Both pizzas and garlic bread was swimming in grease and all 3 were burnt on the bottom. ordered a lot from you’s a while back but soon stopped as every pizza you’s sent out was burnt, changed location so I thought I’ll give it another go… only for it to be the exact same🙃wouldn’t recommend

We went into Downey’s intending to get some tea as a group of friends. We were very surprised that none of the staff even acknowledged us entering and left us standing wondering what the situation was. By the end we decided to attempt to sit down to which we were just told the restaurant wasn’t open - this is fair enough and we may have given our business for a takeout order had the staff been more pleasant and not made it obvious they were trying to ignore us as much as possible. Due to the unwelcoming atmosphere and being made to feel like a nuisance for simply entering the shop we decided to take our business elsewhere. Won’t be returning.

I am a regular customer at Costa Coffee whenever I am out and about, but this is one of the lesser Costa Coffee shops, the interior was shabby and tired inside, paint work required attention, interior seats grubby, floor unclean, the whole appearance was not up to Costa Coffees usual high standards.

I am sad to leave this review as I have always found the staff at this takeaway very lovely welcoming people but I’m afraid I am very upset over an issue I have had tonight. I asked if I could have plain rice noodles with mushroom and nothing else. This was repeated back to me so I believed I had been understood. When my meal was made the server (manager?) informed me that they added egg for flavour even though I had not asked for this. I do not eat egg as it makes me sick. I explained politely that I do not eat egg and he apologised and said he would remake it. I must admit I should have known by how fast my meal was remade that something wasn’t right but I presumed I had been understood and due to their own mistake, my meal would be remade fresh. When I got home I began to eat my meal and all seemed fine at first until I noticed an odd taste and to my horror found small bits of egg still in my food. I am unsure wether they simply picked the egg off the original meal and repackaged it or cooked it in the same pan without cleaning out the egg first but unfortunately it has lead to me being sick and I will likely be unwell for the next couple of days. Again I am very sad to leave this review as the owners and staff are very lovely people and I often have a bag of chips from here but knowing that adding ingredients that weren’t specified then doing a poor job of making sure the replacement also didn’t include this ingredient is very dangerous. Thankfully my own health issues with eggs aren’t life threatening, just very unpleasant but it could be fatal if this happens to someone with a serious allergy so I had to bring it to your attention

We recently visited Lickety Split Creamery & Juice Bar in Seaham with our children and had an absolutely wonderful time. From the moment we walked in, the staff stood out as incredibly friendly, courteous, and patient. They went above and beyond to make the experience special for our kids, helping them choose just the right combinations for their waffles and ice cream. Their genuine and helpful advice ensured we ordered exactly what suited our tastes, which truly enhanced the visit. The Food The quality of the food was excellent. The kids loved their waffles with ice cream, and the vanilla ice cream in particular was outstanding—rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Huge amount of choice in the sweet menu as you might expect, with some ice cream recipes I'd never seen before (and I've seen them all!) less so if you're after something savoury - that said, my wife’s hot dog was fantastic, with a sausage that was among the best we’ve ever had. It was well-cooked and came with tasty chips, two delicious onion rings, and a fresh garnish of rocket and tomato. Drinks The hot chocolate was another highlight—served with a delightful little cone of ice cream instead of the usual biscuit. This thoughtful touch elevated the experience and added to the charm of the visit. Even the soft drinks served in glass bottles, especially the diet coke, tasted superior to their canned counterparts. Ambience The shop itself was spotless, especially given how busy it is, which is always reassuring in a food establishment. The American diner / soda house aesthetic is very authentically done and genuinely adds to the experience. Couple of minor issues were the slightly narrow layout, which can make queueing a bit tricky and a little wear and tear hiding in a couple of places. Arguably it's a part of the charm and overall we’d rather see the prices kept in check than have significant changes, so it’s a fair trade-off. Overall Impression Lickety Split Creamery & Juice Bar is a unique gem in Seaham that adds so much character and charm to the area. It’s a fantastic, family-friendly spot that’s as much about the warm, welcoming atmosphere as it is about the high-quality food and drinks. It’s clear that this is a real asset to the community, and it would be sorely missed if it ever changed hands. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out on this exceptional little spot. Whether it’s for a sweet treat, a quick bite, or simply a place to relax with the family, Lickety Split is sure to impress.

Hi I'm a regular at the Black Truffle in Seaham... I pop in with friends for coffee and sometimes a nice cake or 2 .... the staff are great... very friendly and always have a smile on their faces. The food is 2nd to none and fairly priced and would recommend a visit. You can also get your drinks to go...
