We loved our afternoon here! My friend and I walked from the next town along to Brixham whilst I visited from Sheffield. We both had waffles with all the toppings and they were SO yummy. Amazing decor, super friendly staff and very reasonably priced for what you get. Highly recommend!

Ordered takeaway pizza. The cheese and tomato was nice and so was the one I ordered other than ready grated cheese which was presumably added once the pizza had gone cold. We live fairly close to North Street and were surprised when the pizza and garlic bread arrived and was cold. Not even warm! Heated it up in the microwave which did the sourdough no favours. The pizzas were as tough as old boots. Presumably it is better to eat in. Wouldn’t order as a takeaway again.

We did not receive the food we had ordered. They served us kebab instead of chicken, even though they offered to change it. However, we were in a hurry and could not wait another 30 minutes. The rice was also not good. This was not the Persian food we were expecting. At least the server could have been Persian and understood Iranian food.

We have hired the skittle alley on multiple occasions for large family gatherings. However, on this occasion, it was disappointing. We pay extra for this area due to having a group of 24, including 10 children and not wishing to bother other patrons with the noise that naturally comes from a group of this size. However we were met with immediate feelings of inconvenience on this occasion. After discussion, we were told that the skittle alley is now an 'extension of the pub' (in which case we don't know why we've paid extra for this area) and Children are expected to sit down at all times. Again, not sure what the purpose of the function room is if we cannot hold functions there. The landlord spoke to me and seemed to suggest we were not supervising our children properly. Furthermore, we did not have enough seating, and despite pre ordering food for our booking at 1pm, food did not arrive until 2.15. I would reconsider if coming here with children (my 3 year old twins are not keen on sitting still for 2 hours!)

Second division for me. Admittedly I may have encountered a fixed menu that didn't suit, but a great many other drawbacks made this an expensive mediocre event. My last Michelin star outing had been to Bruton's amazing Osip restaurant, so perhaps my expectations were set too high. Each dish was explained in what sounded like a shouting match against the cacophony of the restaurant's background noise. Even the youngsters amongst us struggled with the hardest seating in town and I didn't feel the waiting staff had their hearts truly in it. Yes, of course, the Christmas period may well have been taking it's inevitable toll. The soup starters, both mainstream and vegan, were superb but I prefer my highlights further down the menu. No recommendation from me I'm afraid but maybe booking well away from the holiday period can offer redemption.

This is a genuine hidden gem! Not many tourist people use to walk throughout this side of the river, so it's not a crowded place to have a drink. Inside is a classic pub, outside (in summertime) you could have a seat on the benches beside the street.
