We were staying close by and dropped onto TripAdvisor for ideas of where we could grab a breakfast, ahead of a busy day. The Buttery was perfect. Parked right outside and table available right inside. Service was prompt and the place was clean. It’s very obvious the owners are hardworking and keen to please. The breakfast itself was amazing. Hot, tasty and plentiful, providing excellent value for money. In a time when customer service and value is almost non-existent in the UK, this place is a rare Diamond! Thank you.

Yet another terrific evening in the Troff with food provided by White Elephant, drinks in the garden to start then inside for a very relaxing dinner, no rushing here you just need to sit back and enjoy.

What a unique and fabulous place this is! We hired the function room(s) for a post-Christmas, open mic, musical evening and just as on our previous visit, we were presented with the most wonderful hospitality. The whole place has a nice, warm and cosy feel, festooned with artefacts, antiques and bespoke furniture. The low lighting and Christmas decorations also added to the festive mood. It worked perfectly for our get-together with family and friends. The bar has a great choice of ales, most of which you will not find anywhere else close by, which was also a bonus - and very nice they were too!! Mr Grundy's bar also has an open fire which adds further warmth to the room and is visually very attractive. The on-site pizza kitchen was well used during the evening and a very welcome facility, especially for some of the younger members! Our room continued the olde worlde, quirky feel with a very comfy bed and was very clean also. Now for the breakfast......this was everything that you need after a lengthy evening of partying! Beautifully presented, plenty of it and served with a friendly smile. It was ace! I liked the traditional teapots too. Highly recommended and will definitely return.

Great service from the whole team (as usual). The food was wonderful from start to finish - everything was really tasty and perfectly cooked. Amazing views out over the river and weir.

Great food again - chicken wings starter followed by Rib of Beef main - delicious as usual. Great deal on the drinks too using the wine night code. Food and service faultless.

Me and my sister stayed here for 2 nights and had a lovely time,room was beautiful, the lady who ran the place kaz was so friendly she offered to take us round alot of the rooms,each one being stunning,she spent time telling us about the history of the place,and when we asked if we could do a little ghost hunt at night she even set out a table for us with plates so we could have a takeaway x the food was amazing and staff all friendly,,would highly recommend this place 100% thanku for a lovely few day xx

Always a nice place to visit after a circular walk with the pooch. Nice friendly staff as well which always adds to the experience

Food and service good but decor in need of complete make over. Drab, dark in parts and worn,rather depressing

You walk in n somehow you get a sense of nostalgia of how the place would've looked years ago but has a very modern feel & atmosphere to it. Free Jukebox, a good selection of drinks, nice little beer garden, TVs, and the barstaff get on very happily & easy with regulars & 1st timers. Sunday diner, which is served there, is home cooked, almost there n then & arrives hot & very tasty. I walk in with a genuine smile on my face, get my Guinness sit down opposite the conservatory & be myself with the regulars.. good or even silly, fun conversations happen lots of laughter..& leave..eventually.. with a smile on my face. A very, very nice "Boozer" as I would call it..!!

After a lay off from George’s Allestree for around 6 months or more due to cold food I thought I would give it another chance. Never again, food was cold again, so that’s that.

How can the chips be burnt, soggy, greasy, hard and undercooked all at the same time I commend you on what should be an unachievable task what an extremely disappointing meal do not let this shops fancy look trick you worst chips in all my life

Really lovely food, big portions, delivery quick. Ordered through Uber eats. Will defo be going back. Duck dish had loads of meat and was melt in the mouth, tofu was cooked well, and they do chilli oil (massive bonus for me) which was hot and smokey -yum! Thanks

Now home to Dubrek Studios (Hub of Derby Music) which has studio space and rehearsal rooms available for hire. Bar/cafe area is spacious and there is a good range of ales to enjoy.
