The best and most affordable food place to dine at for breakfast and lunch. My group visit for breakfast which is filling and delicious, I had the 'make your own' breakfast. Lovely service, cool placemats displaying history of Isle of Wight, perfect for tourists and locals.

We stopped off to get some chips and a batterd sausage and fish cake on a Saturday lunchtime after a walk on the nearby beach. The lady was lovely and our food was delicious and very well priced. The sausage was one of the best it was absolutely delicious we will be back again.

I live 8 minutes away, just for context. I picked up our order of chips, curry sauce, mushy peas and a battered sausages and plated up. Sheesh. The chips were cold. Not warm. Cold. Somehow the curry sauce was colder, and topped with a congealed jelly topping. The peas were steaming hot, but a large peas was literally two table spoons of peas. Pathetic. The battered sausage was cold but fine. Overall very disappointed with the whole order and didn't finish, the worst part was the cold curry sauce which I had slopped out onto my chips, unaware it was chilly. Gutted.

The food tasted brilliant. The staff were very kind and helpful. The chips are thick steak style which may not be for some people but were delicious, onion rings are large and fresh. Seafood trio was fresh and flavourful. However I would say there was an unpleasant smell when we walked in and were sitting down.

Unreal food as always. Family-ran restaurant that I have been visiting since I was six years old! We always talk about The Black Cat as being the best Thai restaurant we have ever been to and say that all other Thai food pales in comparison. Finally back on the Island this week and immediately booked into the Black Cat. We were not disappointed. Lovely, warm ambience, just as we remember, and stand out food and flavour. If you are thinking of coming, you will not regret a visit. Dreaming of the next time we can come back!

With all the amazing reviews I had seen I thought we were in for a treat, how wrong was I, £50 (+ the extra £5 for delivery they randomly texted across 30 mins before food was due to arrive) and most of it went in the bin Underwhelming and basic, the roast potatoes arrived underdone, I had to put them in the air fryer for 20mins, tiny portions, flavourless cauliflower cheese, 3 tiny soggy parsnips, watery gravy, honestly for the price point I expected to be blown away but it was probably the worst roast I've had in a long time. Maybe the restaurant is better but I would definitely not recommend a Sunday roast 😭

Lovely hidden gem under new management. We were mesmerised by the railway memorabilia and enjoyed a lovely Sea Fury real ale. Dart board and pool table. Great chat with the landlady. Wish them all the best :) Deserving of more custom - use it or lose it Newport!
