for a cosy evening and a festive atmosphere. Chef Gu Gu cooked the meals to perfection, really great flavour. Our server Daisy serviced with a smile and looked at us, catering to any needs we had. Highly recommended for a great meal :)

As a resident of the town we don't visit the Talbot often as the service is usually very slow, unorganised, chaotic and the food OK at best. We had seen that management had been installed so we though we give it another go, hoping there was finally somewhere decent in Biddulph to eat as like most of Stoke on Trent / North Staffordshire including Biddulph is a culinary black hole. Well, I can report the experience is worse than before. I booked a table in the dining room as one of my party has dog allergies, we ended up in the dog friendly area. I complained and we were moved to the booked area, not the table was not cleaned or set. Not to worry, the waitress came over and gave me 6 sets of cutlery so I could set the table myself (there were 4 of us). Before I could say anything she wondered off. Quite unusually for the Talbot our order was taken quickly and the adults mains arrived in around 30 minutes (this is extremely fast for the Talbot) but it would seem Chef had never seen not eaten a lasagne in their life. One half pure bechamel, the other ragu, odd.... The waitress (who was very polite) advised us the childrens food would be right out. 12 minutes after the adults meals appeared the childrens food appeared, it would seem Chef has also never had pizza either as toppings only covered 25% of the surface area. We complained to the waitress, concious she'd also taken complaints from other tables around us as I'd seen several dishes sent back to the kitchen. The deputy manager appeared, whilst polite couldn't have cared less and offered no discount for the omni shambles we'd just experienced. The cost of this one course/one drink farce? £68. Will I be back? No, which is a shame as other vintage inns are so much better than this one.

Came the other day, food was amazing! Our server was daisy and she was brilliant, made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. Handled my allergy really well and gave me plenty of options. She was always checking in on us, will definitely be coming back

The trio roast was incredible!! Tim was very attentive and ensured that we felt looked after. The portions were just right and we were sat right by an open fire which is it gave it a cosy atmosphere. I would definitely come here again!!

Came for Sunday dinner in the evening and everything was lovely. Daisy was fantastic and looked after us and Lewis the chef produced some amazing food, thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back!!

We were in the dog friendly area and the place was full, even at 6pm. Food always great and with the Vintage Inn app offers very good value for money. Large free car park opposite the pub, so no problem with access.

Cosy country pub. Real fires. Amazing food, steaks are cooked to perfection. Separate areas for dogs. Great service. Last visit our waitress was Heidi who caters to our every need and was extremely helpful and attentive.

Brilliant meal tonight at The Talbot for my nieces birthday. From the Steak to the Duck & Hoisin pizza to the fish and chips - everything was cooked beautifully. Great selection of beers and the service was brilliant. Thanks for having us!

I've been visiting the Talbot for many many years. I love the building and the various corners to sit and chat with family and friends. Family events often involve 3 course meals and a few drinks. All served by pleasant,friendly staff. I love the atmosphere and especially the warm open fires in winter. A great stopping place following a walk around the local Grange Park and visits to Grange Gardens. Dogs welcome to. We will be back. Merry Christmas 🎄 to all the staff

What a difference this pub has now the vibes are so much better since Ryan has taken over the beer tastes better and a lot of people now recommending this pub again new management and new chefs give it a go

So disappointed! Booked the Talbot at 1pm a table of 8. We were having lunch before my father's memorial service which was at 3pm. We waited over an hour and a half and our food still didn't arrive. A table of 6 had ordered and eaten their food and had left and we still hadn't got our food ,they were seated 5 mins before us. We had to leave without eating as we would of missed the service, my 83 year old mother was shocked with ot all. We still had to pay for the drinks after an appalling service. We are regulars too but definitely wouldn't recommend dining here.

Food was lovely and the staff were brilliant. They have definitely upped their standards and we will without a doubt be returning.

Been for a Sunday lunch this afternoon, and for someone who is not easily pleased with pub Sunday lunches, it was amazing. Food came out in good time and was lovely, by Chef Gugu. Atmosphere was brilliant and fantasic service by the out front staff. Will definitely be back again soon.

We booked in at 1.00pm left around 4.30pm. Took 1hr for starters to come out and a further 1hr 15mins for our main. I had to ask for our little boys meal to be a priority became was soo hungry. When oyr main eventually came it was tepid with burnt veg. Not a great experience at all. Will not be going back!

Beautiful atmosphere good food excellent staff but so cold in the pub would have had coffee and drinks but to cold to stay excellent service.

Came here a couple of days ago, it was brilliant and great atmosphere. We were serviced by daisy and she was lovely friendly and made us feel very welcomed. The food was great and we will definitely be coming back

Service is very slow. Fish and chips mediocre. Chips were salty and underdone and tepid but didn't complain as no one came to check and we waited about 45 mins for the food. One fish was good the other was hard at the end. Mini puddings and tea were nice and server was friendly. Also thought expensive but you can get lunch deals but not on Friday when we went. Ambience is nice but we won't return.

Came for a warm by the fire after a chilly morning at Biddulph Grange. Service was bang on and the food delicious. Haven't been in for a while due to a couple of bad experiences but there are some new faces that are obviously making a difference. We will be back soon.

Cosy lunch with my husband after walking the dogs. Atmosphere was great, as was the food. The place looks a lot tidier than our last visit and all of the staff were great. We look forward to trying some festive fayre soon.

Being a local for 20 years I've seen the good and bad off the Talbot in that time !!! But the new manager and his staff deserve a massive pat on there backs and can certainly recommend food and drinks and atmosphere 5 stars

Such a cosy atmosphere with the fires lit. Lovely pitstop mid-walk with hungry kids and dogs. We will definitely be stopping by again for lunch.

Steak burger was lovely, good quality food and Chrissy and Nick made us feel very welcome. Will be coming back again, highly recommended
