A Hidden Gem in Emsworth! I recently visited The Travellers Joy in Emsworth and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a charming, rustic décor that made me feel right at home. The beer selection was impressive, featuring a variety of local brews that were both refreshing and flavourful. I particularly enjoyed the friendly and attentive service from the staff, who made sure my visit was perfect from start to finish. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, The Travellers Joy is a must-visit for a relaxing and enjoyable pint. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely lunchtime meal, the quality ingredients and superbly cooked food (Fillet steak and Salmon mains, sticky toffee pudding) was a delight. Hannah was excellent on front of house, she gave us a warm welcome and was very attentive throughout. We'd eaten at The Travellers Joy several times under previous ownership and our experience under the new ownership was equally as impressive. We'll definetly be returning. Thank you for a lovely all round experience 😊

Great service, friendly and swift. Under new management who are evidently masters at what they do. Wish they had offered smaller portions for the teenagers in our group but the fact they could choose from main menu and not just a roast is great for us. Couple of things missing from the menu like tomato juice and banana ice cream but they’d only been open 3 days when we visited. The cheese cake was drool worthy, can’t wait to return and try every other dessert on the menu!

Popped into TJ on day 2 and 3 of a new landlady. First day made very welcome by the staff. Day 3 popped in for a a pint, new landlady comes out and gives everyone a little bowl of olives, thought how nice. However, me, older local chap stood at bar totally ignored. What an uncaring unobservervant person. Don't think she will last long. Have been using the pub for decades.

A real shame that service was extremely poor when the food was actually alright. Attitude of bar maid/waitress was appalling regardless of the wait on food which appeared to be near on 45 minutes to an hour, the waitress should not be so aggressive. So a group of four popped in for lunch today. The wait was ridiculous. One meal came out and was eaten then after that the 2nd meal was eaten. Waited another 20 mins and asked for the next two meals and was told plating up. One of our party went into to get a couple more drinks and waited 5 mins and had to call the pub to get someone out. When the bar maid came out she was polishing of some food. We then waited longer and asked for the food again and the bar maid was very aggressive and rude. If we were communicated too this would have defused the whole situation! What has happened to customer service these days!!

The Traveller's Joy is a lovely, traditional pub, popular with locals which is always a good sign as well as tourists. The young team are very friendly and efficient and the food whilst not fancy is good. What I would like to see is some investment by the brewery, Fullers. New glasses are needed as many in use are marked, as if not clean. i would defy anyone to balance a drink on the wonky picnic tables and dead hanging baskets are not a good look! There was a warm welcome and attentive service. This pub appears to have regular customers. My partner had fish and chips and I had the fish pie. The fish pie didn't look much like any fish pie I've had in the past - there was a heavy layer of cheese across the top - but it was tasty and the spinach still had texture which I like (i.e. just wilted not soggy). My partner's fish and chips was not so good. It looked fabulous but the reality was very thin fish - so that was overcooked - and overly thick batter which was undercooked. Chips needed a lot more cooking. And a lack of seasoning for both dishes. So come here for a pint and a chat with friendly staff (although at least one of them had been drafted in from another pub) but perhaps go home for lunch. I note though that the 'restaurant' side of the pub (exact same food) was very busy so perhaps they all knew to avoid the fish and chips.

We had a friendly welcome and we're shown to a table, the server brought us menus and took a drink order, we ordered some food. I chose the sausage and mash and my wife decided to have fish and chips. So far so good, but then we had a long wait for the food, so long we thought about giving up and trying somewhere else. The food did arrive and I had no issues with the sausage and mash, good standard pub food, the fish and chips was almost ok, fish was cooked well but the batter was more soggy than crispy. The bill was a good price and had the food arrived in good time I would have been happy. As it was I paid the bill but didn't tip, something I almost always do.

We really like The Earl Of March. The atmosphere is good. In summer it's great eating in the garden. The service and staff are lovely. But, they do really need to realise that there are a lot more vegetarians around now than there used to be. Including vegetarian children. The children's menu has not even one vegetarian option. Even something simple like pasta and sauce would do. On the adult menu, your only choice is a cauliflower dish at the moment, which is very tasty. But, unless you fancy putting together a load of sides to make up a meal, which you shouldn't really have to do in order to have a meal, the cauliflower dish is your only option on the menu. So, all round, an excellent place to visit/eat, with lovely staff, but they need to give some thought to adding some vegetarian dishes to their menus for vegetarian adults and certainly for vegetarian children, who have no vegetarian options at all on the kids menu.

Came in not expecting the fire to be lit as there wouldn’t be many people in. How wrong was I. This is a pub that lights the fire and keeps it going. It’s a welcome and not dependent on how many people are in! Brilliant. Can’t thank them enough. Shame other local pubs don’t follow suit.

My Wife and I had a lovely meal here which was a 20 minute walk from a well known touring park nearby. They are a very dog friendly establishment, and accommodating our little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel ( Dexter) was not a problem. Everything was cooked to perfection, and all the young ladies waiting on the tables were friendly and always smiling. We enjoyed our food so much we booked at short notice for the Sunday lunch which many people rate very highly. I am now one of those people, and I would say if you are in the area then book a Sunday lunch here, you will not be disappointed, and I think we can say that it is probably one of, if not the best dining out Sunday lunches we have experienced. We booked again for New Years Eve, and as with the previous two visits, the food and service were excellent. Well done to all the staff at the Richmond Arms, you are doing an excellent job in an industry which is tough at the minute.
