The best restaurants in Copford and West Stanway Colchester East of England

Love enny's grill ready to eat ata dindin, goes with so many dishes. I even made jollof rice with it. great home taste to it as well. Totally recommend.

Unfortunately, we had to wait for our food for nearly an hour I ordered a starter and took more than half an hour to serve the atmosphere is amazing but unfortunately the waitress who served us wasn't very friendly I'm a bit disappointed with the waiting time for food and waitress

The selection of meals were fantastic - everything was so tasty but could have used some more spice. The service was also satisfactory - there were tons of people during that time, so it made sense that they were very busy. It was a lovely experience and would definitely recommend and visit again.

Sadly I have to leave a negative review. I had been here before and it had been good so I recommended it for our friends pre-Christmas get together. We booked ages ago, paid £10 deposit each and pre-booked our menu choices several weeks ago too. The starters took over 45 minutes to arrive, the mains took a while after that, leaving those who did not have starters without food for well over an hour. People who seemed to walk in and order next to us had their starters and mains well before we did. The food was ok, but the vegetables were just luke warm. The veggie choice had two brussel sprouts with it as well as a very small portion of what looked like shredded cabbage but tasted of fennel and a few tiny dots of beetroot. One friend had a starter of mackerel pate on what she described as an untoasted crumpet. They didn't have "the right cream" for an Irish coffee. It was quite embarrassing as we had recommended it. All in all not good this time round.

The waitress/bar staff was very friendly; atmosphere cosy and food was delicious. My daughter doesn’t usually eat desserts but was tempted by the trifle baked alaska and throughly enjoyed it too. I would have liked a slightly larger portion of mash potatoes with my steak and ale pie and slightly more onion rings with the steaks and burgers. 2 onion rings is not really much at all. Even 3 would have been a lot better.

When I booked our table month ago it categorically did not say set menu only for New Year’s Eve, this was obviously added later after our booking and had no notification of the change, we got there to be told it’s set menu only and I am vegetarian my husband is not, there was no accommodation at all for this we had to eat the same menu or leave , we had to leave the restaurant with our 18 month old baby it was awful. Never been treated like that before.

Guy who served us today was so good, running around clearing tables, serving and being ever so helpful. Makes such a difference coming in and having a friendly server

Had a family meal for my granddaughter's birthday and the food was excellent, our waitress was lovely and the whole atmosphere was brilliant.

Very quick delivery and very tasty food

We were ordering an ice drink from them but instead of saying we don't have ice the woman was very rude in a lower case saying we don't have that. Didn't feel welcomed at all, I know it was new years eve and they probably wanted to be somewhere else but you shouldn't show it.

Possibly the worst café on the planet, maybe even this galaxy, drinks that never arrived, food that took so long to arrive that I saw young boys grow into long trousers and staff that make it so obvious that they do not want to be there I’m surprised they don’t put up as sign advertising that customers will seriously inconvenience them. If you are expecting service, courtesy and food, do not go to the Sainsbury’s café at Tollgate.

Had to sit out in the freezing marquee area as dogs are no longer welcome inside. Whilst there is a cart with treats and a water bowl in there, it was just too cold, particularly as the service in the cafe was so slow. I did get an apology for the length of time it took for the hot drinks to be made, but despite pointing out how cold it was in the dog friendly area, no solution was offered until another customer complained to a different member of staff, who said she'd put the heating on!!
