The Wishing Well in Manchester

This is a lovely place for Sunday roast - the interior of the building is beautiful and all the servers were very friendly. The food was great and I was super impressed with the vegan roast option! Would definitely come again!

Booked for an evening meal and arrived to no one at the bar. Waited round for a few minutes and someone eventually said they would get the manager. They took us to the table and told us there weren’t serving food (it was 7pm) and they just had bar food. They really should have let us know beforehand because we booked this days in advance for dinner. Ended up leaving and he never even thought to apologise.

Attended on a Saturday night, the place was empty and lifeless. 3 tap lagers/beers were out of stock. The fridges behind the bar were pretty empty and the cost of the drinks was extortionate. I don’t have high hopes of this place lasting long sadly.

Great for youngsters, but no proper beer if that's what you're into.

Absolutely lovely food here, the bar snacks were so tasty. Nice warm atmosphere and plenty of places to grab a seat. Staff really friendly, be back soon

Let's start from the positive notes (not many): The Wishing Well is a lovely place with a lot of space, and the staff are all very friendly & efficient. However, what a disappointing & upsetting experience we had for our X-Mas Party. We were served a limited list of capapes that to define uninventive and poor is an understatement: I dot not need a professional (?) Chef to serve me some Ritz crackers with some squirt cheese and a slice of cucumber on top. The main course was even more disappointing, because it was cold ish and it was served in incredibly small portions (we all left hungry!), and let's not mention the desert. In fairness, one of the Managers apologized to all of us and kindly offered a free drink to everyone. OK, we were a big group of people, but they knew that since they took the booking. And finally, apparently the Chef (?) walked away after this sort of disaster. Question: did he walk away or did he get arrested by the "Food Quality Police"?

Went in for food/drinks and was asked if we wanted to attend one of their quiz/bingo/open mic nights. Looked into it later and saw open mic advertised on Tusday night, emailed to reserve, but got no reponse. However, it said pop ins welcome, 3 of us travelled far across town to reach it and found the pub shut and no notice on their page about the open mic night being cancelled and to date no response to our email.

Came for food the other day, was served by Gary who was absolutely brilliant. The roast dinner was amazing, way better than last time I came. The gravy was the best I’ve had in Manchester. He recommended me their signature cocktail the ‘Aussie Cooler’ which was delicious.

Food and drinks were very good in a really nice atmosphere. It should be said that our waitress Francesca was incredibly warm and conscientious. Overall a very pleasant evening with the family.

Visited for the first time Sunday 12 Nov, booked a table for 5pm, 4 people. Very impressed with the bar service and staff were lovely. We had a drink in the bar first before being shown to our table. We were given menus and told that they only had pork belly left for the Sunday dinner. Which whilst not ideal, 3 of us chose to order this. The 4th person chose fish & chips but unfortunately they had ran out. We opted for the 3 course option to be told, they didn't have any Desserts left at all!! So we opted for the 2 course option instead. We requested sides of Cauliflower Cheese because they had no roast potatoes and guess what, they had no Cauliflower Cheese left !! The food we did have was nice but the experience would put us off visiting again. The restaurant wasn't even busy. I wish they had you'd me at the time of booking (330pm) that the menu was extremely limited

Popped in for first time on a Wednesday during a great music bingo night by Tom which was fantastic. Really friendly staff and lovely spot!

Lovely Sunday roast, good value for money but there was no desserts on which was a shame as we were looking forward to having them as our second course. Cauliflower cheese could be a bit more cheesy. Good service!

Really bad meal. Cold and bad quality food. Went for Sunday roast and was reheated food and tough meat. Burger was some sort of reconstituted substance. There were four of us and no e of us could eat our meals and sent it all back. Weren’t charged for the food but very disappointing experience. Also ran out of desserts and our booking was 1.30! Would not recommend.

Visited during the opening and only have good things to say! The starters, mains and deserts were all great. Poppy our waitress was helpful. We had a great day. Will be returning again soon!

Four of us visited on Sunday afternoon, table booked for 4pm. We ordered two beef roasts, two pork roasts, and an extra side of mashed potatoes. It was after 5pm when our server returned to tell us they had no beef left. She then had to come back shortly after to tell us there would be no roast potatoes either. It was well after 5:30pm before the meals finally arrived. It was apparent they'd also ran out of seasonal greens and there was barely enough mashed potatoes for the four mains, with no possibility of the extra side. The food was lukewarm, with the exception of the stone cold carrots, but by that point we'd have eaten anything. We didn't bother asking about dessert. The servers were pleasant, apologetic, and embarrassed. I have sympathy for them as blatant mis-management put them in a most unenviable position. The manager gave us two of the roasts for free, as well as a free round of drinks, but the gesture rang hollow as he had to offer similar to other tables around us. It wasn't enough for us to want to return.

Worst Sunday roast I’ve ever had. The food was an hour late, the veg was cold and raw and the potatoes were like stones. The staff didn’t acknowledge how long it was taking or try even speak to us to offer another drink or to apologise and refused to look us in the eye when the bill came.

Table booked for a special occasion and upon arrival we were immediately told that it was over an hour wait to order and a number of items on the menu weren’t available. We left and found a table elsewhere. Disappointing!

Absolutely the best waiter ever. We had the most drinks served in one and a half hours. Drunk what we are and that is what we intended. Happy is what we are x

We did the bottomless brunch as a group of 6 girls. Amazing experience. Tom our host was fab constantly kept us filled up with Prosecco and cocktails. Food was also lovely. Best bottomless brunch I have done!

This pub is nice inside. The food we had was piping hot and tasty, very small menu though and not cheap prices. Drinks ok.however one thing that really niggled me is soon as we were seated we were asked if we would like some water. We said yes, i was looking at the menu choosing food when said water arrived. It was only after i had started sipping it that i realised we has been brought a large bottle of mineral water that we were charged for. I think this is very sneaky. If asking diners if they want water it should be made clear its bottled water and chargeable. Its put me off going back to be honest.

Pre football Saturday lunch - despite waiting 40 minutes for food (it wasn’t busy) the chicken and bacon Alfredo linguine arrived almost cold We visit a lot for drinks and like the atmosphere such a shame they can’t get the food right - we didn’t get an apology

Excellent Sunday roast. Enjoyed the sirloin of beef and lamb roulade. Juicy and flavourful meat. Starters were done well too. Great service, friendly and helpful staff. We arrived earlier than our table reservation and sat at the bar tables which were ample and more comfortable than going upstairs.

Decent place, a bit of too much smell from the kitchen, the food was expensive for the price. Ice cream for dessert, and it was the cheapest from Aldi quality

Our first visit to The Wishing Well in Didsbury left us with mixed feelings. While our initial experience had some issues, I must commend the restaurant gor their exemplary handling of our complaint. Upon raising our concerns, the staff was quick to address them, going above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. Their responsiveness and dedication to resolving the situation left a positive impression, showing their commitment to customer service. We recently dined at the Wishing Well and while the food was decent, it didn't quite wow us. The Ribeye steaks were perfect but the risotto and breast of chicken gnocchi was very salty and seemed rushed. However, I must say the service was exceptional, and the drinks were top-notch. The attentive staff, in particular the management staff (Nathan) and his colleagues. Fantastic cocktails, lovely atmosphere and attentive staff definitely elevated the overall experience.

Went in for a quick lunch, waited 35 mins and our burgers still hadn't arrived. We were told it would be a minute as the chef was just melting the cheese on them, 5 mins later still no food so we had to leave to go back to work. Most annoyingly the place was empty apart from one table of people drinking.

I was taken by surprise When we booked in to this pub i am sure it was different to my previous visit a few years ago Anyway it turned out lovely I had fish and chips it wasn't what was on the menu I was choosing sea bass but it wasn't available on the day but still I enjoyed my fish and chips anyway Dessert was lovely to set menu price are available one of which we had two courses for 20 quid not to bad

Excellent Bottomless brunch served by Daniel - thank you for your quick and attentive service! The Floeer Power was my favourite cocktail and the fast flowing Prosecco was superb. Could have been more choice for the food, and possibly larger portion, but the chicken and waffles I had was delicious.

Not sure why it has 4.7. As a pub it is fine but don't order food. Had the steak pie and everything was over salted, to the point it was almost inedible. Such a shame I was looking forward to a good gastro meal.

I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed when eating out and I eat out a lot. I had wanted to try this place since it opened and finally got round to visiting today, wish I hadn't bothered. I had such high hopes but the whole experience was bad from start to finish. On being seated we were asked if we wanted any water for the table, we noticed another table had a jug of water and after the 40 minute drive to get here we were rather thirsty so we accepted the offer. However a large bottle was brought over and poured for us and we were charged £4.00 for it. At no point were we asked if we wanted to order any other drinks (we would have ordered 2 cokes which would have cost more than the water we didn't really want but ended up sticking with begrudgingly!) Then my starter of leek and potato soup came with cream when I had asked for it without (without is an option stated on the menu) so off it went back to the kitchen, then we waited..and waited. Eventually my partner's starter came which he tucked into thinking mine would be here any moment. The manager came over and asked how the starters were and I stated I was still waiting for mine, eventually it turned up after my partner had finished his. I proceeded to eat my rather large bowl of soup whilst my partner waited. A bit of a wait later the mains came which were steak and caramelised onion sandwiches which were room temperature at best. Overall a massive disappointment and not worth the 40 minute drive. I had wanted to try the desserts more than anything else but we had already been there for over an hour and a half (and the place wasn't even busy) and by this point we just wanted to leave. No tip was left which I hate doing but I couldn't even leave a tip for the food never mind the service. I hate leaving bad reviews and by all means give this place a try, all the other reviews can't be wrong, but perhaps don't set your hopes as high as I did.

Had a lovely visit to the Wishing Well today. The team, especially Francesca and the girl who seated us (apologies didn't get a name) were super welcoming to our small group (including baby). The atmosphere in the pub reflected the service in being warm and friendly. The food (Sunday roasts Beef and Pork) would've been fantastic value if it had cost twice as much. A great addition to Disbury Village and will be coming back!

Delicious Sunday roasts - as a family we tried the beef, lamb and chicken pie. All were amazing. Piping hot and generous portions. They have the atmosphere just right. Cosy and welcoming without being cramped and the varied music is at the right volume. A warm welcome from Izzy on arrival and Rosa looked after us really well at our table. All the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. The Wishing Well martini is gorgeous! First visit - will definitely return!

Really lovely setting and a great spot for a drink. Service from Rosa was great, extremely attentive and friendly. Food in the past has been much better. Feels like standards drop when the restaurant is busier and it could be a lot better quality.

The service provided by Francesca was at the same level you would get from a 5 star hotel in the Bahamas. Highly recommendable on multiple levels. If you do visit, as I was advise it’s worth the visit, please leave Francesca a tip 😀😀

I came here with a bunch of work colleagues and it was a great venue for post-work drinks and food. We were served by Francesca who couldn't have done more for us, despite doing multiple peoples' jobs. She was incredibly friendly and attentive. Overall, great experience and we'll be back soon!

It was a bit quite when we first arrived. Tom our server was fantastic and definitely knowledgeable of the menu. The mussels were fantastic. I had the chicken breast with gnocchi which was definitely a good choice. We also order the steak pie but with fat chips my husband said it was gorgeous my daughter had the chicken burger who also enjoyed that. We will definitely be back.
