Lovely cafe right on the river. Very nice people, extremely reasonable prices, homemade cakes (always the mark of cafe quality in my opinion for the treats to be homemade vs. bought in). Delicious toasties and sausage bacon sub rolls. I really enjoyed the cream tea as well, excellent scones. I anticipate we will go back quite often, and I say this as an avid baker who sells treats and breads quite often herself :)

Beautifully refurbished, local pub at the end of a pretty walk from Glapthorn. Excellent choice of local beer and a wine list from local wine merchants. Small but good lunch and breakfast menu. We had the baked Camembert with a glass of decent red. First time I’ve ever had a Camembert and had too much bread! Can’t recommend this place enough. Use local or lose local!!

We came to Nassington to collect something my wife had bought online and figured, while we were here, we would try it for a late lunch. I went to check if they allowed dogs (we have 2, beagle and shihtsu) and were still serving; as soon as I walked in the door it felt warm and welcoming. There were quite a few folks in but it was genial rather than crowded, and the music was actually background rather than live gig level (a rarity these days, it would seem), so also seeing the cosy fire and the water bowl for dogs made our decision inevitable. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient, and our order was taken quickly for a shared Camembert to start then beef sirloin and pork belly mains which didn't take long to arrive and, when they did, what a treat! Quite the best Sunday dinners we've had in a long time, with top-notch roasties, beautifully done roast carrots & parsnips and a scrumptious cauliflower cheese. For me, if the food is good enough the only accompaniment should be an optional twinkle of salt & pepper and so it was here; all was cooked to perfection with excellent flavour and any additions would have spoiled it. They only had two ales on the pump and one was GK IPA (I never touch it) but luckily they had a fine local Nene Valley Brewery session blonde which went very well with my meal. The doglets settled in very quickly, which is always a good measure of the ambience, so all in all this was a brilliant spur of the moment choice. We will definitely be back and I would heartily recommend it to anyone who likes a traditional local pub with atmosphere and excellent food - well, who doesn't? :)

Outside the wind was roaring…..and inside so was a huge glowing fire! We received a very warm welcome from smiley Maddie. Her knowledge of wines, food service and customer care skills are second to none. The Falcon has recently won a number of competition awards for its culinary skills and creations and our meal this evening was clear evidence of that. The new December menu yet again challenges head chef and patron Zac to find innovative dishes to tempt my palette……and he succeeded! The chicken terrine with black pudding cut in neat small cubes spaced attractively through the centre like black jewels against the white succulent chicken was a treat on a plate. The lightly spiced pumpkin soup was hot, velvety and delicious, accompanied by Zac's fabulous Guinness freshly baked bread. Our main course was Red Beef fillet steak with moist and very tender beef cheeks, they were a delight to taste in themselves. Our rare steaks were perfectly cooked and presented. The Pommes Anna had lovely crispy slices on the outside and provided a superb accompaniment with fine carrots and a rich dark red reduction sauce. Superb! We chose the chocolate and hazelnut délice to finish……and what a delight! It was simply delicious and very 'délice'. The toasted hazelnut nut topping with smoked salt crystals and hazelnut nut oil really demonstrated culinary innovation at its best. This restaurant's high accolades and professional staff speak highly for this first class establishment. We throughly recommend it. Thank you, Falcon Inn. Ps : I’m at a loss to understand why…… a 'review writer' who having only written one review,….. posts such a terribly one! In my humble but expert opinion, it is not a true reflection either. We were staying down the road at the Queens head, walked down the village and popped in here for a drink, what a great friendly little pub, Brian the landlord and his mum Linda, made us very welcome, we felt like part of the local community, we enjoyed so much we went back several times during our 2 night stay, and much preferred it to the Queens head. Thank you Brian and Linda for you hospitality. Julie G Shepperton.
