The best restaurants serving British food in Chesterfield East Midlands

Madisons was shut. Wednesday 1:30pm and it was shut. I'll give it another review when I arrive at a time more akin to breakfast time.

Very good breakfast and exceptionally friendly staff. Our stay was cut short by the effect of the floods. We had planned to have our evening meal here on the strength of the breakfast.

Nicest bacon sandwich in chez xx also nice orange eggs nowt worse than snotty pale eggs this place does a nice tuna sandwich as well but they do cook the bacon lovely and well done

If you want a nice chilli con carne don't bother landlord rude and tells you its 'chilli' what do you expect and you have sour cream to cool it. It was so spicy couldn't eat went to bar for menu for a new meal but landlord made a big deal of it. 2nd meal cheese and onion pie was lovely shame about the atmosphere and yes we paid for 2nd meal.

Always a good selection of cask ales with usually friendly and attentive service. Tuesday barflies with dogs clogging the service area are a pain though. Have a word with them and invite them to park themselves in one of the plentiful seating areas please. I assume the no seating area at the bar is to avoid this kind of loitering. Ta.

So lucky to have on my own doorstep, The Holme Hall is more of a community hub than a “pub”. Great food, atmosphere and of course drink. Always something going off and things to do.

Rang at 2pm (they officially opened at 12) - told shut till 4pm today. Rang at 3:30pm to preorder 'Only deliveroo tonight'. After much trouble ordered via deliveroo (not our no.1 choices as Deliveroo did not offer these). Delivery arrived in a ripped sodden bag (leaking meat juices). Missing dessert. Rang to inform restaurant so could replace dessert. All deliveroo's fault apparently, wash our hands of it, wouldn't send out our own drivers in this weather (been snowing previous evening but we had travelled by car a long distance the same day without any problems). Deliveroo's 'service' doesn't allow for replacements, only a refund. Food that did come ok but nothing special. Restaurant owner hung up on me when I asked for missing item and told him we'd been out in the car np!!!

Great for traditional homemade food and well priced

I work for Greene King in Bury St Edmunds. Before the staff even knew who I was they were fantastic, and friendly. Then I saw the treatment they not only gave my family but my granddad. I don't think words can thank the staff at Donkey Derby. They are incredible towards him. I've never experienced such great hospitality in my life! The food here is also decent, great pint at a proper price, the atmosphere is great with happy friendly customers. The pub is always busy due to it's correct pricing. Greene King establishments in Suffolk or the south in general need to take serious note of Donkey Derby because they are so far behind what this pub offers its customers. This is how a pub is run correctly!!!

Good portions and the chips were ok but found them and the fish very greasy no crunchy batter didn’t enjoy them enough to return

Very nice chilled out restaurant where you can get a tasty carvery and pub classics! Really friendly staff and service is pretty quick!This is a delightful and relaxed restaurant offering delicious carvery and traditional pub fare. The staff are very friendly and the service is quite efficient.

Four of us came for tapas on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. The venue was really busy and there was a great atmosphere. We ordered a range of tapas, all delicious. The service was a little slow but it was busy. We will definitely be back with family as we had a fantastic time. Thanks for a fantastic birthday meal!

No dogs allowed and the whole place smells like urine, don't recommend at all, not to mention the staff are very rude not friendly or welcoming at all.
