The best restaurants in Ravenmeols Sefton North West

Lovely pub, staff nice - worst food i have ever attempted to eat. Prices seem reasonable, but you get what you pay for. The lasagne at a guess was a microwaveable one nuked - almost tasted dirty. Bangers and mash - mash was dry and funny taste, possibly packet mash - couldn’t be fresh. I am assuming there is not a trained chef, and at beat a big microwave. Other couple on our table picked chicken skewers, only 2 for £7.50 (at full price) and not fresh. Mushrooms in what looked like a thin soggy garlic bread. Even the burger was unpleasant - but friend was hungry and ate. Very disappointing from a pub that has been around for years. I was visiting from New Zealand and wanted to go despite my friends suggesting it may not be great. I did let the bar staff know worst lasagne ever - i literally only ate 2 mouthfuls. No offer to refund or replace, although he did apologize.

Overall it's too expensive and quality isn't anywhere near as good as local individually owned competitors. Food over priced and standard quality. Better quality food in IKEA and less than half the price. Service was good. Professional and friendly. Atmosphere is the same as any chin coffee shop. People taking laptops and pretending to be in meetings.

This used to be a good bar but is now just a high priced dog compound. 9 dogs in this very small bar. Wouldn't order food given the smell of dogs and lack of washing of hands by bar staff after feeding treats to the dog. Don't bother, there are better alternatives in Formby.

I BOOKED ONLINE - GOT THERE AND WERE TOLD IT HAD SHUT DOWN. CANNOT SAY ANYMORE OTHER THAN THE LACK OF REVIEWS SHOULD HAVE ALERTED ME TO A PROBLEM

My husband and I visited today and got a footlong chicken and bacon sub with tiger bread. This has to be the best sub I have ever tasted. This was made by Callam who was a lovely member of staff. So friendly and professional. We had a latte and husband had a tea. His colleague Tika was very pleasant too. A lovely little team who worked together well.

We have just left the Formby Hall resort, and it wasn’t the best by a long shot. Initially I booked this for an anniversary spa break - but this quickly turned into chaos. There isn’t mush relaxing about the spa, the pool was filled with teens throwing eachother around in the pool. One of the steam rooms didn’t work so was just a room… we did upgrade and had a lovely full body massages by Michelle and Fiona. We then left the spa and headed to our room which was a loft room as again I upgraded. The room was damp, and the shower or sink didn’t work. After 2 attempts at showering to get ready for dinner we gave up. There was no phone in the room to report to reception and we both had no phone signal. When reported to reception they said “oh the plumbers been out today I’ll get him to check it again”. We booked in for dinner in the Fairway Restaurant we sat down at 7.30pm, and didn’t receive our main course till 9.15pm. Yes it was busy however should food not be received on a first come first serve basis?? Then a very loud obnoxious man swearing and raising his voice at the waitresses wasn’t ideal. Made things very awkward. From 4am onwards there was a banging outside our window. So if your a light sleeper, take some ear plugs. Breakfast was ok, but in all honesty it’s the first and last time we will book Formby Hall

Came here for my 30th birthday as we were staying in the hotel. Food was excellent - Sticky Toffee Pudding was the best I’ve ever had! But the real star was out waiter Liam! He couldn’t have done any more for us if he tried, great asset to the team! Can’t wait to return! :)

Called in for Fish chips and curry. Fish was absolutely tasteless and the batter overcooked, chips were fairly tasteless and very soggy, no crispness whatsoever but worst of all was the curry sauce, it was really weird tasting, like no other curry I have ever eaten and slightly “floral” with a hint of Parma violets! The curry all went in the bin as did most of the rest! I’ll have cheese on toast for supper later.

I ordered the bottomless coffee and scalded my legs.

Often come here to grab a coffee and study. Staff are absolutely lovely and the coffee is great. Almond croissants are incredible!

On a recent visit to Liverpool for the footy we visited our favourite Indian restaurant which has always been really good, unfortunately this was not the case last Saturday as we experienced, very hefty price increases and the food definitely had gone down hill. The chicken curry tasted like cooked bits of chicken had just been placed in a curry sauce, the Chana masala was like chick peas in tomato sauce, no thick tasty gravy and by mistake I was brought a prawn puri (which was taken off the bill) but the flavour was not good. I know restaurants have been affected by Covid etc but come on guys, if you double the prices and reduce the quality nobody will want to go there. I am hoping this is constructive criticism for what was a very good venue and restaurant, to improve certain areas.
