The best restaurants in England

Was in the area for the first time and stopped in. Me, my mum and her old friends who were visiting from over seas all were blown away by the warm atmosphere and beautiful views of the park all around. The restaurant is beautiful, and the staff were so friendly and polite. We stopped for a coffee and ended up staying for lunch! Couldn’t resist after seeing what was coming from the kitchen! If you’re ever in the area I couldn’t recommend this place enough - food was delicious, menu has great options and the service was excellent. And a kind thank you to the lovely welsh woman who served us, we felt very looked after. PS - the loos were also spick and span !😊

First visit to Truva, and very impressed with food, service and staff. Flatbread and dips we're unexpected, and delicious. We were a group of six and all thoroughly enjoyed our choices. For me the outstanding course was the Mushroom Saute starter. Highly recommended.

The staff were amazing! Made us feel so welcome and kept us happy the whole time! We had the best time celebrating a birthday, completely recommend!!

Fabulous lunch. I had vegetable soup, with sorrel. Wonderful flavour. One friend had goulash soup, yummy. Another course was potato cakes, butternut squash with dill,topping with salads, lastly vegan Bigos. Sauerkraut stew with tofu, lentils, forest mushrooms dried fruits and wine.fantastic. All recipes we had never tried before. The host was lovely, friendly, amusing and knowledgeable about his food. We went for a birthday and we will be going again……..and again……

Have been to Chimes before on visits to Ripon and always enjoy it. The owner is a really nice man who was rushing around but always makes you feel welcome. Best ham salad sandwich with salad and crisps I've had in ages. Owner told me off for putting too much salt on my food (like my husband at home) but all very good humoured. Lovely spotless quaint and pretty tea room. Looking forward to going back in the New Year and will be taking some of the gorgeous scones home with me too.

Cute French bistro, efficient and friendly staff and consistently great food. We visit every time we find ourselves in Brixham.

Visited after spotting someone eating one of the bao whilst we were in Lyme! Absolutely delicious- fresh, vibrant flavours and generous serving of meat in each bao. I had the rice chicken satay box and it was great- super portion and so fresh! The chilli crisp was unreal. My daughter had the kids rice box and great size portion and she loved it- 3 sizeable pieces of pork belly, rice and carrot/cucumber so ideal for kids who are interested in eating good food! Not cheap but VERY reasonable for the quality and esp considering there is a cafe directly opposite Red Panda which charges £12 for a jacket potato!!! Go to Red Panda, order 1 of everything then sit on the benches outside and enjoy the view and the grub- totally worth it.

A massive thank you to Ashley and his team for all they did to ensure our daughter and her now husband had the most wonderful wedding day. I know the weather wasn’t what we wanted but that really didn’t spoil the day. Ashley ensured the pre wedding preparations and everything on the day went perfectly and most importantly that they had the chilled, relaxed day they had wished for. Ashley’s calm, organised and flexible approach is perfect and made everyone feel everything was under control and there was no need to worry about a thing. Thank you so much

Decided to go zeno on a date night and we were not disappointed, we asked if we could get a romantic table and they surprised us with candles and flowers so it was a very nice gesture from them. The service was excellent and the food was even better. Definitely going back.

Stumbled across this great little place while wandering around Bournemouth. Coffee was top class. We also had a bagel each and cake. The bagels were generously filled, I had the vegan one with houmous, sun dried tomato and olive. Not a filling I would have chosen but worked really well. The almond croissant was the best I have ever had. There was marzipan inside and topping it. Best of all it wasn’t particularly expensive. Definitely no more than the inferior chains nearby. If you love your coffee, worth a visit. Theres a few seats downstairs and more upstairs.

Great food and coffee, always a friendly environment would highly recommended Dog friendly environment in the heart of Freshwater town.

Delicious authentic Italian food made from the finest ingredients. The Vedure and calzone pizzas tasted as good, if not better, than any we've had in Italy. Warm, friendly and attentive service and great value. The portions were huge and we didn't think we could eat it all but we just kept eating as the food was so delicious, we didn't want to stop!

Called in here spontaneously while on a loop expedition around the lower half of east Cornwall looking for some new stretches to exercise the dog. Mid-afternoon, mid-September and we were soon hungry. This is a pleasant cafe but we came over ten minutes after lunch ended so we resorted to tea and cake. Quite a selection, fairly priced and OK portions. Better for sitting on the outside benches in the surprisingly hot sun. Bit fiddly to drive down here by the lanes from the A30, easy to get get back south to Liskeard and the A38. We’d probably come again but in time for lunch.
