The best restaurants in Abbey Reading South East

HUGE thank you to the lovely manager & staff! We had a leaving dinner for a colleague and everyone had an absolutely lovely time and loved the food. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciated the manager taking the time and being available/accommodating with all my questions and changes etc. Banh Mi is my favourite restaurant in Reading, the food is gorgeous, portion size generous and staff lovely! 💛 Highly recommend.

Delicious food, I had Oxtail with rice and pea. Lots and lots on the menu that looked amazing. Will be back when I'm next back with work. Thanks for the lovely food and the full belly

Food was absolutely amazing but they takes too long time to serve.

Food was nice but service was lacking. We were seated at the table but when it came to paying the server just handed us the card machine and let us pay and split the bill between us. Since when do I need to learn how to operate a card machine that is not even mine to pay my bill? Could the server not help with this and actually hold and operate their own card machine? Was going well until that point when we had to pay for our meals but the person dealing with us didn't seem to care at all after he gave us the food. Was quiet too so dont understand.

Booked for lunch on a Saturday meeting a friend, neither of us are local so went for somewhere with good reviews close to the station. It’s on a road with nothing else apart from offices easily found from the station and opens up when you go downstairs into a spacious and welcoming basement, lovely little bar area too. Waiter was attentive without being intrusive. We had starters and mains, absolutely delicious and well presented. Highly recommend.

Used to be good for live music, reasonably priced beer and a very enjoyable night. Now, £7 pint of mediocre larger, no discernible music an appalling toilets

Fantastic menu, food and service

An absolutely fantastic best dining experience, quality of service and food melting in the mouth, it deserves a proper recognition from critics. And great view where we were sitting upstairs as well, impeccable manners of the personnel, brilliant choice of wine. Highly recommend, just keep in mind great service comes with deserved price, but absolutely worth it. Thank you!

A lovely local gastro pub alongside the Kennett & Avon Canal. Great atmosphere with local musicians and good food.

Fantastic place, I had a terrific birthday dinner here with my partner. Great spiral cut ribeye, cooked perfectly. Look forward to visiting again!

The service was OK but nothing more. At £70/head it seemed over priced even for a Christmas meal. I ate from the fixed price menu @ £33:95, the starter was nice but a little small. The main of turkey with trimmings was nice. The desert was awful, supermarket meringue barely crushed with mandarin segments and a drizzle of cream. I was surprised to be asked to order all my courses at the beginning. My friend ate of the main menu and was asked about dessert after the mains. We both had coffee and hi chosen dessert arrived with our coffee. I was asked if I was having dessert, when I explained I had already ordered it they hurriedly went and found it? We asked for the bill twice? I wouldn’t mind but our table overlooked the serving station and the waiting staff were not overly busy or attentive? Probably look at an alternative another time.

We ended up trying ThaiGrr on a weekend evening as the other Thai restaurants were too busy and crowded. Nice and relaxed atmosphere with lovely service. Food was tasty, very reasonable prices and the menu had new options we haven't tried. Aunty Nita was so welcoming and friendly, she was very helpful with recommendations and we had a nice conversation. The fried chicken was very crispy! We ended up staying till close and Nita was very kind to accommodate us. It would be a bonus if there were comfier seating, but would enjoy coming back here again to try the mango stick rice and other dishes!
