Unlike poncey Leeds, Wakefield town centre is still full of small, independent, unpretentious cafes. This is our favourite, and before the pandemic, we used to travel here from Leeds regularly, mainly to get the ace vegan breakfast. We recently returned, and were so pleased that it survived the multiple lockdowns, and is still serving great food at bargain prices. There's been a change of ownership, with the super-friendly manager buying the place, and still doing a great job. She is such a lovely, friendly woman, and runs the cafe fantastically. It's been fully refurbished, and looks really nice, while still retaining the same character. There's seating outside too. They cater for all diets, and the vegan breakfast is £7, including tea or coffee - you struggle to get avocado on crumb for that in Leeds! They do some great cakes too. If you're in Wakefield, it's not far from the bus station, and definitely worth a visit. It's even worth a day out! Can't recommend this lovely cafe enough :)

I went into this cafe on a whim as needed a place to stop for a quick cuppa. Staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, we had a good laugh! The cheesecake I had was also excellent and a huge chunk so fab value for money. I would reccomend.

This is my first review, we went here for lunch, I had a bacon sandwich, the bacon was covered in burnt black bits, griddle needs a good clean. Daughter had lasagne, totally over microwaved, hard, dry and inedible. She left the entire meal. Wife had a full breakfast, cheap sausage and only ok(ish). Cost £18. We were too embarrassed to ask for a refund and left having not eaten and £18 out of pocket. Avoid like the plague. Won’t ever revisit.

I took someone with me today ,work related. I ordered medium steak pie, chips and veg with gravy. The food came and was terrible. A tiny dry crust and steak like bullets about 8 small pieces hardly chewable. Gravy was cold ,veg very overcooked and tasteless. Chips were nice as homemade. Don't know what has happened to this cafe. It used to be very good. I was ill when I got home and vomited everywhere. Never again !!!

We used to love this place but we went recently and what a disappointment! We ordered a full English. The Ingredients have changed for a start. The food was barely cooked, mushrooms were virtually raw, bacon watery, I Had to send it back and request it re cooking. I asked for real butter when I placed my order as I know usually it comes served with margarine, they agreed and took my money. It arrived with margarine, when I questioned this they told me the government didn’t allow them to offer real butter! Utter rubbish restaurants constantly serve food with real butter, chippys cook with dripping, for heavens sake. It was bad enough not being served what I’d asked for without having my intelligence insulted as well.

I called today whilst out shopping with my husband and we tried the strawberry cheesecake... oh my it was super delicious made by the owner himself, we shared one as they were very generous sized portions. I will be back to sample another flavour as they make different types each day. We sat outside to enjoy the fresh air but the cafe itself was Covid safe, appropriately spaced tables and sanitizer on entry. Can highly recommend

Had a lovely festive Christmas lunch today with my 80yr old mum . I had Pre booked are table and had selected the 2 course festive option for £19.99 each Either a starter or desert And a main . The table was set nicely with table cloth and crackers. The bridge wasn't busy and the atmosphere was relaxed with nice Christmas tree We had 2 turkey Christmas dinners which were a good size and hot everything cooked well , mix of vegetables and the turkey was nice and thick . Only thing I'd say is the gravy was all ready on the meal and it would be nice to have this item separate in a gravy boat as I'm not a big gravy fan and would have like to have put my own on .. but it didn't spoil the meal . Then we had warm lemon tart and a sticky toffee pudding . Both very nice I think it was great value for a pre Christmas meal Leyton are server and behind the bar was very a pleasant young man . Me and mum had a nice Friday lunch 13/12/24
