The White Ball Inn in Mid Devon

You can always expect consistency when visiting wetherspoons, our visit to the White Ball was as we have become to expect with good service, hot food and good value Drinks.

Okay have to say we were disappointed today, there gluten free options are becoming less and less. We did manage the Christmas dinner but they ran out of stuffing and they did not bring the gravey until the meal was nearly finished even after asking several times.

Brill and certainly 1 of the best spoons I've visited

This place has changed beyond all recognition, I last visited in the 90's. But places change and the White Ball has established itself as a generic Wether Spoons, however it's great value and brilliantly run. The breakfast is excellent value, there are plenty of options for drinks, and the outside area is well laid out. Recommended.

It is what it is. Cheap food, cheap drinks and the staff are great too.

Excellent value and good service. As with some other Wetherspoons, parts of the breakfast could have been hotter than they were. There is an adjacent pay and display car park.

Quite spacious inside in terms of accessibility for wheelchair users. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Went here for a drink by the river and sat outside. Didn't eat here but reasonably priced.

Great value with their club meals. English breakfast and curry along with afternoon deals are my favourite, Nice real fire too able to enjoy drink in front of roaring 🔥. Shame spoilt by screaming kids running around.

Great pub with car park out back (you pay for parking). Really nice atmosphere, nice staff, the well is a great feature! Great food, fast service at a bargain price.

Great food, good value, good service, but gets very noisy when busy.

The food in this wetherspoons is ok, we have been a couple of times and each time the order has either been missing items, overcooked or missing altogether when one of our party didn't get their order at all. The staff did not seem engaged in solving the issues which is a shame as this would have gone along way to making the experience better. There is a public carpark to the side with easy access to wetherspoons if entering from the back.

I visit different Wetherspoons and often arrive in time for breakfast. It was a Saturday morning the White Ball was quite busy but I had no problem finding a clean quiet table. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was well presented, and good value as usual. I had time that afternoon to call in for a quick pint of real cider which was good before my bus home.

JDW, you know what you're getting. Sadly, 5 out of 5 breakfasts ordered at 10.45am today were only just warm.

It was a Thursday lunchtime, it was quite busy but there were empty tables and we didn't have to wait at the bar to order, the food came out hot with not too much of a wait, food was good, I had a bacon cheese and egg muffin and my hubby had the fish and chips, cheap and cheerful!

Lots of tables means you will not have to wait for long. But, not much of a individuality to it.

My wife and family only popped in for a coffee so can't really say anything about food. It's a lovely place.

Noticed it wasn’t very busy and fancied a quick breakfast so I ordered scrambled egg on toast with a couple of hash browns, food came very quickly and very hot, tasted great and as for the price point you really can’t fault it highly recommended and will defo be going again real soon

Have been to a lot of weatherspoons and they have been very clean and presentable this pub looks tired definitely needs to be refurbished but the food and the staff was brilliant 👏 👌

One surly staff on approach nearly made me turn back. Next one was ok, but chose a menu for its sticky soy and got salad dressing instead, then told by the chef, I should of been told at point of ordering they no longer had that on offer! Cheap and cheerful comes to mind. Outside is nice on a summers day.

Got kicked out of spoons as apparently school kids are supposed to carry their passports on them to eat here, despite the fact that we are 16. Sat there for 20 minutes and they waited until we had ordered (and paid) for our meals and (NON ALCOHOLIC) drinks before kicking us out. They gave us a refund receipt that will take a few days to come through. We caused no harm and ended up having to walk around in the rain, starving and in desperate need of food. Ended up with a Tesco meal deal, as we had no money left, and sitting on some hard concrete by the road. Truly hurt by this experience, will never be returning even when I carry my passport on me. P.S. the only decent things were the toilets (10/10) would use toilets again.

Fabulous food! Fabulous prices! Helpful staff.. it was so good we went two days on run and might even go again tomorrow!!

Pub was very busy on a BH weekend so high noise levels. Usual spoons fayre but seemed a little better prepared with good service. Great for a food 'pitstop' at reasonable prices. If you want to relax with a pint go elsewhere.

Typical Spoons, cheap and cheerful, big beer garden, next to the river! Loads of seating inside and out

They forgot about my order and left my food under the heat lamp, it came out dry and cold.

Couldn't do my meal eventhough ordered and in stock on app. Done my meal without asking me about a swap. Food arrived cold. And then my extras were non existent so had to ask for a refund. Staff not very friendly.

Very good curry night on Thursdays. Good service, especially for my friend who is mildly retarded and his husband who was squealing like a pig. A good time throughout. Really good quality balti dishes and crockery in general.

Great priced food for what it is, hot and quick service, friendly staff. Good place to go and get out the cold and wet.

The staff looked under age which is great as they didn't Id me. I managed to find mistletoe and had a rate good snog but they this fella with white lightening objected shouting "hands off my lady friend". A conversation began but luckily the youthful staff asked him to leave as the cider was too high quality for the establishment. I finished the evening in the Johns. Best night ever .

Nice clean weatherspoons in a good location near the river, transparent floor near the bar showing the underneath. 6 hand pumps, well kept ale and a friendly atmosphere.

Normal wetherspoons which means you know what you're getting. Few things not available on the menu.

Excellent service food ready in 10 minutes and delicious. An excellent find.

Awful staff- service & attitude. Rude & miserable! For a pink haired girl behind the bar, it was too much effort to serve individual customers! Her colleague took the same attitude because we didn’t want her to serve us anymore. Then ‘just because he could’ he asked my friend to leave when she questioned their attitudes. Then the ‘so called’ security guard (thug) man handled my female friend off the premises whilst swearing quietly at her. This all happened just because one person (pink haired girl) was unhappy. No-one should be rude to customers for no reason & an apology or to just snap out if it would have probably stopped this escalating as it did. These people really should not work in customer services or certainly need a lot more training. Managers should keep a closer eye on their staff. The security guard was totally over the top & used unnecessary force. The police have been informed. 3 people could have resolved this simply but couldn’t. It’s shocking what they think they can get away with. I will never return! No loss!

Took less than 5 muns for food to come, burnt tiny half slice of bacon a joke shop rubber egg only half right was sausage, my wife had jacket and chille the potato was hot but the chillie was chilly and cold we finished our food an 30 mins after ordering our drinks came. I have visited 67 spoons and this is second worse very bad quality

I loved coming here for food. Always cheap and tasty. But my last visit unfortunately put me off for life!! The mash looked like it came from a microwave meal and had sat on the side all day! And to be honest the chicken didn't look edible - I can't imagine I'd have been feeling very healthy of I'd eaten it. When I asked for it to be changed, the look I got from the member of staff made me change my mind and just ask for my money back. The bar lady was lovely and apologetic, but I was shocked and disappointed at the quality of food and won't be risking going back! My partners meal didnt look particularly appetising, and although he attempted to eat it as he was starving, he also was not pleased with what we had been served. Again, this is unfortunate as previous visits were lovely. I don't know if the chef has changed but the quality of food certainly has!

Terrible pub, tables are all sticky and the pub looks grubby. Beer was quite warm which wasnt great.

Super 'Spoons next to the river with a public car park next to it. Great value as ever. Large choice of ales at £2:55 a pint. 5 star rating reflects the value and Wetherspoon values, with clean toilets and fast service.

The staff (only the young girls) were friendly and understanding I can't say that about the rest. The food was ok and cheap like in every Wetherspoon. We entered the pub and sat in the garden as it was very dark inside. We did not see any NO DOGS ALLOWED signs nor anyone said anything. We ordered our drinks and food and we were happily consuming it when the waitress came along and told us to put a dog in the car or leave it behind the fence. It's not the problem that dogs weren't allowed, we would not enter if the signs were more visible. The problem was lack of customer service and a bad approach from the staff and manager. We will not be back.

Ordered a double American burger and straight away sent it back because both burgers were cremated.Waited 15 mins for a replacement meal.

Food was good. Only complaint was that the poppadoms were soft

The 3 star is for the service at the bar. Priority was given to those ordering on the App. A few people walked off. Service at the table was good and so was the food.

We stopped here for something to eat on way to East Purton. Food was good, staff very friendly and helpful. The toilets are wonderful .

Clean Pub, with Cheap food, cheap beer, what more could you ask ?!

It is difficult to say other than Wetherspoons in general serve good beer and food at a fair price, the White Ball is well in line with this.. But I still miss the time when Wetherspoons served the 14oz Aberdeen Angus steak, the smaller ones they serve now are somehow short of the mark. Is it just me, or do good big steaks and strong beers form part of an enjoyable life.

Incredibly busy on a Weds teatime - a good sign. This was a cheap but filling meal. Although they'd run out of gammon, so chose steak this was cooked really well. Service was prompt and very friendly. Only concern- the few free tables were piled up with plates etc. and needed clearing but staff looked really busy.

Just walked in and the bar is covered in glasses and the place is so untidy. The staff are very pleasant but just keep walking around the mess instead of having one person delegated to tidy the bar .they just need proper training . Shame !

Friendly staff, unfortunately there were issues with running out of drinks? Staff were apologetic so apart frim that all good and the pizza was good.

The perfect bar in Tiverton. With brilliant prices. I highly recommend using the wetherspoons app for a great table service. Great place for a meet up.

Food was cold and when told about it they were very indifferent although the server tried to sort it out.

Nice pub by river,large garden,has well covered in glass to walk on in bar .Small staircase to toilets but disabled access toilets available on ground floor.Good hot food,had steak which was cooked to perfection.Lovely Wetherspoons.

Very Good Curry with crisp poppadoms and decent nann bread. Cheap drinks prices as with all Wetherspoons. Food was much better than the average Spoons.

Personally I’m not a fan of weatherspoons pubs but this one is ok. The staff are nice and I have always found the atmosphere ok in this pub. I rate 5 knowing it isn’t the best pub in the world but it has character and is underrated. It definitely doesn’t deserve some of the hate it gets. I mean it’s by a river, that’s a winner in itself.

Service was great but should really consider more options for meals for people who suffer with celiac disease.

Pop in when in the area knowing that you're going to have a nice meal.

We was on a little break when visiting this pub, great choice, great value for money (which Is always welcome In today's climate) and the phone was what you paid for, nothing more nothing less.
