Warm friendly local. Big food portions, typical pub food, nothing special but filling. Drink prices are high £8 for a glass of wine.

Always a brilliant experience; our favourite place to eat out. Steak was well cooked and enjoyable, although I would prefer fries to chunky chips, but that’s personal preference. Only issue was a hair on the chocolate brownie, but I have been here many times, and this is the first issue in a long time, so can’t complain really. Definitely recommend to anyone.

First time visiting The Woodside on New Year’s Eve 2024. What a fantastic experience! Janet (our waitress) definitely added her personal touch and is obviously a credit to your team. Both food AND drink were spot on Happy New Year to one of the BEST restaurants / pubs we’ve been too in a long time!

Three of us went for a Christmas lunch in December, we ordered traditional turkey. We all had 3 very small slices of Turkey we were disappointed with this, nowhere near enough, the other 2 dinners arrived and mine was a few minutes later. There was orange fat all over my gravy and the roast potatoes, parsnips and carrots all tasted like they had been deep fried, it was awful. So disappointed, I’m not sure why mine was like that but the other 2 weren’t!

We enjoyed a lovely Christmas Day lunch at the Woodside. The food was delicious and piping hot. Even though it was very busy there was plenty of staff working hard to ensure a very pleasant atmosphere and experience.

Great service from all throughout our Christmas dinner cannot fault any part of service. The food could have been slightly better for price we are paying - roast potatoes dry, parsnips hard and beef wellington over done.

My friend and I went for Christmas Eve lunch menu special. Value for money these days was acceptable but quality of offering lacking. Starters fine but mains of traditional turkey dinner needed improvement. The vegetables were overcooked and not sure where the stuffing was. The roast potatoes were not fresh and the gravy looked liked it had been microwaved. That said, the meal wasn't served hot. Pinot Grigot was nice. I didn't take a pudding as everything was heavy and sickly sweet. I expected a better offering. I ate my meal as I was hungry but doubt I'll visit again.

Despite being mega busy, I thought the service was excellent and the food ( I had steak, which was cooked to perfection!) was piping hot ( as I personally like it to be) and just great! Two days before Christmas and the ambience was fab!

Went for lunch. Upon arrival one person behind the bar trying to do everything, so understaffed at the busiest time of the year. Waited 10 minutes to be served without success, so walked out and took a Uber to the Bowling Green in Leigh where we were served within 2 minutes of walking in the Pub. There was no apology from the person at the Woodside for the long wait, or even an acknowledgement. Will not waste my time going again. Had a fantastic lunch at the Bowling Green, it was very busy, but service was fantastic.

My group of ex-work colleagues meet up every few months, we used to go to Worsley Old Hall, the last couple of occasions we have met up at The Woodside. Very impressed! The food is excellent! Sounds a basic dish, fish and chips, but it was fit for a King!! The service given was first class by a superb waitress, we were greeted with a smile, which makes a big difference. I'm already looking forward to the next time at the Woodside already! 😀👍

Group of 9 went for my mums 80th. Pub was busy and bustling which was a good sign. Staff very accommodating and friendly which is also good to see. However food was remarkably underwhelming and disappointing. I had pate for starter which was watery (with a yucky warm pickle). Then for main had prawn on a skewer which were simply 5 dry prawns on a skewer no sauce, accompanied by oven chips , a lettuce leaf and coleslaw. Pretty tasteless. Then had cheese board, which was ok. Wine selection was fairly good. Was pretty pricey but to be expected in pub restaurants these days. The pub left an opportunity to leave a review which is a good sign too. However I doubt will go again but wish it all the best

A nice environment and friendly, helpful staff but sadly the food is well overpriced for the quality of what is served. I paid £18 for fish and chips; I don't believe the fish was freshly battered and it was very dry.

Food very sub standard, still typically mass produced. Scallops & King Prawn starter, terrible, tiny overcooked prawns, can’t say I noticed the scallops, £12.95!!!! Beetroot hummus was just tasteless puréed beetroot, not at all hummus, dips with the calamari & chorizo sausage tasteless

Booked for my mums 80th birthday. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. However, the food is extremely overpriced for what is actually served. My mum and Aunt both ordered a streak based dish(I didn't take notice of the name of the dish) which was close to £30 and when the food arrived, the mash was very nice, but the carrots were just full length in half and the cut of meat was all bone and fat. Very little to eat off it. My other aunt and my cousin ordered the sea bass with potatoes. Which were so hard they could not be cut and were virtually raw. The staff kindly offered them a free dessert and replacement of chips. All in all not the best experience, considering the bill came to just under £500, we will not be returning.

Great experience for a Monday night. Janet and Conor were very helpful.

Checked on line lots of tables for 3 till 5:30. It was 3pm got there and told there was no tables. When I mentioned the app was told you can have a table but you have to eat within a hour. Children’s meal was ok wife’s pizza felt like it had never seen cheese I got the hot beef brisket on artisan bread. Looked like a a beef paste small sandwich or dog food. was cold bread burnt No one came over till the end to late then to resolve anything tried to get attention but everyone was to busy. Avoid gone down hill so much doesn’t compare to other vintage pubs

Firstly I must say the service from Kate was first class - so helpful and accommodating. I love the pub but I do feel that the pricing has gone up significantly and it is not commensurate with the quality (basic) of the food.

Booked a table expecting to have a nice meal out with my family for a treat. However things have changed so much at this place. Quality seems to have taken a nose dive. I have eaten here before and thought it was a very nice experience and had good food. but this time around things were so different. The starter was nice but the main was crazy, it looked like the chef was trying to build a bonfire on the plate the way he piled everything up. Overcooked potatoes that had obviously been sat under some kind of warmer for a long time made them chewy and dry. soggy carrots and broccoli were piled up with the lamb on top. The lamb was mostly fat and the meat was very chewy. This was all made to swim in a sea of gravy, My wife chose the pork and her plate was the same, all fat and very little meat. To be fair it wasn't the worst meal I've had but certainly not worth paying £82 for. 1 starter 1 main and 1 drink for two adults with no desert and a children's meal. This is just shocking. I would expect top notch food for this price. I will never be returning.

Recently moved to the area and myself and my partner wanted a date night . Woodside is so wonderful staff are amazing and make you feel at home would definitely recommend this place Will definitely be coming again
