Iām not sure how this place gets 5 stars Iād driven 30 mins to have lunch with my daughter in her lunch hour with her very young nephew there was 1 person serving and taking orders then seemingly trying to make food drinks and serve - no warning of delays we only ordered a sandwich and a baguette and 45 mins later we ran out of parking time so my daughter and a young child literally got nothing to eat for lunch Avoid.

Ordered takeaway for delivery and wow was it good! Delicious pizza and pasta dishes, plus the doughballs were amazing. Great portion sizes and quick delivery. 100% recommend!

Amazing food and service is always top tier! This place has recently became the go to and weekly travel over half an hour just due to the fact locals food not being on par š¬ The restaurant is always warm along with a warm welcome by the staff, the food is to die for and can highly recommend the duck! Farzana the waiter/bar maid is extremely polite, pretty and helpful with anything and everything weāve ever needed! Couldnāt recommend enough and would put more stars if there was the option š

Pokey room with a crap wire spring mattress on a slat bed, as old as the hotel ? Pillows marginally better, but also not good At least it was a queen bed (not double as a few places have) Only 1 mug in the room (couldn't be bothered raising it, but how do housekeeping not check) Quite disappointed Staff very friendly

Visited wareham for a week over Christmas and for us this was the best pub there. Great sports showing, great bar staff and very welcoming landlord and locals. Thanks guys, see you again soon. Elisa & Kieran š

The building itself is an excellent venue in a great location on the quay at Wareham. This was our first visit to have an evening meal at the Old Granary, and was much anticipated because I fully expected to have a great meal here. I hoped it would be at least as good as the meal we had at the Italian Kitchen in Wareham 2 weeks previously. However, we were very disappointed about many aspects, and especially the quality of food. The first issue was that my wife and I were offered different menus. Although it didnt have a heading to say it was anything other than the standard menu, it turned out I had been given the Gluten Free menu whilst my wife had the correct one. I was struggling to find a sutable main course until my wife showed me her menu. The Starter we both chose was the Mushroom Soup, which was surprisingly dark in colour, but worst of all tasted very greasy. This unpleasant flavour was apparently caused by the chef adding 'finishing oil' into the soup. Well yes, it did finish off the quality of flavour, and also wasnt helped by the fact that the bread provided was fairly stale with a very 'heavy' consistency. I gave this feedback at the time but the waiting staff just said they would tell the chef. I heard nothing more and so we just finished the soup, whilst leaving the bread. My wife later noted that another table actually sent their soup back to the kitchen, and so maybe we should have done too!! Our main course then arrived, along with the bottle of white wine which was just plonked on the table with no thought to even take the top off let alone offer to taste/pour. No refinements in serving at this restaurant it seems. Having chosen Pan Seared Hake with Samphire, Tenderstem Brocolli, and smashed new potatoes, I was hoping for an improvement on the starter. I was again disappointed though, because my fish was overdone and quite dry. I presume the skin side was grilled to create a crispy skin which was fine, but the other side was then Pan Fried to such an extent that the surface was browned off and almost solid. This meant the rest of the fish was fairly dry in texture. The Tenderstem Brocolli though was Al Dente to the extreme which meant my knife needed a lot of effort to cut through it and was very firm when I chewed on it. The rest of the veg and sauce was satisfactory but nothing more. Again I gave this feedback to the waiting staff who again said they would tell the chef. Again I heard nothing more, so we decided not to risk ordering a desert as we had originally intended. When paying the bill at the desk, I was again asked if everything was ok, and so I repeated my previous feedback and was again assured she would tell the chef, but no thought to offer any kind of a discount!!! I would point out that my wifes main course was of better quality. It was only because of that, and because I really didnt want to spoil our evening out on New Years Eve, that I didnt send my food back, or make a greater issue of things at the time. NB: The live music which had just started when we finished our meal also sounded quite poor quality too and so for all these reasons we decided to finish our evening at the Quay Inn instead which had excellent entertainment booked that night. We dont intend to return to this establishment at any time in the future. There are a number of great eating venus in Wareham and so thats where I'll spend my money it future!!
