The best restaurants in County Durham North East

Seems a popular place. Staff were rushed but friendly. Made a good fried breakfast for just under a tenner. Also catered for my son's wish to have chilli-con-carne in the morning. Worth noting the coffee was great too. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone in that vicinity wanting a good meal or a hot drink.

Rang 5 times to book a table but just goes to voicemail asking to leave a message and someone will get back to you but nobody did. Don't know how people make reservations.

Just had the most amazing food at this gorgeous tea room- cannot recommend highly enough - a total gem with very friendly staff - nothing too much trouble. A must to visit!

Simply put the best fish & chips I’ve had in my almost 60 years. Perhaps it’s down to the unique coal fired fryers of the dripping it’s cooked in but 10/10 .

No warm welcome, no friendly hello. “Hello there, we’ve booked a table”, I said. “Wait a minute I’ve only just got in”! Coldest day of the year in winter, no fire lit and dirty hearth. “Might the fire be lit?” “I don’t know - maybe later when we get round to it”. Literally nobody else in, not surprisingly. Used to be busy and such a cosy pub with the friendly welcome you expect from a country pub. “May I see the menu please?” “In a minute.” “Can I order please?” “What do you want?” ”Wait a minute” was snapped at me. One vegetarian meal on the whole menu including starters. Used to be such a nice friendly pub but now part of a chain and ruined by current general manager. Sadly won’t be returning.

Food was lovely,you get quite a bit of food and staff members were very nice and polite,would recommend going for Sunday lunch.

Used to love the Bolognese pizzas from here ordered tonight disappointed with the food had high expectations aswel can’t taste the bolegnese more like tomato waste of money Parmesan’s like a thin and burgers not that great the parmesans not great but it’s the best of a bad bunch

As my girlfrend and I walked in we were a bit surprised that the lady didn’t look up / acknowledge us or say hello or even ‘please wait I’ll be with you shortly’ etc. I thought she must be busy so didn’t think too much of it. We waited a few minutes until the people in front of us got their order and left. By this point we were at the front of the counter and another lady worker walked in, again, didn’t say hello or acknowledge us. We both thought this was very weird and quite rude. Not even acknowledging our presence never mind saying anything. We waited another few minutes. I was trying to make eye contact with the ladies as if saying “helloooo we are here we exist!” but they didn’t even look up from what they were doing and when they did they looked past us. After 5 minutes we both thought that if the staff can’t even be at the least courteous what’s the rest of the establishment going to be like. We walked out and went to the next coffee shop and got immediately sorted there.

This is my favourite place for brunch in Durham. Latte is perfect, service is quick and the cheese and onion toasties are just delicious. Prices are really reasonable. Range of toasties, paninis and cakes. Woukd definitely recommend.

Absolutely loverly - fantastic place, friendly family owned and run & it shows. Cakes, coffees, baked goods and much more. If you are ever near to Wolsingham then don’t hesitate to drop by, you won’t be disappointed.

Primer pedido, eglefino y patatas fritas por favor (no es inusual para un lugar así) y dijo que no quedaba eglefino, agotado! Oh. Pedido bacalao, había varias otras buenas opciones en el menú. Una oferta es ensalada, papas fritas, o mitad y mitad. Oh, cielos, ensalada agotada. No importa. Todas las comidas llegaron a tiempo, todo fue muy bueno. Salsa tártara casera excelente, pero podría haber sido más generosa.

Don't eat here very often, but it's very acceptable.

Went for Sunday lunch superb value for money for a thee course meal, both the beef and belly pork was excellent and the home made cheesecake’s are really good

Staff were really friendly and helpful along with my full English breakfast being beautiful and more than enough food along with large drinks.
