Visited local garden centre at Wolseley Bridge many times and eaten in the restaurant, having lunch and afternoon tea, including at Christmas. Will not be returning after experience last Friday. Drove my two neighbours there for the festive lunch and after a reasonable meal, nothing special, went to settle the bill for all of us as I had made the booking and paid the deposit. The girl on one of the two tills was trying to sort out payment from five ladies who also had made a group booking but wanted to pay separately. The system wasn't co-operating and she resorted to calling someone to help. That someone turned out to be the restaurant manager. After she figured out how to accommodate the various payments she turned to leave and I asked whether someone could please take my payment as I was not part of the other group and by this time I had been waiting patiently for about 15 minutes. She simply said they were all busy though by this time it was 2.30 pm and quiet. I asked whether she could do it herself but she said, quite rudely, that she had 'other things to do', turned and walked away. I suggested to her retreating back that perhaps her priority should be customer service but she took no notice. When finally I got to pay it took one minute. That one minute and a 'sorry' is all it would have taken to avoid this review.

Ideal historic venue for breakfast from the traditional Wetherspoon's wide choice. All excellent value, served by friendly and efficient staff. Toilets were spotless, and the whole place is a real asst to the town (as it has been for 110 years).

14 of us turned up for lunch and they said no problem moved a table so we were all together we had a couple of drinks in the bar area as they had a couple of log burners roaring away a beautiful setting as we had family over from America they loved the character and charm of the place, the staff were very friendly and helpful, we sat down to a really good selection of meals on the menu, most of us had something different and were very pleased with the quality and quantity of the food I had a bacon, brie and chutney sandwich with fries on the side it was delicious. The staff made sure we wanted for nothing can highly recommend the swan and will definitely be returning.

We went as a family (9 of us)for Christmas Day dinner. The food was lovely- plenty of it and well cooked. The staff were very welcoming and happy to help, i.e finding an out of the way place to store a wheelchair for us. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A few more staff would have been a bonus for special occasions such as Christmas, but aside from that it was very good.
