Food was average, service a bit slow, and the manager completely unconcerned about the crawling grease and fat trap mess at the front door and drive.

Sunday lunch with friends to celebrate a birthday. Friendly staff, good service and tasty food. Selected from the set three course menu, good value.

The food was excellent, with menu choices to cater for any taste or preference. All our dishes were imaginatively presented and looked very appetizing. Portion sizes were generous, the taste delicious and the service was friendly, responsive, unhurried and efficient. Overall a very enjoyable meal representing excellent value and a cut above many similarly prices venues. We'll definitely be back. We'll definitely be back.  Thank you.

All team members were welcoming and helpful. Food was delicious as always. Lovely atmosphere, music at a good level, temperature was also great.

Then before the end of the night before 10.30 were told the bar was shut on a Friday night Is there anymore that needs to be said We were using vouchers as a Christmas present which added to the disappointment of what should have been a good romantic night as a couple 😩🙃🙃

A group of colleagues and I visited for our annual Christmas lunch. First and foremost, I personally found the staff to be attentive and patient considering there were very few of them and a large number of diners from both our table and the other party in the same room. The food was delicious and there was just enough to make you feel like you'd eaten without leaving you stuffed to the gills. My meal was cooked to perfection. The only downside, and only a minor one, was that despite the venue being beautifully decorated for Christmas, there were no festive decorations on the table. No crackers didn't really bother me but it would have made our Christmas meal a touch more festive.

Been a few times to wayfarer but a bit of a let down this time. Restaurant is lovely inside, great atmosphere and the staff are very attentive, just the food feels a bit average. In particular the burgers. I had the chicken burger which came out looking very sad. Barely half a piece of chicken breast in a small bun and rationed toppings. Accompanied by a half full tin of fries to make a sparse looking plate. I recently ate at the Bulls Head in Repton and the chicken burger was cheaper and far better value and quality so it can be done. The desserts also felt a bit pithy for the cost. That said the pie and fish dishes my friends had were much nicer and better value. Overall not our best visit, feels like average pub food served in nice surroundings.

Not as menu says. Asian slaw was shredded cabbage, saffron poached peaches were dried apricots, chunky chips were fries and banana ice cream was vanilla ice cream. Disappointing.

We wanted to stop somewhere to break up our journey back from the Lake District- I found the Wayfarer on Google and picked it based on the pictures online.It was amazing! The staff were lovely, attentive and smart. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were great.The only downside is that this place is 3 hours away from home so it’s not somewhere we can easily return to.Thank you for a great meal!

It was boxing day and it was too busy to cook a decent meal properly. I had haddock and there was more batter than fish and that was inedible. The service was slow. Again it was boxing day. 40 minutes between ordering and the starter then half hour before main course and expensive for what we had. £240 for 6

The kids sausage and mash had sausages that were just gristle, and the mash was gritty. The mash oddly tasted like Smash… I informed the staff that it wasn’t good, apologised and charged me anyway. Always nice when your 5 year old leaves hungry

So disappointed with the meals we had today. Christmas Dinner (my husband and dear friend had this), the meat had very little taste. The meat was, wet. The sprouts, when my husband put his fork in them one shot across the table because they were almost raw. He couldn't get his fork in it. We asked for some fresh cooked ones and they were exactly the same. I had Sea Bass, fish was lovely but the spaghetti had a weird flavour to it and was very sloppy. Our other friends had suet pie. It looked like baby food. He kept saying" I didn't order this. It was a weird lump of suet with very little meat and a dollop of mash underneath it which was floating in gravy. We had for pudding Christmas pudding. It was ok, but brandy butter was frozen and it needed more sauce. Very disappointed, and very expensive.

Superb pub and restaurant. Very accessible with loads of parking. The food was top notch, the staff were brilliant and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere.

A great pre-Christmas family get together at the Wayfarer!

We were taking friends for a meal to say ‘thank you’ and wanted it to be a great experience…. it wasn’t! Service was slow, served by 4 different staff members so no consistency or rapport. Main course of belly pork (lukewarm) had a very poor jus which was far too rich and dried up, certainly microwaved at the very least. The Caesar salad consisted of eight lettuce leaves and a very dried up chicken breast. Drinks orders were wrong we had to prompt the waitress as we were missing a glass of wine. Waited far too long between courses and had to ask if we could order desert. The restaurant wasn’t busy so the service should have been excellent. Overall a really poor experience and will not recommend. We live locally but will not be returning, such a shame, what has happened to this restaurant.

We came to the Wayfarer for our Christmas meal and were seated in the busy bar area. The food was lovely and arrived promptly. The waiting staff were exceptional for such a busy night. They were attentive, knowledgable, professional and polite. I would recommend the chocolate fondant!

Delicious food and impeccable service again. Can't fault it. It's one of our favourite places to eat out and we've never had a bad meal. Thoroughly recommend.

This is the first time me and my friend have been here! And I’ve got to say the food was delicious we will definitely be coming again! The staff were lovely and friendly too. The one thing I thought was cheeky of the restaurant is to add on the tip automatically onto the bill ! I don’t think this is right if people want to tip the staff they should at their own will and not be made to feel bad if you ask to take it off the bill. I just really think it’s naughty of the restaurant to put it on without asking it’s like stealing in a way to because you haven’t asked for it. It’s just been taken. This is the only thing that let the restaurant down to be honest.

What can I say? This place gets 4.5 stars overall, and the decor is very nice, but I wouldn't bother again. Our food was served, no offer of the usual sauces etc, and no one serving appeard again, so I had to ask the barman to organise some vinegar that one of our party wanted. It was slow coming. Meals were ok at best, and certainly not inspiring; I had chicken leek & ham pie which appeared to be predominantly pureed leeks. Nice chips though. Vegetables consisted of just one strip of carrot and one of greens. Not really a balanced diet in my world. We ordered deserts; they didn't come. I eventually went and asked, and someone went and fetched them for us. Mine, for instance. was chocolate brownie with ice cream; it was obvious by the way the ice cream had melted that it had been served up and left standing and not brought through to us. If it had melted because the brownie was warm, it wasn't warm when I received it. It wasn't even particularly busy the day we went. Sorry to grumble, but the above is an honest and exact reflection of the experience of food and service that we had. The reason that I say that I wouldn't bother again is that there are a number of places very near by where we have consistently had much nicer food and much better service; and as far as I recall (and as a point of interest), none of them cost as much as the Wayfarer did. There was an automatic service charge added to the bill, which we declined to pay on the basis of our experience; we weren't asked if we were unhappy with the service we received. To summarise.... or experience at the Wayfarer was just not very good all round; but it has to be said again, overall other people give it 4.5 stars! That's my honest review, make of it what you will!

We booked the Wayfarer on the 30th of November for my wife's milestone birthday. We were booked in a room as there were twenty or so of us, which was great with one long table to accommodate us all . The food and the service were first class a big shout out to the staff , nothing was too much trouble keep up the good work guys. If there was only one problem I came across, it was that the doorway into the aisle we had to go through to get to the private room we booked was a tad bit narrow to wheel my wheelchair through so my son and daughter had to lift me out of my chair and fold it down then lower me back into it once through the door and then again when we left . To be fair, I've visited the Wayfarer before and been in the main area of dining and have not had any problems beforehand, and as a returning customer, I would definitely recommend The Wayfarer. We had reserved the small function room at 3pm for a special birthday, which costs extra but the website states "you will receive attentive service" and "all your needs will be attended to". We'd also ordered a bottle of prosecco with this. If you knew the birthday girl, you'd know this is the least she deserves and we wanted to make this a super special day for her with all the family. When we arrived the room wasn't ready, and we didn't get in until just after 3:35. These things happen, so in we go still upbeat but there were dirty glasses on the bar and a half eaten corn on the cob under my chair. A waitress said she would bring us some glasses for the prosecco. 4pm rolls round, still no glasses for the prosecco and no one to take our orders so we had to go looking and ask 3 times for someone to come and see to us. By 5:20, we're starting to get agitated now that we haven't had our mains, bearing in mind we were expecting to sit down at 3pm,so we went to ask for the manager. The food then arrived but one of the meals was wrong (serving chicken to a vegetarian) so then that guest had to wait longer for something to be cooked. She decided to use this time to go to the bar with our drink orders, since no one had come to the room to ask if we wanted drinks. At this point, a waitress came in regularly to see if we were OK, take drinks orders and ask if we were enjoying our meals. This was great but should have been the service (that we'd paid extra for) 2 and a half hours ago. The food was delicious, and we're the sort of family that makes the most out of any situation, so that's what we did. But it was really, really disappointing service which took the edge of what should have been a perfect day. The most insulting thing, was that we then asked if some of our bill could be discounted on account of the above, and the manager offered to take off the service charge. Now that's just silly. Service charges should be optional anyway, and we tip generously where deserved but we then had to haggle for some of the room charge to be discounted (would you pay extra for what we experienced?). Sort your service out and we'll be back, otherwise perhaps change the website description to "all your needs will be attended to after 180 minutes waiting and a complaint to the manager" and I'll happily pay full price because I've received exactly what was advertised.

Visited for lunch and it was superb. Very busy as there were some large Christmas parties too, which did slow service but not to the point of being annoying. Staff were great and Food was lovely (Chicken/Ham/Leak pie), although I think they could be a little more generous with the amount of veg :) But that's being picky. Great place and will return soon.

We had a table of 13 guests, who all enjoyed the food and thought the service from Molly was brilliant. We will be back here again! We throughly enjoyed our time here. Molly was brill at her job, she double checked our pre order form to make sure it was correct.

Just returned home from a family meal totally dissatisfied and can’t quite believe the terrible customer service ! One meal had been put through wrong so by the time it came everyone else had finished there meals we had to ask if we were being charged for it , cranberry sauce brought to the table when the meal has be eaten, we had to go and fetch our own dessert menus total lack of service will not be returning if this is your standard now .

Went here for a meal and wasn’t disappointed. Food was great as well as the ambiance within. We were served by Harry who was attentive and helpful throughout. Would recommend this place and will be returning.

We had a brilliant afternoon. Large party of 17 and the food was very good. The service was a touch slow but we were all chatting and drinking so it wasn’t a problem and I suspect the staff knew this. This place is really lovely and great value as well and the portion sizes are very good This is the second time we have been and we’re will definitely be back

5 NHS work mates went to the Wayfarer last night, to celebrate ‘Twins’ 50th birthday 🎂 We were quickly when seated, introduced to Molly our lovely friendly waitress. She explained everything we needed to know regarding our food orders. Nothing was too much trouble, tap water arrived to our table alongside our drinks. Molly checked everything was perfect for us throughout every course. We had a wonderful evening thank you very much Molly for looking after us so very well 😊

We had an 80th birthday celebration for my Dad in a private function room. The staff were lovely and friendly, the food was gorgeous and overall we had a lovely time. Would highly recommend to anybody.

Have eaten here so many times for so many years but it seems to be in decline. We arrived and we're seated and given menus, waited 15 minutes before being asked for our order and then asked if we wanted to order drinks, another 10 minutes before the drinks arrived, another 15 minutes before the food arrived, ate the food, which was nice then sat for 20 minutes with empty plates, no sign of any staff, gave up then and walked over to the bar and asked for the bill and was asked if everything was OK, explained what had happened, no offer of dessert or coffee no staff, got a shrug of the shoulders from a very arrogant young man and a very condescending sorry, paid the bill and left, not a great experience!

Marty is a really good runner took care of me and my family. Because of this i will come again. I come wayfarer often and Marty makes me feel welcome.
