Yatton Fish Bar in North Somerset

I have visited Yatton Fish Bar for about 30 years. When my children were small (now 38 and 39) they enjoyed getting a takeaway and sitting in the car watching the trains at Yatton Railway Station. HOWEVER, this evening, (we are having a new kitchen fitted) we decided to get something out and remember past times. We arrived just after 1700hrs. The chips were soggy and not properly cooked and my cod was so dry! It was a medium cod, which I would have rated a small or child's portion!!! In the good old days the owner would be trying new potatoes or oils, and ask for our opinions. This evening has put me off Yatton Fish Bar for the rest of my life!!! Maybe I have just experienced a bad time for the business, but how can such a wonderful chip shop go so far down the hill? I would be interested to hear from the management please...

We ordered from Yatton fish bar for delivery which is great option. The menus was good plenty to choose from. We had 2 kebabs which were lovely the only downside was the garlic mayo was quite running and thin. We also had 2 children’s meals,, fish cake and chips and a small cod and chips. We would recommend going for a larger cod as small was really small. The food was all cooked well and tasted good.

Food freshly prepared, good sized portion, as always good meal from local business with excellent service and food.

Spent £22.00 odd this evening For a family take away We all were sadly disappointed and were left hungry The chips were tasteless and hard! Nearly got stuck in our throat how hard most of them were! Sausages was terrible over cooked and taste less. Fish was over cooked and very very greasy. This is the second time this has happened We were hoping the time before was just a one off! Such a shame as local to our village Only doing this review in hope they sort this

Called in yesterday whilst passing through, warmly welcomed by staff, instantly impressed with how smart and clean the shop was. The fish and chips were excellent, firm flaky fish in a lovely light batter, and lovely crisp chips. 100% all round

Went into the shop, staff were really polite and helpful and the food was amazing, would highly recommend

Saturday is often fish and chips for tea delivered promptly and piping hot by the friendly chap (sometimes chapess). Easy to order and pay online. Great service and really nice food too.

I rang Yattonfishbar to say I think I had been given a standard Cod instead of a large they said I had been given a large. I asked for email so I could send a picture, the email given does not work. I think they thought I would just go away. All I suggested was the next time perhaps they could charge me a standard price and give me a Large Cod. A fair resolution I thought. We've ordered from Yatton Fish Bar regularly for years and more so throughout the pandemic. The food is always good and arrives hot and on time. Portions are a good size and reasonably priced, we've always been happy with the service.

So lucky to have such a good chippy in the village. Good range of traditional chip shop food plus kebabs. The new delivery service is amazing. Food arrives on time and piping hot. A real asset to the village

Literally just walked in 20 minutes before their advertised closing hours to be told they have already closed the grill etc, the only thing left is a poor flimsy looking spring roll (which I also ordered) but can't be bothered to make me a burger - Don't bother. Only went in because there is no other option at 10:10 and apparently neither is Yatton fish bar at this time! Won't bother again!

My wife went to this evening and asked for Plaice & small chips. The owner couldn't be bothered to cook the Plaice said he was too busy with a large order! Even the staff were shocked. Always thought th chip were third rate and the fish portions minute compared to where we used go but have been going because it is convenient. Not any more, would rather starve than use this place. Plenty more takeaways around.

Food is good, I drive there and get small fish and chips, coleslaw and sit near the church, eat my small cod for £2,95 I think.? Very reasonable and caters for small bellies like mine. I highly recommended this place. I drive from Bristol monthly to have some lovely fish. Keep it up guys. Awesome food 🙏

Kebabs, fish and chips and burgers etc.. My favourite chips as lots of scrumpy bits mixed in. Cold drinks, good choice. The parking is terrible do best to park in co op or church. Average prices, not too dear. Nice chicken and donor kebabs. Friendly staff

Your go to place in yatton for a traditional fish and chips takeaway Although the price is a little steep compared to other local takeaways and chip shops the flavour is delicious and have been enjoying takeaways for years Chips, fish, kebabs, sausages it's all there for you to enjoy while in the village of yatyon or just passing though

This is my go to chippy. I live about 10 minutes away and there is a closer chip shop but I always make the trip to come here. Lovely chips, divine chicken and friendly staff. A warm and welcoming family run business. Absolutely recommend.

I love this chip shop. Lovely food cooked to a high standard. Onion rings in batter are lush. Slimming friendly kebabs not dripping in fat. Scrumpy bits in the chips. Open quite a lot and fair prices. My family like the Yatton specials. Sauces and condiments are a little expensive.

hit and miss really, last week gorgeous fish and chips, no complaints.This week, rubbish, chips ok but fish small when asked for large and the amiture mistake of wrapping the fish with the chips, 5 mins home and soggy fish.will still keep going as the only local joint

Want to throw away £20 on old battered stale fish, hard stale greasy chips, sausages that are so saturated in grease the inside of the batter is dark yellow? Well your at the right place. Never going back? So what, they just wait for the next mug. It should be illegal to sell food that’s old, reheated, not worth giving to dogs.

I really like this fish and chip shop , especially the kebabs the kebabs are really nice and the salads are really fresh what I like also I’ve tried the chips fish etc and their really lovely to ! Give this a try really lovely food at reasonable price :)

Popped in one evening for a pint and a pie and chips. Good beer and decent pub grub and both extremely good value.

This is my local chippy. I have had better elsewhere but prices are reasonable as is the food that I have eaten

I normally get my kebabs from Clevedon and after getting one from here, wish I had! I asked for a large mixed kebab and waited for it to be cooked. When I got the kebab, it was small to say the least. When asked if I'd like salad? Yes please..... a small amount and I mean a small amount was served.

We visited the fish bar on Saturday night about 10ish at night when my wife and I was abused by one of your locals think his name was john very drunk all I can say is what a lovely way to build passing trade for a little village shop I will definitely not recommend going late at night as it seem the locals can not handle there drink

Un excelente pescado y chips - ofrece un bono de lealtad (recogerá sellos en una tarjeta de cada visita) - y su propia especialidad! Pequeña llanura curry salchichas bacalao, salsa o blanda guisantes! Excelente.

All the Fish is Freshly Cooked along with the Chips, so NO earlier in the day overcooked stuff. Kebabs and more they always seem Very Busy and have a Queue going out of the front door .

Really lovely fish and chips, always freshly cooked to order. Cannot fault at all! Very friendly, can pre order via the telephone and ready for pick up to save waiting too long!

When I go here I rarely have fish and chips even though it is a Fish Bar but do love their kebabs. Always a great portion size and they really do tick the box. There is parking outside the fish and chip shop for a maximum of 2 cars or alternative parking is available across the road or their are a couple of side streets to park in if needed. This is a family run business who have been in Yatton for many years and always look after their customer.

The place is a take away. Parking a bit dodgy but on the main road.Food ok. Fish nice as were the chips. Kebabs were quite nice too.

Excellent quality fish, chips, kebabs etc. Salad for kebabs excellent, always fresh and crisp and numerous choice as with sauces to add to meat, Yatton Special most excellent value

Had a food few times there and it was always very tasty. Yatton special is what I would recommend, but they're having very good burgers as well. Very good prices, for 10 pounds you can have delicious food.

We recently visited this for the first time. The bar was clean and we noted that in addition to standard fish and chips they offered, among other things, kebabs. I thought that although the batter was quite crisp the actual fish content was somewhat meagre, but the chips were quite good. We will probably use it occasionally in future, as we live nearby.

Popped in here today in order to get daughter something to eat quickly. Chips were good and the scampie excellent.

Have tried on 4 different occasions now and the batter on the fish has been rubbish every time, Chips have ranged from fantastic one time through good/average to greasy and undercooked. It is unlikely we will give them any more chances as there has been something letting it down every time.

I went here for the first time tonight and I will not be returning. I was slightly put off by the fact that when I asked for pie and chips, they asked whether I would like it microwaved as it wasn't hot enough. They microwaved it, but when I got home a few minutes later, I found that it was completely cold in the middle. The chips were also terrible - half were over cooked and the other half were under cooked - and they were really greasy, hence the paper they were in was saturated with grease. Absolutely horrible.

We ordered a couple of yatton specials . Small piece of fish/ chips /battered sausage and a choice of side (we had curry sauce)Chips lovely/ fish was a bit over cooked and dry on battered ends and the curry was normal chip shop made up curry sauce which had sultanas in it. Not my thing but decidedly quite nice poured over the fish chips abs sausage. My only bug near the tins were tiny and not full to the top so not quite the curry sauce experience you would like. However the combo worked well and for the money under £4 was a cheap alternative to cooking that filled us up. Will go again

Coming from a seaside area and spoilt for great fish/chip shops, finding a good one in the country was never going to be easy. We found some to be tasteless and went here expecting the same.Glad to see that they were great! Portions were good, Prices good (we are used to seaside prices!) and we have been a few times since.The place is clean and tidy, which is nice to see and the staff are polite and efficient despite all being quite young. Best we have found in the area so far.

You get a great selection,in this fish and chip shop. They cater for small kids by doing boxes and a toy of various fillings to go in it. My best thing happens to be the freshly cooked cod and chips. Going to the chip shop for us is a treat. When we do go it's always been value for money (especially if people who own it are serving bigger helpings).

Stayed at our daughters babysitting had fish and chips, they were really good and enjoyable , we have used you before and well done you have spend some money decorating well done its clean and tidy with great food. We live in Taunton so well done.

Sometimes the best take away ever, others it's just mediocre. Depends if the owners are working or not. Very expensive but you do get a lot. Kebabs are especially good

Visited Yatton for a one week visit. Decided early on to have a fish & chips take away. Excellent piece of fish accompanied by very good chips. Enjoyed it so much we went back for a second time during the week. Highly recommended.
