The best restaurants in Brighton and Hove South East

A bit of a lacklustre experience after expecting great things. The main problem was that the eggs were teeny tiny and a very aneamic pale lemon colour....not the sign of a good quality egg at all.I asked where they sourced their eggs and the response was that they were currently using a different company and that the chef knew they were not up to standard! It was hoped that if we came again they'd be back to better quality. The tables were sticky as if not really cleaned that well and the coffee a bit on the bitter side. I felt the staff overall were great...if perhaps a little keen to hetbthe bill to us....it didn't feel like we'd stick around over another coffee and leisurely do the Sunday crossword as we planned. Overall with tip, £47 for an eggs benedict and full English breakfast with a couple of teas/coffees. Sadly over rated for the price.Loos lacking a workable hand drier when we went.

Solía usar Pelicanos regularmente cuando abrió por primera vez - hace algunos años. Visité ayer por primera vez en años. Pedí azúcar cuando llegaron nuestras bebidas y me dijeron "aw mate el azúcar está abajo", así que me fui abajo para encontrar un poco de azúcar. Vel tiene el galardón de ofrecerme uno de los currys más sabrosos que he probado: el tiffin sambar. Cuando se combinaba con arroz con limón, esto era una sensación de sabor. También es recomendable el gobi manchurian, uno de mis platos favoritos; pero, de nuevo, Vel definitivamente tiene la mejor iteración de ese plato. Hay muchas opciones, y si he tenido un pequeño comentario, es que el menú puede ser abrumador, ya que no hay descripciones para cada plato para describir lo que está recibiendo. PERO eso también te anima a hablar con el encantador personal sobre tus gustos, y lo que cada plato ofrece en términos de perfil de sabor. No solo eso, sino que es una ganga. Hazte un favor y visita a Vel para una comida increíblemente sabrosa.

¡No te dejes engañar por el exterior de esta joya! Tuvimos las MEJORES tortitas fuera de la calle de EE.UU. el fin de semana. Estaba ocupado, pero encontramos una mesa. Vale la pena desafiar a la ciudad el fin de semana. Las tortitas eran enormes, esponjosas y sabrosas. Las porciones de huevo revuelto y compota de arándanos eran de muy buen tamaño. Redondeamos el brunch con un batido de fresa que estaba delicioso. Recomiendo encarecidamente como un placer.

I popped in for their grand reopening event following extensive refurbishment. A really warm welcome for well behaved people and their dogs! I had a nice pint of Budvar and, on this occasion, a free hog roast bun. I have passed the PBT many times but before now gave it a miss. Hope to go back soon and wish the landlady/landlord the very best of luck.

Haven’t been to these guys for years since they were based in Hove. Just found out that they now operate from a new venue. Absolutely awesome burgers did not fail to satisfy so glad we found you again. Yummers!!

Pedí un tostado de jamón y masa madre de queso, ya que dicen que sirven las mejores tostadas en Brighton con un cartel de respaldo de cómo era el sándwich (rezumando con queso y jamón, encurtidos, etc. apenas puede contener el pan). Lo que conseguí fue un sándwich plano con una fina capa de relleno, aunque el pan tostado de masa madre estaba bueno al menos. El café con leche de avena que tomé era tibio. Creo que se están durmiendo en los laureles de sus (en su mayoría) buenas críticas y se han puesto un poco complacientes.

We only popped in here for a quick cup of tea and added a couple of sausage rolls to go with them this morning. A friendly cafe, clean and very good pricing.

What a delightful Friday afternoon treat! I popped in for a coffee, and stayed for the pancakes. Wonderful vibe, fabulous staff, excellent coffee and food! I will definitely be making this a regular haunt. Extra: a number of dishes can be made plant-based and/or gluten-free!

Really good food, coffee and juice, just the right size portions for a much needed brunch after a big night out. It took a while as they were very busy but the staff let us know and we weren’t in a rush. It is a little bit pricey but also good value for the quality and quantity. So not an everyday breakfast joint but nice for a treaty brunch. One smoked salmon and scrambled egg and one avocado and cheese rarebit with bacon. Both well cooked (little bit of charring on the cheese toast but not an issue for me). We’d definitely go again if hungry and in the area.

I walked past this place on the way to do my washing. The door was open, so having heard good things about it, I thought I would come back for my breakfast. I came back at three minutes to nine, the door was still open, I was told that they didn't open till nine and I should come back later. So, as there were a number of alternatives in the street I went elsewhere.

Cute little tea room! Had a delightful cream tea! And the lady working here is lovely! Will come here again next time I’m in town!

10/10 on all fronts, would highly recommend to friends. They have been absolutely brilliant tonight. Uber eats had been an absolute let down with getting our food to us, and upon contacting the restaurant directly and explaining the situation, they remade all of our food to make sure it was hot and fresh. They also gave us some goodies to apologize for the delay, even though it wasn’t their fault. They waited for us after close to get the food, as there had been a miscommunication with Uber eats about the food collection. The food itself is 10/10, great value for money, with big portions and I would highly recommend to everybody to order from them. This has been incredible service to recover what would have been a disappointing evening!
