The best restaurants in Newby Harrogate Yorkshire and The Humber

Has been closed for a few months now and I recently read on their FB page that they are not reopening. A pity as it was a decent local place with very good food.

Back in ownership of the people that made it so great. Delightful food, sometimes unexpected choices and an excellent atmosphere and service. Not the cheapest venue but worth the visit

Just done a motorhome stay. Car park on a slope and a bit of a ramp going in. Food and service brilliant

First time visiting and definitely not the last . Great atmosphere, friendly staff and just a very comfortable place to drink.

Driving home from a day trip in my electric car (only had just enough charge to get home - didn't have enough charge for detours) and realised we had run out of water and all were thirsty & dehydrated. Stopped to get a drink - and see if we could fill up our water bottles - but sadly they were shut & the door was closed. Chap came out to where I was sitting in my car trying to work out what to do to check I was ok and gave me drinks for the kids. Above and beyond, thank you!

We have regularly visited the Crown since it reopened. We booked a table for lunch at 1230 and arrived on time. The car park was full and so our first mistake was not to turn round and go somewhere else. We walked through the door to find a mass of people blocking the way to the bar, obviously a private party. Our second mistake was not to turn round and go somewhere else. We finally found our way behind the bar so we could get to our table. We introduced ourselves to a harassed waitress who said that she would be with us as soon as she could. We should have turned round and left. We sat at our table and were ignored for 15 minutes until we grabbed a passing waiter and ordered drinks which did arrive. 10 minutes later we got some menus and the private party had moved into their private room so that we could finally have a look at the specials board. 15 minutes later I went in search of someone to take an order from us. There was no-one around, they were all serving the private party. Finally when we heard starters being served to them we had the attention of the waitress. We asked her for the bill so we could pay for our drinks and leave, she assured us that as the private party had been served their starters our order would go straight through. We then heard main courses being served to the private party. 30 minutes later we still had received no food, I sought out the waitress and said that we were leaving to be told, truthfully, that our food was on its way. When it came the food was fine. We abandoned any hope of getting a pudding or coffee, paid our bill and left. I have never before not paid for service but I just could not bring myself to. I'm sure that a large party of diners is of value mid week to a restaurant like this but if you take a booking like that don't take other bookings that you can't cope with. If you do and then realise the mistake do something about it. Offer cold starters to keep other diners going or offer a free glass of wine or, at least tell the truth and apologise when things have gone so badly wrong. None of that happened. I'm not sure that we will be going back.

Came for Sunday carvery with family , we aren’t local but met half way and chose at random but we were not disappointed. Friendly staff delicious food and reasonably priced - thankyou we will be back x

Food was absolutely delicious 10/10 Delivery was very slow we waited 2 hours for 1 pizza, 1 kebab - as slow as the delivery was the food was worth the wait - BEST pizza

Fantastic food all of my family enjoyed everything we ate here today at the flower show. The staff and organisation was 5 star. Would highly recommend this place.

We have ordered food from this place twice in recent weeks as we are in the process of getting our kitchen renovated. Both times, we have ordered from the website with no issues, and there is plenty to choose off the menu. The website is really good at updating you as to how long it is going to take for the order to arrive and it was very accurate. We had different items on the two orders, pizzas and burgers and everything was delicious. When we have our kitchen back, at least we now know we have a great takeaway to treat ourselves now and again

It is a few years since visiting this rightly popular establishment. I was not disappointed! The ambience, service, food and drink were all to a very high quality. The fish pie was excellent with a significant amount of varying fish pieces. Thank you Simon and the team 👍👌

I would have gone if this was in Ripon, North Yorkshire. But it's not. It's in the US. The entry needs to be corrected.
