We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Rutland Arms for my mothers birthday. The food tasted great, fresh and so nice to try something a little different. The waitress, (I can't remember her name) but she was so lovely and chatty & an asset to the business. I would recommend to anyone wishing to enjoy a meal in nice surroundings with good food that won't break the bank. We will definitely be returning.

Xmas dinner has got worse ,we all said it had gone down hill last year ,but this year it was worse.the starters they hadn't got all that had been pre ordered ,then looked hacked off when asked if they could whip one up ,when it came it was as tough as rubber .the main was as bad gra y had been poured onto the meal already instead of being put on the table separate the pigs in bla kets were rock solid as the same for some of the veg.and one of the male waiters had no manners it was mind out instead of excuse me,also we noticed he dropped the cutlery when he was setting up another table and instead of getting a new set he continued to pick it off the floor and proceeded to lay it on the table.Absolutley appalling behaviour.

Dropped in while in the area and had a lovely cake and coffee. Staff were friendly and the cafe area was clean and tidy. The choices of cakes was great and it was hard to pick but we had the cheesecake and it was lovely. The hot food looked great. Farm shop is a nice little.bonus to visit and there are animals too. Lovely spot to drop in on. Was busy so looks like a regular hotspot.

Recently moved to the area and can’t praise the staff enough, Reasonably priced drinks, and whenever we’ve asked to watch a particular sport , they’ve put it on for us.

One of the best meals I've ever had, this place will get stars. While some combinations work better than others nothing is less than brilliant and the standard of mostly home grown produce is incredible. Lovely remote setting, passionate service, there are tasting menus at places like Sat Bains charging twice as much and are half as good.

Excellent little cafe. Popped in after an art workshop in Twyford for lunch. Staff gave a very warm welcome despite being busy, service and food was brilliant. Even better they had a great selection of gluten free options for Coeliacs, they clearly knew how to accommodate for this and could see they were very conscientious. Amazing selection of cakes, and not just the usual gluten free brownie for those of us with dietary needs. Would highly recommend.

Picked up a large order of breakfast rolls all different sorts and cooked fresh then. Everyone enjoyed them and have been back personally myself since.

I called in here for a quick pint after walking around Borough Hill Iron Age Hill Fort. It was everything I wanted of a country pub. A log fire , lots of atmosphere and very friendly staff. Highly recommended and I shall be back. Food looked good too. Next time.

Just returned from an excellent lunch here. I had the Barnsley Chop, which is excellent value, although it arrived slightly more than pink, but which I don't mind. However, I do think diners should be asked how they would like it cooked, rather like a steak as many still don't like medium/rare lamb. Excellent service from a very friendly lady. All in all, I will be back!

I was so looking forward to my breakfast and had been wanting to come for ages. Lovely setting is the only thing this place has going for it. We had booked a table and were greeted with a very curt ‘sit where you like!’ Not very welcoming at all! Breakfast was ordered the drinks came but the food took so long to come that we had drank our drinks by the time it arrived! Food was barely edible over cooked burnt bacon and the muffin was so dry I needed a drink to wash it down! After waiting ages to come and visit it was really disappointing and I will not be returning.

I live in the village. Have supported the Crown as a local since living here. Recently renovated it is comfortable with a good group of friendly staff. Today Boxing Day I went in for a pint. Usually drink the Vixen. Today not available. Just two not well know beers (as the two guest ones regularly are). Not what I wanted or one of the 5+ largers they have on tap. At the extravagant prices you don’t want to pay for a brand of beer you don’t want. I would also drink the low alcohol Ghost Ship. Again not in stock. The happy hours has ended over Christmas. Sadly the food menu is repetitive and very high end on money. Today I have driven to another well thought of local pub (with many ex Crown employees working here). For a pint of Vixen. The first one made complimentary by the manager. The Crown was a top end pub when RedKat purchased it. Sadly it is loosing its spark. More sadly nothing to do with the staff who generally do their best to make you feel welcome. Maybe country pubs are not RedKats speciality. Overpriced and lack of choice in beer and food.
