Excellent decor, great atmosphere and delicious cake. Something the area has been crying out for, we were so impressed with the vibe and would recommend it to anyone who wants to visit somewhere with a lot of character and also very trendy.

I’m delighted to say that I’ll be photographing weddings at the beautiful Rockbeare Manor in 2025 and 2026. This venue has long been on my list of dream locations to work at, and it’s easy to see why. With its elegant interiors, beautifully landscaped grounds, and unique features, it promises to provide a magical setting for any wedding. Having read so many glowing reviews about the attentive staff and the impeccable service they offer, I’m confident that my couples have chosen the perfect place for their big day. I’m counting down the days until I can capture their love stories at Rockbeare Manor and create lasting memories in such an extraordinary setting. Best regards, James Clarke (Just James Wedding Photography).

Gutted! We came here for our 13th anniversary and expected more for £45 per head. The service was okay, a bit slow considering it wasn't busy, around 5 tables. Food took about 45 minutes from order to table. The atmosphere was meh, with gravy splashed on the wall from a previous diner, and it was a bit plain Jane overall. The waitresses were pleasant. The meat was good, Duck and Steak were nice. The duck was very good, nice, and pink; despite ordering medium-rare, the steak was closer to medium and lacked the juiciness and bloodiness expected from a properly cooked medium-rare cut. The veg was over seasoned and inedible (too much salt), chips were too salty (way more salt than Mcdonalds and fast food restaurants), and the fondant potato (1 small one) was a bit hard in the middle. We heard good things about it, so we thought we would try it. We told the staff on three occasions that it was over seasoned and too salty, but they didn't offer any new vegetables, etc., which is fine as I know people like to make a fuss to get a discount and free food but we left about half. We thought paying more for a meal would result in a better meal, but unfortunately, not. We would rather pay half the price and get a similar meal from the pub down the road. Gutted more for the restaurant than anything else. I have worked in several places where the chefs over season food and blame it on the customers, which they probably will in this case, unfortunately. If food is cooked properly there shouldn't be much need for salt, only a small amount to bring out the flavour. Unfortunately, we won't be back and can't recommend it because of the prices and salty food. We are more on the fussy side of things, as we cook a lot at home and know good food when we eat out, so that is a factor to consider. For the average person, it is probably okay, but the prices are on the higher side for what you receive.

We’ve been a couple of times for a drink and something to eat from one of the food trucks (they are not doing food from the kitchen yet!) pub looks great - everyone super friendly - what’s not to like !! Looking forward to seeing what food trucks popping up in September !! Hilary and Chris

This is a cracking pub. All you need for a locals drinking pub, plus good food. The staff were lovely and it was all decorated up for Christmas beautifully. We had eaten dinner there a couple of weeks before Christmas, good food at a reasonable cost, great portions and very much value for money. The pub is warm, welcoming and has a cozy atmosphere. We booked there to do our Dads wake and they went above and beyond to make sure that it was all lovely for us, again, great food and great value. I highly recommend the New Inn and the lovely helpful staff and owners. Thank you!

Booked a table for a large group for my birthday. I must have driven Clare mad by constantly having to change the numbers of guests! But she was calm and helpful. So 18 of us gathered on a soggy January Sunday and we ALL agreed that we had the BEST time. A great welcome, lovely tables, great well-kept local ales (Hanlon’s Firefly - yay!) and wines. Between us we had the beef, pork, chicken, nut roast and scampi and every meal was delicious. The portions are very generous and there were plenty of perfectly cooked vegetables. Service was calm and efficient. We didn’t have dessert as we had birthday cake but we’ll definitely be back soon and try them out. Highly recommended.

Pre-booked a table (recommended as can get very busy)for 5 family members and was greeted by a very nice young lady who showed us to our seats and from the get go we had terrific table service, The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, Separate bar area to the restaurant part and a corner for the younger family members to play games, puzzles etc, Proper log fire with chesterfield seats to make a small little quiet Nook, On to the menu now, We did think the menu was minimal but I think this is down to new owners just starting out and feeling their feet at what customers like !? We enquired about the pie of the day and was told it was lamb with mash or pastry the waitress didn't know which? Myself I ordered the monkfish tail scampi, chips in the shape like you could use to dip into a sauce which I found very different but very tasty finished with fresh peas and pea shoots again something I have never tried but really liked them, and believe me I have never tasted anything as nice as the monkfish tail scampi it was absolutely lovely and the potion size was huge, my taste in batter is not huge but that's me, When it came to puddings we were given a little sticky note with a few puddings that was available (unfortunately no prices just a hand written note) We ordered 3 raspberry rolade's with cream but 5 minutes later the chef came out and apologised as he only had 2 rolade's available so we settled for those and a chocolate fudge brownie, Everything was laid out all professional like and top marks to the chef 100%, Thanks to all the team at the blackhorse inn for a great evening

Our annual Christmas meal with 16 of us last night and our first time here . The food and service were both excellent and nothing was too much trouble from the friendly staff, landlady and landlord and of course the pubs cat Ninja . We had a great night, have booked for next year and will return for a Sunday roast soon . We braved the awful weather to drive over from Dawlish and it was 💯 worth the journey. We will also watch out for your events on Facebook it’s a shame we already have New Years planned or we’d be at the Casino buffet with you Thank you for a lovely time !
