Thyme Oxton in Wirral

Went on Thursday evening for our anniversary and had such a fabulous meal that we immediately booked for Sunday lunch. What a letdown. Arrived on time to be advised by the maitre d' that the only available tables were by the front door with 'iron throne' seats and every customer and member of staff constantly passing by, or upstairs but had to vacate the table within the hour because a large party was expected. How preposterous! So we cancelled and went to a nearby pub instead. Sent an email complaint but have had no response. A master class in how to win and lose local customers at one fell stroke!

We’ve visited twice recently after wanting to visit for a while. The first time we enjoyed the meal deal with the wine. It was lovely and great value The menu was a little limited but it was a nice experience. The second time we visited we enjoyed the Sunday roast. The meat was lovely and well seasoned (but a sharper knife would have been good) the veg was beautiful as was the gravy. The only disappointment was the roast potatoes which I had expected to be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside but they were a bit dry and underwhelming. It’s a nice place to enjoy a meal and the staff are lovely. Just need to work on the roasties and you’ll be on to a winner.

Husband had a full English and I had creamy mushroom with blue cheese and rocket. Both were delicious. Helpful staff too.

Staff were very welcoming and pleasant. Food was good, but menu limited in range. Upper mid price; gastro pub prices (but good quality)

I can’t comment for other times of the day but we had a really great breakfast here - food was good, especially the eggs were cooked really nicely. The lad serving us was very good, made sure everyone was happy with their food. Decaf coffee is a bit pricey - that’d be my only complaint.
