The best restaurants in Hertsmere East of England

What an absolute gem of a restaurant. Amazing food, lovely ambiance, and wonderful staff. Our new local favourite. Highly recommended.

My first reaction on entering Paolo's is that it looked like a diner with quite cramped booths down one side of the restaurant. On a cold winter's evening it was quite cold inside the restaurant. The menu is quite varied, including fish, pizza and pasta. My wife had soup which was good but, given the price, we would have expected it to be served with some bread. I started with bruschetta which was also good but again, given the price, I would have expected more than the 3 small pieces I received. For main course my wife had ravioli which was very tasty but quite a small portion. I had sea bass which was excellent, nicely presented, tasty and a good sized portion. One of our friends had pizza which had very thick crusts - more of an American pizza than an Italian one. Service was good. Prices were high given the modest size of the portions of some of the dishes.

The is a locals pub with a friendly atmosphere that extended to visitors like me. A lovely pub setting good food. The house beer "Black Horse" was served to perfection

First things first - calling it a 'Sandwich Bar' is like calling the Hilton Hotel a cafe. This delightful place is a restaurant with an extensive menu. There's nothing routine about the menu - lots of unusual dishes - so you are spoiled for choice. The food itself is excellent, very reasonably priced and always fresh and tasty. The staff are really friendly and there's a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended.

The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The staff were so kind when our daughter dropped her hot chocolate - they gave us another one for free and made sure it was cool enough for her to drink. Thank you. We loved the outdoor seating area. So cosy.

Excellent food, lovely efficient service, comfortable surroundings . I recommend Montys bar and restaurant. Extensive menu for all tastes and a well stocked bar.

Nice clean restaurant with a variety of food options. Kid named Alin took my order and was I was very impressed by the quality of the service.

Why haven’t I heard of this place before? Honestly, the best cup of coffee I've had in years. Amazing place. You can really tell the owners are passionate about delivering a super high standard offer. Blows the chains out of the water! Well done guys.

A wonderful afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings, lovely traditional tearoom and excellent service . Couldn’t fault it . Can’t wait to return.

This cafe has got it right in every way -friendly staff, quick service, generous portions cooked really well, great prices, clean and simple decor. Please support this local business and enjoy a good meal. The smoothies/milkshakes are yummy if you fancy a treat.

Excellent service and very good value for money,prompt delivery service.I have eaten on couple of occasions lamb and chicken wrap with salad, very generous portions.

Best wraps and pittas in Darkes lane. Been here a few times, sometimes for a Giro, sometimes a cake, sometimes just coffee. Definitely the best in Darkes lane even if just for a coffee and best value for money. The staff are so friendly and extremely helpful. Can’t recommend highly enough.

It’s a kebab place with traditional Turkish staff and really good Turkish food. Big portions and v fresh salad. I never complain and use it as I hardly cook when I have to stay here.
