Had a lovely lunch at the Ship, the food and service were first class, and Matthew the manager was very friendly and helpful. We both had the giant flatbread, one with beef and one with chicken, both delicious and the portions very generous. I also tried a complimentary baileys cocktail which finished off the meal nicely. We look forward to visiting again soon.

The pub is very warm and welcoming and have a good selection of real ale and wines. Staff were friendly and attentive. We were a group of 8 who pre booked to eat and there was a wide selection of meals to choose from although the vegetarian Wellington had ran out which was a shame. If I was to be slightly picky I'd have to say the buttermilk chicken and the duck dishes were both a little over cooked ( a little dry) but still tasty.

Well we went there today. And what a good choice. We left it to the last minute and rang up. The guy front of house was great, very welcoming and added to the overall experience. The staff where very pleasant and helpful. I couldn't decide between beef and lamb, the young lady serving us said " well why not have a bit of both " fantastic idea I said. Food was great and the service was quick , we didn't wait for drinks and they where brought to the table. Great over all experience. , plenty of parking out front. So we had a 3 course and 2 course and 5 drinks. £65. Quality food at a good price with a great atmosphere. We will be going back. Well done Team. See you soon Dave. A massive thank you to Morgan and the crew for a fantastic pub lunch. They were incredibly catering towards our pram and dog, they couldn’t do enough for us! The food was very tasty serving great pub classics and the specials (Flat iron stake) being phenomenal! All in all would definitely finish up a dog walk by calling in!

My partner picked a takeaway up for my family, kebab and a parmesan and between the three of them shared it, one of them only having the parmo, one only having kebab, and the other having a bit of both. several hours later all three of them were violently unwell with food poisoning. They have not been able to keep anything down including water for over 24hrs and have been severely unwell and dehydrated. We have never had problems before but this has completely stopped any of them ever wanting to order ANY takeaway again never mind just Odano’s. This is the most severe case of food poisoning i’ve ever seen. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Had a full English breakfast here and it was the worst I've ever had. The mushrooms were either our of date or overcooked, I couldn't tell because I couldn't even cut them with my knife. The hash browns tasted strange and I didn't eat them, the eggs were slightly under cooked, the sausages and black pudding okay. The drinks machine only partially worked it seemed to be low on water. You can't make a cup of tea with your preferred amount of milk as the machine dispenses it into your cup and you end up with milky frothy crap tasting tea. The place didn't feel particularly clean. Won't be going back again. Thirsk is lovely however, and the White Horse over the road serve great fish and chips.

Diabolical service! I wish we could comment on the food but unfortunately we didn’t get chance as the service was near enough non existent. After booking a table we arrived and were greeted to a table for 2 in the middle of the near enough empty restaurant excluding 3 tables. A few minutes later we were then asked to move as this table was now reserved. 10 minutes in we were asked while he was looking around elsewhere what drinks we would like, we ordered and still were not given any menus. 15 minutes in we were asked again what we ordered to drink by the same person as he forgot a sparkling water and a Coke, getting a little impatient with a smile we ordered again. 20 minutes in still no drinks and no menus plus witnessed another table who were looking at their menus for over 20 minutes while we were there if they could now order. At 25 minutes still no one left the bar to come into the restaurant so we decided to leave and then all of a sudden to be told we’re busy and our drinks are ready. Well cancel them and good luck to you and your business if you can afford to let cash walk out your door because you won’t last much longer treating customers this way! We won’t be returning and suggest others save themselves the trouble.

Overall, lunch, dinner and breakfast were very good. The steak at dinner let it down, so salty it was almost inedible, and not medium as ordered. A charity band entered the dining area before we decided on dessert. I said to the gentleman I didn't have any cash, which was true, he then shouted over to one of his friends "one over here who needs the card machine". We are charitable people, but we didn't know what they were collected for, wasn't told, so this spoilt a relaxing meal, being made to feel uncomfortable. Our room was very cold on arrival, we left our coats on for half an hour as a result. Also, the noise from the heat pump for the pool was constant and too intrusive for what is in theory a luxury room/stay. All these minor issues made what was otherwise a welcoming environment and excellent food more of a disappointment verses our expectations.
