The best restaurants in Wakefield Yorkshire and The Humber

Stayed here a few times and it’s always a pleasant stay. The staff are lovely and the rooms are splendid 😌

Sunday afternoon family Birthday meal with 20 adults and one child. We were seated on 3 tables. The staff were good. The food mostly also good but one or two of our group did have slight issues. The one portion of venison was dry. Some vegetables too hard and Yorkies not the best ! Have to say the 3 courses I had were all good. The wife steak and ale pie was very good. Three of us ordered from the special board but was then told afterwards that there was only one portion of the Venison so two of us had to reorder ! For a large party most of the meals arrived in good time, no one was left waiting. Drinks had to be ordered at the bar, not sure if that was due to the large party. 3 bottles of Champagne was ordered for the toast but unfortunately when a 4th was wanted we were told there was only 3 bottles in the cellar. The restaurant got a little busy with several groups waiting at the bar for their table to be free. That may have been our partly’s fault as our large group over ran a little due to a late arrival. We were never pushed or rushed by the staff. I would recommend the Blue Bell and return in the new year.

Cracking old worldy pub, rustic decor, open coal burners and the most important beautiful real ales (all OSSETT brewery) + a few of the normal largers, Guinness etc to keep the youngn's happy. And chirpy locals. I'll be coming back

Great place to visit, really njoyed

Top quality food with extremely generous portion sizes, luckily they provided us with some takeaway boxes for our leftovers. Looking forward to my birthday so I've an excuse to go again 😊

OMG 3 courses for £12 and you take your own alcohol! Food is amazing and staff are really attentive

First time I've been, fish and chips very good well cooked, the owners are so nice and friendly will be going again

It’s taken me a while to write this review as I am so disappointed. We were seated at 3pm when we saw the older waitress , Jackie , eating leftovers and drinking round the corner. Additionally she failed to bring us our mandatory bread which we also saw her eat.i would like it to be noted the rest of the staff were very helpful and polite. An argument broke out between one of the younger members of staff and Jackie and she was heard swearing and threatening to send other staff members home. This was completely inappropriate to do infornt of customers. After we finished our meal we requested tea and coffee. Once again Jackie was seen drinking tea at the tea station. Food was lovely , not sure I will return due to certain members of staff.

Excellent food and service 👌 the homecooked chips are amazing 👏 reasonable prices, clean toilets, lovely outside sun terrace, highly recommended 👌

Best in the area, food is always very good and served piping hot, plenty dishes on the menu to suit all tastebuds, excellent service, nice friendly staff always go above and beyond, hats off to these guys, keep it up
