The best restaurants in Whitley Bay North Tyneside North East

Stumbled upon this amazing place on a Monday evening - what a find! Forget the tourist traps on the front - this is the real deal! So much choice and you can choose to have fish battered, crumbed or grilled. So friendly and the woman who served us started working there over 50 years ago as now owns it. Just fabulous. Don’t hesitate - you won’t be disappointed! Thank you.

Love this place. Food is always beautiful. Pretty small so doesn't get over crowded

it was a very early delivery, asked for asap but always given the 1 hour slot. They always seen to get our order out quickly which is great. The fish was delicious, white and chunky! Chips and mushy peas were lovely. Overall a wonderful meal.

Returned 1 year later and it was poor food.

Great venue for performances. Lots of parking. The only hassle is its too far from my house and I need to take SLEX to get here. Food is too expensive. Pricey but small portions only.

Monday night visit. Very few other places offering food in Whitley Bay on a Monday. Fab meat platter and delicious wine.

Food was nice but don't use their family ran taxi service as they will take your eyes out. £18 for a 5.5 mile trip at 6.15 pm. No meter in the taxi either.

Fabulous welcome and service. Food was amazing thanks so much. Will be back We had the small Cod and chips and d a regular cod and chips, mushy peas and bread and butter. Decaf tea and nice coffee.

I went to this restaurant last night on Tuesday 21 January 2025 I can honestly say the food and service was amazing. Served by Stacey and another person. Pleased with the food and service.

I feel really disappointed that I’ve had to give a bad mark, as normally this place is very good. I went with the family on New Year’s Day and as always the staff were friendly and showed us to a table upstairs. We ordered x3 lots of the banana pancakes with Nutella and a round of drinks. After being asked to repeat myself several times I was suspicious I may not get what I ordered. When the wrong order came (without the bananas and the wrong drink Order) I politely challenged it I was told quite matter of factly ‘that’s what was on the chitty,, sorry about that but nothing I can do now’. She then disappeared super quick and with 2 very young children in tow wasn’t really in a position to do much about It. The service and quality is normally good in this place and mistakes obviously happen, but I get very frustrated with people not listening or rudeness and in this instance they failed on the basics and didn’t try and fix the mistake, simply laying any blame in my direction. I will go back and hopefully I can give them a good mark after (I hope) a much Improved experience.

I’ve loved Bangladeshi food for most of my life. I grew up on it, I’ve tried so many places and never had such a consistent and wonderful experience as I have going to Ahar. Fiz the owner is a superb host and the restaurant is a warm and welcoming place, for solo visits or with friends and family. I’ve never had a meal that wasn’t brilliant here but tonight I think I reached Valhalla. The lamb mustard bhuna might just be the best curry I’ve ever eaten. The difference with Ahar is in the details. Authentic food, real charcoal tandoor oven and the best ingredients. Why are you wasting your time going anywhere else, this should be your only port of call.

Attractive restaurant with polite & helpful staff. Food is excellent and specifically cooked to our request. Have been going there for years and am never disappointed.

fantastic view food very dissappointing, seafood soup couldnt find seafood, roast beef very poor, thinly cut, veg luke warm. staff hovered and took plate before finished.It was my 40th wedding anniversay thought it would be good very dissappointed.

Lovely lunch, very reasonably priced, very close to the beach. Staff were all great. Big portions too

Now had a few takeouts from this place and have enjoyed every single morsel of the food. Haven't had anything savoury, the cakes/slices/flapjacks are wonderful and to top it all decent coffee. This is a hidden gem definitely my go to place when in Whitley Bay.
