The best restaurants in High Peak East Midlands

Visited Red Lion yesterday for pub lunch. Was served by staff called- Micheal. Excellent customer service. Pizza was amazing . Lovely sitting at home at the garden.

We live in longnor and it is available for delivery on Uber eats. Ordered our meal . 2 hours later rang to see where it was . They lied and said they tried to deliver but we weren’t here !! BS !! We live in a dead end road ……no one passed in a car . He then said we live too far ….so why do you allow us to order if you don’t want to deliver to longnor ?!!! Absolute disgrace . Do not order from here .

Lovely friendly staff, and welcoming for dogs. Been to this pub a few times of the last 30yrs, also stayed here. Very welcoming. However, on this occassion, with constructed criticism here-The meals on this particular day, at the high cost charged, with poor portions delivered. I ordered fish, chips and peas, and I'm sorry to say this, where was the homemade chips? as I got frozen deep fried, and I left them. There was just a tablespoon of mushy peas on the plate , fish was beautiful. Hubby had the steak pie and he gives it 7/10, as the pastry was hard and minimal gravy and dried out peas. I was going to speak to your member of staff, but, she had several waiting, and some leaving, and she avoided me. Wed, 28th Oct, lunch time. Hope to come here again, and I hope the food will be better next time. Thank you

Very quiet evening in the restaurant probably due to the time I went and the snow was still you’re bad. I asked to sit in the window which I did but it was really cold and I kept my scarf on and my jacket around me the whole time. I ordered the caprese salad which was lovely but it was clear it was straight out of the fridge so was freezing cold to eat would’ve been nicer if it was room temperature then had the pollo pesto which was very nice and a glass of Provence rose which was okay have tasted better. Just before I left another waiter came to see me and asked if I was warm enough I said no absolutely not he brought a fan heater which was very kind but I had already asked for the bill he did put it on but I was really just too cold and wanted to go. Maybe I should’ve asked to be moved earlier, maybe they should’ve been aware of the coldness. Staff was nice but will definitely ask to sit near a heat source if I visit in the winter again.

Was debating whether to post a public review due to the nature i experienced on making one complaint a few years ago - but if being honest in my opinion and experiences helps others - i will post exactly that. Absolutely awful place - used to have standards and character about the food, care and passion in the flavours of their food - not anymore. Food has NEVER been one bit consistent in the last few times I've ordered (and thats not even that regular because its my last resort) Food has no set recipe - and changes every single time - hot and sour soup especially - the ingredients get changed up and mixed about, sometimes containing tofu, sometimes not, sometimes like water, sometimes thicker than slime - its never the same. Chips are also disgusting! Comparable to greasy cold cardboard when they arrive and the salt and pepper chips have rationed flavourings and veg - literally a few skinny sliced onions on top and can barely taste them! The rice is actually pretty decent most the time but can also at times like tonight - be dry, bulky and cold. Ive ordered enough times to know its not just a bad night - but more the fact they have lost their passion and care for the food and just rush it for the money. I wont ever be back here again - not even as a last resort! Even my kids couldn’t eat their tea and complained it was “disgusting” - they are 5 and 6. Not acceptable! Oh and we was overcharged for our order and also had to return because items were missing!!

Great food, great staff, will be back , especially for the full English.

Placed online order and recieved confirmation. After a 3 hour wait rang to find out our order hadnt gone through.

I would give no stars if I could. The food ordered wasn't what I ordered. Tried to contact but phone rings off straight way. Payed through just eat there no support either. Spent half hrs choosing starters two curry's and starter with sides yes was hungry. To be delivered, one curry chips and doc pepper drinks.

My chicken wrap hasnt even seen chicken, when I say I may aswell have given it to my daughter as she is a vegetarian it wouldn't be far off the truth. What a absolute joke shop

The place was freezing as staff and customers alike kept leaving the side door open, 3 times my husband got up and hobbled across the restrant to close it......

New owners. Now a great family friendly and dog friendly local. The toast was excellent. The landlord and landlady are charming

Called for a breakfast and the cafe was dirty items on the floor not swept up tables left covered in dirty plates .when staff brought food out they just returned empty handed and left tables wit used plates previous customers had left . I walked round the cafe twice to find a clean table .whilst my wife ordered .I should of walked out .

For the last 3 to 4 months the food has gone downhill. Todays offering costing over £30 was inedible with most of it going into the bin. Dont know whats changed, chef or owner, but we will not be ordering again.
