The best restaurants in West Devon South West

What a great place for locals and visitors alike to meet up and have food and/or beverages. Jen and her staff are very welcoming as are the regulars. The breakfast is hearty and coffee good. There’s a good range of herbal teas too. For a small cafe it offers a good range of food which is always freshly prepared with most of the ingredients locally sourced. Highly recommend Jen’s 👍🏽

Visited on spur of moment for lunch. Pie & mash OK, my pudding was ATROCIOUS - meant to be lemon tart - what arrived was a pastry case with oily runny lemon butter filling - no way a tart. Staff polite & attentive - did complain but only got a ' we value your feedback' not really good enough when paying £75 - disappointed as when visiting previously was much better.

Staff are really friendly and caring. Coffee is nice. Can't beat there tiffin they are amazing.

We went for Sunday lunch 24th November. Without doubt the best roast lunch we have ever had. First there was a warm welcome at the bar. The meal was first class and plenty of it. Service was outstanding and friendly. I should have reviewed this in the past as all the meals are very good. Check before you arrivethat they are serving food as they only cook on so many days per week. That said there food is worth waiting for. Thank you all.

We walked in and received an unwelcoming stare from 3 members of staff who were sat around talking as if we had just interrupted them. The young girl behind bar seemed polite. We asked if food was being served and our request was met with a huff from one of the ladies sat talking who informed us they weren’t going to do food tonight so will have to wait until an hour later. The looks given by the other two sat down weren’t inviting and made us feel uncomfortable. There was no atmosphere (no background music playing etc) just conversations between staff. We politely paid for a drink and left. Would not return and would not recommend.

Great food, but card payment being available would move the business into present times

We came having heard great things about the food and beer selection - we were not disappointed!! The Christmas dinner was by far the best we have had in North Devon, of incredible quality and presentation. The chef is clearly an absolute pro, and we will definitely be back to see what they have to offer in the New Year!

Crispy chilly chicken with egg fried rice - delicious 🤤 not hot though I’d say it’s on a sweeter and sour side which is what I was hoping for

A special dinner to celebrate 25 years of the village orchard- and the Drake came up trumps as always. Being a non-meat eater, a special fish dish was produced just for me, and it was superb, with sea bream and samphire- absolutely delicious. Full marks to the Drake Manor Inn

Love getting our food here.the staff always happy you can tell they like working great choice of foods .and have a great vegetarian/ vegan choices

We had a fantastic family sized pizza and side of chips last night. Cannot fault the food or the service.
